Tom, AFAIK and I know pretty far, Felix has never jeopardized a legal site. If this is the case with the others, I believe you have a legitimate complaint with RB. Please get statements from the authorities stating the complaint and the probable impact and i will pass it on directly to the chief of sponsorship of RB. Just make sure that this is the case. How is one to know who did the highest, lowest, longest etc if it´s not documented in an accessable manner? How does one document it in an accessable manner? (Felix does have documentation on his jump). What about the johnny-come-lately record breakers, even you didn´t know about the last 2 that were since year 2000. How would one rectify this lack of info? Point d. Read the starter post again. What makes people jump to conclusions faster than exciting journalism? You got taken in by it too. Why are people so gullible to the media´s entertainment? McCordia seems to me like he is objective in stating what he saw on Dutch TV. How do we prevent this, Should we? Red Bull purchased the mountain to stop the logging there and it is now open to jumping and ummm.... Felix is a direct cause of this because he did jump it first. Point c. Try again, Peter Gambs, Germany. Freefell 59 feet on a system I developed for him. By all means qualifying as a BASE jump. I measured the height at 18m. He also did some lower freefalls but I didn´t measure them. The height of Felix' jump was 29m above obstacles, and once he cleared those obstacles on the opening surge he could fly 710m down the mountain. STI was around 2.5secs. take care, space

To answer your question. In general, the safest, if you decide to jump, is to pull with maximum clearance from the ground and object whilst still leaving you able to make the LZs after dealing with line-overs of headings etc... But even this is not garanteeing you will survive to the ripe old age of tomorrow. hope this helps take care, space

There´s a quote by some great person " it´s better to ask a stupid question and get a stupid answer than to not ask and remain stupid". This being said, most are trying to help you understand that your priorities are misplaced according to "the way things are done". I respect your questions and like the rest, recommend you do more research. Also note that in films, Normally the Alt. is stated from exit to LZ, the same as the DZ. But in reality it is what YOU can achieve via tracking over the ledges and talus on the early part of your jump. No tracking skills, will likely result in an object strike. Pulling too early will also put you very near to the wall. It is a very high price to pay just to have a chance to use a reserve. You could be putting yourself in a very high risk situation just for the small amount of psychological security. I hope this helps, take care, space

Amy, I sit here with her, on the PC, showing her the visualizations in Winamp. Maybe I am contributing to her technoholic tendencies, She has the Barbie and the Kleinen EisBär CD-ROM all figgered out., She shows me how to inter act with the ROM prog. Actually she switched on the PC, typed her password, inserted the CD, and opened the Prog. I gave this PC to her as an early birthday present. Hoping it would be cooler than the glitter pens she fell for at Christmas. I can´t speak her language unfortunately. Her command of the dialectual language far surpasses mine. I have to be responsible and explain as best as I can why Bambi´s mother died while she is hangin on my neck with her slate blue piercing eyes staring directly into my soul……I have consolance in knowing that the same characteristics her mom didn´t like about me, my little princess-monster has 10 fold…MuHahahaha…….She will be away on her birthday, doing the Orlando theme park thingy with Mom. 30 consecutive skydives working on the skills necessary for BASE. Assuming one can grasp the TLO´s quickly, maybe 50 if they lack skydiving exp by being "just of student status". How many skydives required ( just as a number) is normally from trying to.......But a skydive doing freeflying and deploying a small, hi wingloaded canopy doesn´t help one prepare for BASE. I think that the jump minimum is useless as is, I´ve seen it in action. The leaders should be thinking about it dynamically. It would be very easy IMHO to institute a "Skydive U" type of thingy... take care, space

The Magnum was discontinued before the turn of the century. This is probaly why you didn´t find a ref to it... I don´t think it´s good for BASE from solid objects. It was a CRW canopy and had a fast fwdspeed from the trim as far as I know. HTH, take care, space
