When I first started jumping my camera suit I found pull time quite disconcerting, I felt as if I was going to go unstable because of the uncollapsed wing. After a while I didn't think about it and just pulled stable no probs. Whilst filming a fun jump in spain on our staff trip, I asked one of the guys to film me dumping out. Whilst I was editing the end of year video, I noticed that on pull as I move my arms I drop my right knee. This is something that I was not aware i was doing. What do you guys do? I have a .4 lens on my PC8 matched to a 19 - 35mm Tokina (set to 19) lense on my EOS 500. I have a 24mm fixed focus which is close to my .5 lens but dont need to use it with the 19 - 35. I also focus just shy of infinity, with the camera set to TV 500, and get nice shots. One thing to try is different film ISO, I have been using 200 but 60 x 40's come out looking grainy. I will try out 100 and 50 when we eventually start jumping again. Mind you it all depends on what you are filming, I dont need a .4 for 4way. Being an instructor I get to jump very day if the weather is good. Last year I managed 300 jumps between April 6th and Nov 13th. Haven't jumped since due to our DZ being closed from Dec 2nd till Feb. I have 2 Pro Tecs 1. Set up for sidemount video and top mouint stills. 2. For all other types of jumping. I sacked my frappe hat due to lack of protection, and not because it made me look like Chubby Brown (fat British comedian http://www.chubbybrown.com/wallpapers.asp) The protec offers better protection than most helmets, but I feel there is a stigma attached to it due to it being used by students. Gath helmets look worse than protecs and offer less protection, but they were THE freefly helmet in the UK for some time. I am waiting for my Flat Top Pro, then I will use Pro Tec 1 when dispatching students, aerial critiques, FF and probably POV on FS jumps. I would probably buy a full face if i could pick up a cheap one that I could wear with my geeks, but then I would only wear it during the winter season. I have seen a number of helmets and if you don't want a Pro Tec, then I can recomend any Bonehead helmet. They are certainly superior to any other helmets i've seen on the DZ.
