  1. Exactly why I wrote this. Some are just too lazy to keep up on taking care of it. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  2. No one can actually produce real numbers to this, because there nobody that will get the same mil thickness while shooting the paint every time. Some will have extra primer and bondo as well. Adding paint to a plane does add alot of weight, adding extra feul cost to get to altitude, but it may be best to make the decision after you have stripped it to bare metal. Some aircraft may be heavily dented and the current paint is only masking it. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  3. It would be best to just strip the paint. Paint adds weight which means more fuel to altitude. There are no structural benefits from it, and maintenance might be the extra care of keeping the alum from oxidizing if you do strip it to bare metal. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  4. I do. And even before it was named that by Olav. We'd call it doing the "Rocket". www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  5. I use mine for every discipline without any problems at all. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  6. That's what she said........ sorry, I had to...... www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  7. Passing though a cloud will only cause moisture which will run off like the rain as it hits your windshield going 116mph. The fogged lens on the inside of your face shield is caused by the moisture in your breath, as well as your body heat, as it condenses when the ouside air is cold. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  8. Read her post one more time..... www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  9. Great topic. Years ago I worked with an AFF instructor that used to fail students that didnt do a perfect back loop on level 6. They ended up not going all the way over and not finishing the flip only to end up on their back. They would get onto their belly within a couple seconds though and continue the skydive flawlessly. I called bullshit on this because the dive is for the student to recover from instability. He still wouldn't change and probably still fail students today for this. DZ's that pass students from instructor to instructor, need to have instructors that teach the same way. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  10. That's the same guy that beat you in the distance contest isn't it, Tony? edited to add: Tony was robbed... www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  11. Video of you doing a tandem is worthless for your learning progression. Spend your money wisely and do tunnel time. You'll have plenty of video of you skydiving after you have finished your AFF training. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  12. It worth making the trip to the DZ. If your going to do your training in the spring at The Ranch, I'd suggest tunnel time instead of doing a tandem. If it's nice outside and you have the cash, do both. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  13. Wine almost shot out of my nose from laughing. You dont know how funny that really is....... Shoot me and email when you head to Lodi and I'll show you around. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  14. Yah, I was told the same crock of shit, until I went there at looked for myself. I'm sure your friend was doing static line from the C182, which is a typical gutted jump plane of DZ's over alot of years. Aesthetically unpleasing to the eye, but still well maintained in engine and airframe. Dents and dings are superfiscal on aircraft. I have a few of them on my own plane that I'd rather not have, but it doesn't effect it structural soundness in the least. Travel around to alot of DZ's and you'll see alot with the interior gutted for the removal of extra weight. Lodi's Beech 99's are also gutted of interior, but both the Otters and the King Air are fine aircraft inside and out, with the typicail 100hr inspection done by the fulltime A&P's. Dont be fooled into thinking the cheap jump tickets at Lodi are because of lack of maintanence on the aircraft, but instead its from lack of greed and a thriving tandem operation and upjumper population. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  15. You guys jump King Air's over there? www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  16. No, that will probably get you into a side spin.... Side stepping out the door with your back to the prop blast. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  17. Base can exit from 1st to 6th out of the plane. Many think flying base is easy and you most always have to be out 1st. Flying base takes having awareness of getting down to an area where the first few flockers in the formation can build on you, then setting a constant glide and fall rate without changing. I've seen many people try and pull off a good base without success. It can be like your doing a solo out there, so many dont offer to take on the task. Read my comment again, John. We are talking KA in this case, so I wouldnt put base out any more then 3rd. And if its a larger person, it will take them even more time to get through the small door and exit cleanly. Either way the King Air door absolutely sucks for doing multiple ws exits fast and clean. My observation says this is a rare occasion...... www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com

  19. Yes. Holding your wings straight out in front of you as you exit. Tip your head back and as you see the ground, bring them out and fly down the hill and to your right at the formation. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  20. Since faster airspeeds and exiting out the small door seems to be an issue on a KA, have everyone that isn't able to face the line of flight do back flips out the door. Have the base flier fly 90 off the line of flight almost right out the door with the other 2 that are able to exit facing the relative wind. The rest will get there faster when not having to worry about getting ther wings square to the line of flight as they exit, and will not have to even worry about the HS at all. You'll exit faster when not having to do a 180 when exiting, but instead just a side step to the right. Ed www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  21. Your wrong, even a non USPA DZ will require a parents signature. If not, they are fools. And telling a 16yr old to go do a tandem without telling their parents could make you an even bigger one........ www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  22. You just want more video of yourself........ www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  23. True. Today I just picked up a girlfriend for my male Boston Terrier. We have a 11yr old Cocker Spaniel, but he was wearing her out. She is already scrappin with him. I took this picture with my cell phone inbetween rounds. www.WestCoastWingsuits.com www.PrecisionSkydiving.com
  24. Having the cutaway become unmated, and pulled out during her flare sound possible. Some bigway exits can get rough at times. Immediatly after any funnel or collision, and before continuing your dive down to a fomation, a jumper should do a quick handle check, if not even on the way down to the formation. Your reserve handle and cutaway should be looked at while under canopy to make sure they are in place also. Complacency kills.... Glad this didnt happen at 200ft.
