Well Gemini you and I have disagreed on the draft issue, but I think overall I agree with you on this on. At least to the piont that some corrupt individuals were involed but not every one was corrupt. I get the feeling that free man is only on here to stir it up and cast a bit of unfounded inuendo about for no better reason then to get a reaction or spread idiotic consperacy theories around. You make some good pionts, he on the other hand dosen't even give any information on his profile. Meep Meep do I detect a troll?? Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI

That dosn't make it right. Slavery used to be legal as well. Can't say as I blame them. As for Ali Your gov't called him a liar, said he was becoming a musslim as nothing more then an excusse to avoid the war, and threw him in jail!! My memory of the times may be clouded as I wasn't directly involved and was young enough not to really care what you guys where doing south of the border, But I believe prison was again the fate of many who chose not to do miltary service, and like the draft that so many protested this was just wrong. It can be legal and at the same time morally wrong can it not? Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI

How the hell do you get from protesting the war and disagreeing with gov't policy about a war which by all accounts most Americans came to disagree with to dealing drugs such as crack or heroin? This response is at best is knee jerk and at worse plain stupid see above! Low as in your opinion, Giving away your life for a cause you don't belive in is not hounourable and serves little purpose. And I don't intend that statement as slander to the good men and women who willingly gave of themselves in the same conflict. I have nothing but admiration for those that did and feel they have been treated very shabily since. You call it what you like, I was friends with some of those draft dodgers and with some who went to Viet Nam. The fact remains that in a free country the system of drafting younge people into the service to unwillingly give thier lives for a cause they don't believe in is wrong. If your country feels strongly enough as a whole to go to war, as they have in many conflicts, you wouldn't need the draft and would therefore not have draft dodgers seeking refuge in Canada, and elsewhere for that mater. I think the real criminals here are the legislators who send other peoples sons to war when they know they will never have to make the sacrifice themselves and ways and means of keeping thier own sons safe from the fate they impose on others. Arn't you guys supposed to be the land of the Freee? Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI

I don't agree with the town's idea of honouring draft dodgers. Is that what they are doing? Or are they homouring the ideal of one human helping another? I thought that was one of the things Americans prided themselves in! Along with freedom to choose one's one destiny, freedom of speach, freedom of religion (wern't some of these draft dodgers for religious reasons?) And all the other valid and hounorable ideals upon which The US was founded? Go ahead and write letters and boycot gas pumps, that's part of your freedoms. But if that little town in Canada want's a statue, that's part of thier freedoms. Most of which are the part of the valid and honourable ideals upon which Canada was founded. Canada has always accepted people who fled the US for the freedoms they felt they would find in the north. Starting with the revolutionary war, through the slave years, and including the Viet Nam era. Disgusting? I don't agree with you. As is part of my free choice to do. "I jumped in the 70s so I'll be OK"
mccurley replied to teason's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ya I used to jump in the 70s, and 80s, and 90s, I still wouldn't expect to be able to show up and jump as a perfect stranger some place where no one knows me. Full of shit and you did the right thing. I'd venter a guess that if he showed up again with a log book that he didn't have as many jumps as he said either. I was in Toronto in the seventies and knew a lot of the jumpers from most of the D.Z.s PM me his name maybee I can fill in some of his details for you. Ron You make a lot of pionts which from reading your post sounds like you have done some research on. I agree with many of the pionts made in your posts and am not on this thread just to get into an argument. Yes consistancy is required particularly at world level and clarity of rule interpretations as well. Judges do work towards this but also the competitors. If changes are required in the rules it MUST be addressed by COMPETITORS who should put thier views and requests forward. Particularly at competitors meetings at your own Nationals and by way of comunicating with your own national bodies to put rule changes forward to the IPC. Don't get me wrong on this, I am not defending the judges who were involved in the incident which started this thread. I am also not condemning them as I don't know the details first hand. I will state again that the judges usually do the best job they can and add that they are also human and not neccesarily perfect, In fact I promise no one I ever met is perfect at all times. and that includes competitors who see things differently from the judges! My only real intrest in this thread was to point out the error in making asumtions that the judges are always wrong. Most of the time in fact they get it right. Lets put the errors in perspective of the correct calls and the efforts made on behalf of the competitors by the judging staff. We are there for your benifit after all not our own. I personally have spent many hours working after the rest of the competiotion have gone off to play or sleep after a days competing. More then once to find that dinner is gone and your left hungry as well as tired after a hard days work. Work not fun! We still do it because belive it or not, most judges are just as passionate about this sport as any competitor. I only request that this be keep in mind before people rant about the quality of judging and how they got wrong again. Again I'm not going to defend or condemn the judges involved cause I don't have the facts, But I have seen it happen to many times when people do defend or condemn from a very narrow point of view which is often slanted in thier own particular direction. That's all I got to say for now other then lets all work towards the common goal of continually improving "our" sport. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI

I am not going to defend or even try to explain why the judges at this meet would make this decision. I wasn't there and I am not privy to the events details. I take from your question that you are also not privy to details. I only respond, as a judge with experiance in several countries, to object to the SNAFU phrase being used in referance to judging. Judges for the most part participate in that function for the love of the sport and make every effort to treat every one involved in a fair manner and in accordance with the rules. Very few will do anything that is not in keeping with the spirit of the rules. We spend a lot of time and effort to do this job, often without proper breaks for meals or rest.and do it gladdly for the benifit of the sport and the people involved in it. People we admire for thier competitive and fun loving natures. Please don't adopt or propogate the attitude that the judges are always in the wrong. Don't assume we are on a free ride with all our expenses paid and little stress to cope with. Most importantly, don't assume that the judges will always let these attitude roll off like water on a ducks back and come back for more. I hope you get a proper answer to your question as to why the rejump was awarded, hopefully from someone who was actually involved and can deal with your question in a factual manner. Sorry about the venting but sometimes it's got to be done. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI

As demonstrated in some of the previous posts about malfunction causes, there are two sides to every argument/discussion. This one started with the statement "You can do every thing right and still die in this sport". For my two cents worth, and I've had a few friends die over the years, I honestly wouldn't say any off them did every thing right and I am not aware of any fatality where they did every thing right. To offer the flip side of the coin, I have been in the situation of doing the wrong thing and surviving and have seen this done with varying degrees of injury or total lack of injury on many many occasions. So to counter the original statement I would like to offer that "You can do a shit load wrong in this sport and still live to jump another day" Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI

Arguments for (or against) the existence of God
mccurley replied to scottbre's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm a non believer, at least in the sense I don't believe in a supreme being. But Jesus lived, and preached, and probaly did some good for the people of his time. A lot of people have come after him and done a lot of evil in his name and in the name of God. Each claiming to know better then the last, each claiming to have the right answers, each condeming the others who disagreed with them. If we today each followed the basic teachings of the christian faith, and I dare say most faiths, we would all live better lives. We each are imortal in the sense that we have an influence on the people around us, and if we live a good life, that influence will live on in those people we leave behind. You don't have to believe in god, or the here after, or prove to anyone else that he/she exists or not. But there is nothing wrong in living your life as if you did believe. Do some one some good every day and you'll love not only your self better, but all around you as well. Watch my video Fat Women http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWkEky8GoI -
I don't know if he had them, I'm sure he wanted them. Why didn't he back down and prove he didn't have them?? Don't know and don't care. He needed to be removed before he did get brave enough to aquire and use the weapons. Again, Why didn't he back down?? Why didn't Hitler back down when the Russians where knocking at his door and the rest of his country was under the boots of his other enemies.
