Cool! We get to show pics of the babies :) What gorgeous ones we have on here too! Here are ours: Judge (Rott/Dane mix) Thomas (old gray cat) Ceasar (Himalayan) Teddy (???? Chow/Cocker/horny next door neighbor dog mix) Paco (American Eskimo/Chihuahua mix) They are all rescue animals and fantastically well behaved. Paco is still learning..he spent his entire life (6 yrs) as a stray in the Dallas, TX area, then being treated for a year for heart worms. The foster home didn't take that good care of him either...we had him checked out after we got him and he'd had dislocated shoulders and a bad back for who knows how long. We have a hamster too..but no pics of her :)

Skydivers' Personalities. You ever wonder?! (POLL kinda)
Pammi replied to Sinkster's topic in The Bonfire
Okay, I only did the first one...it's long, so read what you want :) Sounded about right! Ok. Now for the payoff.... What is there to say about you? You're a lively and enthusiastic facilitator who applies warmth and vision to helping people and meeting their needs. You are aware of people's aspirations and develop plans of action to make those aspirations into reality. You're loyal to causes or people you like/respect. You're tolerant and appreciative of others..seeking involvement with them in life's tasks. You're at your best when facilitating situations that require interpersonal sensitivity. You tend to be self-critical... Now, just a bunch of ... strung together: cooperative, friendly and like harmony.... constantly on the go, involved in many things...love being with friends, clubs and any activity that allows you to be with others. You're gracious, charming, aware what is and isn't appropriate behaviour...also, you've got a verbal gift and communicate well.. You'll set goals and follow through diligently and usually get whatcha strive for...in group learning situations, you learn best where you can talk about the lesson/topic and interact with your peers...but you like SOME independent learning and projects...you feel responsible for the feelings of others... You radiate sympathy and understanding... You like being a team leader...encourage cooperation...focus on ideals and work within those ideals...you do best when there's a spirit of harmony... you like your work to be settled and orderly, but not so much that it is dull, quiet or unchallenging...likely do well as actor, counselor, teacher, and anything else that lets you help others... As a leader, you encourage others to participate and are not a neo-Nazi. You put personal relationships and responsibilities before you kick back. You enjoy reading novels and watching movies to see how tghe characters play out the life issues they confront in the story.. you like watching people...and BBSing on the Storm Palace... You take others' needs seriously and often put your own needs on the back burner behind family, job or community....romantic...fall in love HARD... when commitments break, you get upset because you see as personal reflection on you because you've idealized the relationship... Watch out for being blindly loyal to others or to causes that may not deserve your consideration...you're old fashioned....learn to recognize other people's limitations...don't avoid confrontation and conflict by sweeping it under the rug...don't take criticism personally and become illogical.... I'm getting tired from all this damn typing! You're so idealistic, you often don't see things the way they REALLY are, but how you wish they were....try to be less sensitive... ENFJ -
I agree. That's perfect. What an emotional day. Does anyone else remember all of us talking about this as it happened that day? There were a lot of us here that kept each other informed and supported each other as it went on. DZ.com has done a lot for us ...more then just skydiving. The original thread Thanks HH Pamela

Sweet! I love it! Did you get new canopies also?
-
Thanks a lot. She's so sweet and was so incredibly helpful when we moved out here.

What a good attitude! I love it! Freebird, I have to say that I did the whole "I'll marry this guy because he has been a friend and the passion and 'love feelings' will come later or aren't that important." Bullshit. If it's not there in the beginning, where can you go from there? And as for the kissing...that's HUGE to me. Merrick's kisses still 'make me tingle in good places ' hehe Don't settle girl.
-
Thanks! Keep us up if you can...I assume she's not going to be up to getting on here for a while! I'd be more then happy to help her out if I can at all! Get her groceries or some such if she doesn't have help doing her regular errands and so on.

ROFL! I *so* fell for that

Oh Wendy! I'm sorry to hear it! Is she in the hospital still?? (In Raleigh I assume??)

In a movie theater during a movie. Wore a skirt, garters and a long leather trenchcoat for the occassion Hmmm...in many parking lots, a BJ through a toll booth, on the hood of my car at Raeford... Wherever the mood hits!

Interesting dbattman...that's what I'm going thru with my car now! Shifting problems :/ It's cost me $100 so far, then may be anywhere from $160 more or $700 + more. *sigh* The thing that pisses me off is that it's a programming problem in a computer that Mazda won't fix, even though it's been a problem since day one and had I know when I had a warranty 20,000 miles back, they woulda covered it. Legally they only have to tell the first owner of such service bulletins, and I'm the second. Bastardos! Buy a Honda! They last forever!

DAMN Jraf! *clinging tighter to Merrick* I'm so glad to not be going through that whole dating scene (or being with someone untrustworthy) anymore! I did the whole catch-and-release program for a while too before him, but it gets a little lonely after you get over the fun of hearing it turned around (IE: "You make me feel so used!"). Then there's the whole double-standard on how it's 'wrong' for a woman to do such things or have 'numbers' even in the double-digits, never mind if it starts with a '2' or more. Good luck guys! There is hope, really!

I'm sorry to hear things are not going well for you It will pass, truly :) I truly believe in the theory that without the bad times, you couldn't truly appreciate the good. Your dedication to trying to accomplish your goals says something to you, and I think it will get you far in the end. Keep at it girl!

Agreed and agreed. I really didn't expect the thread to turn so serious, but it's a good debate. It *does* however both sadden and infuriate me at the same time that some people believe that the money, time and effort that some people spend on the sport were not adequate enough to have them taken seriously because they didn't give up an important part of their lives also (and may not if that situation should arise). I feel more sorry for someone who would put skydiving about family/friends/children. THOSE are the things that will sustain me for the rest of my life. Skydiving is just my fun and release from life. I love that some people can dedicate their lives to the sport and am very respectful of them. But I don't think less of anyone who have other life priorities. For myself, my children and family, will ALWAYS be my number one priority. It doesn't mean that if I should have to quit for them for some reason that I really wanted to or didn't want to jump any longer, it just means that I'm willing to sacrifice my wants and needs for those I love. I have done such things in the past, and will do it in the future if it was necessary. I will never, however, lose my love of the sky and how it feels to be in it. I don't think it's about skill, time, number of jumps, giving up things to prove your dedication or anything other then the love and understanding of what it is that we do. Fulfillment and happiness; doing it at the expense of those I love would not achieve that for me. Blue ones guys.

If you're here, then you likely are a skydiver...because you're obsessed with anything and everything skydiving and want someone who understands to talk to about it. :)

I hear ya Mouth. There are some "Disney dads" (and moms I'm sure) out there that don't want to take care of their kids, but want all the privileges. Like a fun weekend doing everything for them that you can't do because you're working 3 jobs to pay for their clothes, food, home, etc and don't have much left over while the ex doesn't pay child support. BUT child support is not connected to visitation, so they can skip out all they want on that but still see the kids regularly. Must be nice to be able to just have the best part of being a parent. I don't care if you ARE broke right now, everyone is broke at some point (okay, not those rich bastards ) but that doesn't mean that your kids don't have needs that need provided for by SOMEONE ALL THE TIME, regardless of your situation. Damn, sorry 'bout the rant. Have a worthless bastard of my own. The worst part is, Merrick stepped in and has been an amazing father, financially, emotionally and every other way that counts, but their biological father gets to hear them call him 'Daddy'. It's just not right. My son came home from a visit once with BLISTERS from a sunburn on his shoulders. BIG blisters! He'd made the kids stay out all day and didn't put sunblock on him! F***ing idiot.

It is really aggravating when you hear on the radio about some whuffo calling in to relate his skydiving experience and being told how 'brave' he is, being a skydiver and all. He did ONE tandem while in Vegas one year, and he was calling in to say 'that's what gets him out of bed in the morning' (the 'chatroom' topic of the day). If he wins the DVD player for it, I'll really be sick! I'm sorry, but IHO, one tandem does not a skydiver make unless you intend to keep jumping from there. Oh, and he paid like $250 for it or thereabouts, plus an extra $150 or so bucks for the video! DAMN! No wonder Vegas prefers doing tandems to fun jumpers!

Raleigh-Durham? Hmm... I/T mecca. No fair! I was going to guess that! He *did* say something about wanting to jump the Monkey, er WITH THE Monkey soon. That would rock if you came here HH!

I married a non-drinker. It actually caused some issues at first but he eventually came around and even bought me a little microbrewer that I wanted. There is hope! (AND..it's cheaper with just one of us drinking and as Jessica said, a designated driver!)
