The one time I ever saw a groom's cake, the groom was a Harley rider. They actually made a cake of a guy on a bike with the bride riding bitch (vertical, like you'd see on Cake Boss). It was about 18" tall and looked really good. Unfortunately, it was left in the truck and melted the day after the wedding! For something a bit easier, what about a cake that looks like your rig? See skyflower_bloom's & theonlyski's avatars -- that's the angle of photo I'm thinking of. It could still be a very simple shape cut from layered cake, and decorated in your colors. Well, Tues, Wed, and all next weekend are looking good for Z-Hills! Wish I had your issues. I won't be back in Florida until later this month. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

If Skymama follows through, sounds like the rest of us "wishing" you a happy birthday is overkill! Seriously though Mark, have a great one. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

15, 25 and 30 (of the original link). Really beautiful pics! I love it when I'm just shooting, and find later that I got that perfect image. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

Okay, that's a bit extreme, but it does remind me that buttershots makes the hot chocolate very tasty! /goes to kitchen.../ See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I have an ice day today. School wasn't actually cancelled, but the roads are really icy so I called my instructor and told her I'm not coming in today. I don't see any viable options posted on this thread yet. So far I plan to so a little studying and a lot of laundry. And here I was thinking Shah hijacked your username! I agree with your views on counseling, though. You have to take time to discuss (at length) these things well before you have to deal with them. To Happythoughts: why do you think I never got married? Everything I have is mine, and I've never given someone else a house. This is a requirement if they want the advice/assistance of the military. The actor has to have something wrong with the uniform. Yeah, in the older movies there were painfully obvious! These days they make it as subtle as possible, and I'm always checking out Marine uniforms to see what's wrong. It can be as simple as wearing a ribbon upside down or with the wrong device. One good one was on JAG: Catherine Bell usually wore her Marine Corps insignias on her service uniform on the wrong sides (anchors facing outboard). How Important is Teaching/Learning Cursive Today in School?
TriGirl replied to CarrieByTheSea's topic in The Bonfire
Damn... I still buy personalized stationery and sent actual letters to my deployed friends. They have email, but still, people are surprised to learn how nice it is to get a real letter in the mail when you're deployed. -
When I was there in college and looking for work, I was a registered EMT. However, EMTs in the Detroit area were making only minimum wage, and were subject to malpractice claims. I ended up waiting tables instead. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

sound banking practices says "if you probably won't be able to pay back the loan, you don't get one." political practice ? "we want everyone to get a loan, so the govt will guarantee those improbable loans" the beauty of it ? turns out the govt has no money. it is all taxpayer money. when the home loan system starts collapsing, who jumps in ? the govt with more taxpayer money... the practice continues. stay tuned for our next fiasco. Throw in the property developers who just saw more dollar signs with larger projects. The company that build my house went bankrupt, as did the parent company that took over. About 1/3 of the community stayed empty (meaning no houses built) for about 4 years. Now we have foreclosed or abandoned homes that need a little work, but people can now get a custom built home for half the price! So, even though they're building there again, my neighbors are still in a housing/financial crisis (those who need to sell) because they still won't be able to sell their houses for probably the next five years. All the crazy, silly games I've seen guys come up with that combine some aspects of several sports (usually while drinking)... this one actually looks like a fun way to spend an afternoon! And the winner definitely has some bragging rights, although I'm sure he'll be feeling some pressure during his next match. Then the problem with the GW Parkway is that for very long stretches, there are no exits! That's how people got stuck for so long. They couldn't try another route, or maybe get a hotel room, or even just pull into a restaurant and have dinner for awhile. Then some people just left their cars there and walked home, leaving even more obstacles. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

I had a roommate once who could have been a GQ model (seriously beautiful). He was totally messed up! He just had all that attention from women from before puberty, so it totally screwed up his idea of self-worth. He never did learn how to be a decent person in general -- not an asshole per se, but really never considered anyone else before himself. Dave, nice to see you don't have that particularly annoying personality feature!

I rent out my house in Arizona, and I still pay property tax there (I did say "applicable" taxes). While I still had Michigan as my home of record, I had to file a state tax return and pay applicable state income taxes, and I didn't own property there. Under the current set-up, I know of no government civilians who retain state residency when they're doing their jobs elsewhere. I'm just saying maybe we should consider that option. *sighs, shakes head* Not worried enough, apparently. What kind of defense is he planning, that was so different than the one his attorney had in mind? See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!

So, did he live in Chicago before working at the White House? I think government service like that should be considered like it is for military. We all know that White House jobs are like a new duty station. Let them maintain a "home of record" where they are registered to vote and pay any applicable taxes. I've had enough time in my working life (read: all) knowing that the SS system is broken, and I'll likely see very little if anything back from it. Knowing this, I'm taking steps to be sure (as I can) that I'll be fine without it. I just see my contributions to the system going toward those who aren't as fortunate as I've been, and to the eligible beneficiaries who will never get to contibute. We sometimes forget that not all who benefit have contributed. As for the OP: interesting to see the itemized list. I can't take the credit. I've seen that suggestion on several other threads here. Makes sense, though. Lots more to do on the dropzone than just falling out of an airplane. See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
