  1. Holy crap -- an event I could actually enter! Now if only I could fence... See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  2. Yes, they still allow us to be Marines. Do your sisters get a Happy Birthday too, then? i know you are "girls" but i dont consider you sisters, you're still brothers so you are included in the happy birthday! =D I'm good with the brother reference, I was just trying to get out of the c-word category! Happy birthday, bitches! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

  4. umm... excuse me? See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  5. I'm trying to suggest good schools to my brother's kids based on which ones have skydive clubs! Oh, and ones they can attend on triathlon scholarships. Gotta pay for it somehow! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  6. Yes, you are. This coming from someone who DOES tap out in the cold. Last January when we had the 10 days of hard freeze in Tampa, my team was still jumping! I told them that I do this for fun, and THAT was not fun for me! Can't wait to come home in December to jump.
  7. I got a macbook last year, and it's taken me some time to get used to it. I bought the Microsoft Office package with it, and am glad I did -- mostly because I already have a lot of those files and want to be able to read them! I bough the year of unlimited Mac tutoring, but lost the ticket. I love iPhoto as compared to Photoshop, but I can't figure out how to separate the originals from the processed photos when I try to burn them to a disk. I also have some minor issues with the email program, such as certifying emails (notified when delivered or opened), or recalling emails. And mine loads web pages really quickly. I also love how quickly it boots up and shuts down. WAY faster than my Dell! Bottom line -- my Mac is better in some ways, and my Dell is better in others. And of course, that's a personal opinion. I guess it depends on what you need it to do, and how much time you've spent getting used to it. Good luck! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  8. Kids don't take or schools don't offer? Even at when it was offered, when I went to school more than 30 years ago, it simply wasn't something boys took -- ever. That's about the time my brother was in junior high -- he took home-ec. Of course, he was able to counter any teasing from his friends by 1) feeding them the excellent cookies and brownies he baked in class, and 2) pointing out all the cute girls he got to hang out with there! 9. A friend of mine took me along to a small gathering with some of her other friends. We sat on the homeowner's front porch passing out candy, and started to wonder if kids were being bussed in! We saw a variety of very creative costumes on small kids and pre-teens alike, and also saw the older teens in street clothes. We also had a mix of those who said, "trick or treat," followed by "thank you" and "Happy Halloween." I haven't seen that many kids making the circuit in about 10 years! 10. Just for those TIs & AFFIs who like to hit on the hottie female students! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  11. We have another week in the US -- DST ends at 2 am Nov 7. One more week of sunny early evenings!

  13. What is it? My school claims I just tried to access porn. It's a sweatshirt for a baby that has a rubber knife stuck in the middle and lots of gore. Makes it look like the kid's been stabbed. Not the worst costume I've seen. When was the last time you had your eyes checked? See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  14. Start off having it as an additional skill-set. Get certified, then ply your trade at the DZ after jumping on weekends (you can also use this as the way to get your practice hours while you're learning). If it pays well enough, then start to consider leaving your "day job." Or, use it as a way to supplement your current income (this way you can keep whatever benefits the bank already offers). Benefits will depend on how you want to work. If you set up your own company and work independently, you can get various types of insurance for the self-employed. If you get hired on by a resort or spa, then the benefits will vary by the company. You would have to check with prospective employers to see what's offered. BTW, I'm with Deedy -- I'd be more than happy to help a student massage therapist get more practice! In fact, my shoulders are kind of tight today.... 15. I know this question is incredibly outdated, but how much do you make? (you can keep this to yourself). American "guideline" for the purchase of an engagement ring is 2 months salary, hence the comparison of ring/diamond size for women as being on par with comparing penis size for men. It's more a comparison of how wealthy of a husband each girl was able to snag. My friend's girlfriend told him this approximation, so he asked me to verify. He was much less shocked about that limit when I told him that I'd heard that in Italy the approximate price to spend on a ring is your ANNUAL salary! He felt much better about the two-month estimate. ETA: this price point is a good reason to wait until later in the marriage, when you're both established in your careers, to upgrade the rock if you choose. You're probably making a lot less now than you might be able to make later. Plus, everyone else is right -- you need that money to pay for the finer things in life, such as housing, food, clothing, etc.
  16. Well, it would have helped had I actually TRIED. I just never had to try very hard in Calc. E&M was the one class where I really worked hard and just never quite got it. (Medical Physics degree) However, ONE TIME in the Marine Corps I got to use all that knowledge. We had some local workers taking their breaks on the roof of the TACAN building, so of course they spent time in the magnetic field. I got to use my degree to explain why they didn't suffer any damage, but why OSHA required them to get physical exams. It actually was fun! edited for spelling! 17. I'm one of those people you like to hate -- was in Calc 3 my freshman year of college. Loved it. However, I wasn't able to transition well to Diff Eq. Plus, I never did get the hang of statistics! See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

  20. My sister wants a Toothless toy (like a stuffed animal), but so far, we haven't seen that particular line of merchandizing. BTW, my sister is 31. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
  21. Saw it in the theater (and I don't often do that). I loved it, too! Lots of fun. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

  23. What he said. Actually, I only visited SDC for the first weekend of Nationals. First, I would only worry about getting SPOILED by such a HUGE operation working out of that gorgeous facility! (I was appropriately jealous!). I was impressed that during Nationals, when they were working with about 40 4-way teams, five planes flying, running two jump run tracks simultaneously, they still made sure they had instructors & coaches available for tandems and AFF students. Then, when the winds picked up, they were so safety conscious as to restrict jumping to only those with at least a C-license (that's 200 jumps minimum, plus various demonstrated skills). Like I said, I was just an observer on the ground, but I was immensely impressed with the organization, attention to safety, and flexibility of that staff. Enjoy your AFF! Oh, and one other note -- you can join USPA now and start getting Parachutist magazine, or you can wait until you're closer to starting your progression. The membership is annual, so decide whether it's more important to have a full year of jumping before you renew, or to get the magazine. The DZ keeps copies there, so you can check it out when you go do your tandem. Like everyone else said, HAVE FUN!! (and sell all your stuff).
