My first night jump I landed off and hit the ground without even knowing it was coming, which was probably a good thing because I didn't tense up and break anything. This was the first time in my life I really truly didn't know if I was going in. This due to a combination of a lot of things, my flashlight not working properly, me not checking the spot well enough and just trusting my friend, and poor lighting of the DZ. I ended up with a concussion and a lost hook knife so it wasn't really all that bad. B.A.S.E. #1734

Washington (CNN) -- House Democrats voted to make Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, their leader for the 112th Congress Wednesday, overcoming objections from moderates who argued that she was partly responsible for the party's overwhelming defeat at the polls two weeks ago. Pelosi turned back a challenge from North Carolina Rep. Heath Shuler, a member of the party's diminished centrist "Blue Dog" faction, in a 150 to 43 vote. The speaker -- now set to be House minority leader in January -- retained the solid support of party liberals, who have noted her fundraising prowess and past ability to lead congressional Democrats to power, among other things. An earlier motion to delay the Democratic leadership vote until December 8 was easily defeated in a 68 to 129 vote. Some rank-and-file members were seeking more time to "fully understand the causes of our historic losses" in the midterm elections, according to the resolution. Republicans, who won a net gain of at least 61 seats in the elections, will control the House next year. They are expected to be led once again by veteran Ohio Rep. John Boehner, now in line to inherit Pelosi's speaker's gavel. Democrats avoided a contentious fight for the No. 2 slot between the more moderate Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer -- the current House majority leader -- and the more liberal South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, now the majority whip. Under a deal brokered by Pelosi, Hoyer will likely become the minority whip in the next Congress -- the second Democrat slot -- while Clyburn will serve as assistant leader -- a newly-created third Democratic position. Connecticut Rep. John Larson remains Democratic caucus chairman, with California Rep. Xavier Beccera rounding out the leadership as caucus vice chair. Some defeated Blue Dog members argued that by retaining Pelosi and the rest of the current leadership, Democrats were making it tougher to re-capture the House in the near future. Pelosi is "the face that defeated us in this last election," Florida Rep. Allen Boyd told CNN. "It seems to me that at some point you have to put your personal agenda and ambitions aside for the good of the country and certainly the party." "I don't know how we go into these districts like the one I represented ... and recruit good moderate Democrats if you have the same leadership." On the Republican side of the aisle, Boehner is expected to be followed by Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor -- soon to be majority leader. California Rep. Kevin McCarthy is slated to become majority whip, with Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling and Washington's Cathy McMorris Rodgers filling the fourth and fifth slots. The massive 80-plus member GOP freshman class will have two representatives in the party's leadership. South Dakota's Kristi Noem and South Carolina's Tim Scott -- one of two new African-American House Republicans -- have expressed interest. Boehner, who marked his 61st birthday Wednesday, will have to balance competing interests within the suddenly swollen ranks of his party's caucus. The incoming speaker will have to work with the Obama administration on various legislative priorities while also placating Tea Party activists who won seats on a platform of opposing the White House and sticking to strict conservative principles. http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/11/17/house.leadership/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1 B.A.S.E. #1734

How??? they still refuse to say how much.. He is but another talking head, No different that Rush! Anderson Cooper is not speculating on shit in his video how is he a "talking head". He is reporting what the White House and Pentagon have said about this myth that it is untrue. He is not defending Barack Obama saying he can due no wrong but merely reporting the truth that this number is a 100% fallacy. B.A.S.E. #1734

It says she spent the last 30 years in the hospital. The way I define living, she actually died in 1980 By my definition of living she died back when she became a nun. B.A.S.E. #1734

None. Does a psychiatrist have to be raped by somebody to help a woman through her traumatic experience? I don't see any relevance here. Are you saying that there may be an excuse for parents who don't know how to calm their children with anything but material objects? B.A.S.E. #1734

Oh, I think the whole war and bombing them thing is more of a cause than shutting down traffic. Wendy P. This is what really pisses them off. What a waste of coconuts! not a complete waste , the libs can hug the trees while the rape them of their seditious fruit ! http://www.speaknspell.co.uk/speak_n_spell.gif B.A.S.E. #1734

so you're saying the government should decide then who marries each other and who gets to have kids? Yeah I'm all for advocating that!!! I probably should take it easy on the sarcasm knowing the attention span of some. B.A.S.E. #1734

You are right, the parent puts the $$ on the counter. Maybe if they put adult toys in the Happy Meal instead of kid's toys, they'd increase sales...... you know, like power tools, or blenders - I don't know what you were thinking of when you read "adult toys" although, admitting that the parents are the ones that feed the kids and not the government is a good step EXACTLY, look back before Mc D's started throwing in toys, every Fat kid in school, had Fat Parents...So who do we blame back then? (matter of fact, Fat kids still always have Fat Parents) Yes, I completely agree its the parents fault, but like I said a lot of parents really don't look after their kids long term health and they shove happy meals in their kid's face because it's the only thing they can do to get them to stop crying. The only reason I would agree with government intervention is a worse case scenario because of all the bad parents out there. B.A.S.E. #1734

Some people are sick of looking at this every single day. http://www.topnews.in/files/Obese_People.jpg So you think Bog Brother shoudl tell people how to eat and live? Tehy are adults, they know they will die young...it is thier choice.."Educate, Don't Legislate" And what the hell?? You just said "Tehy are adults" but we are talking about happy meals? Swing and a miss. Yes , that is a picture of two FAT ADULTS...swing and a miss...try again... And that is how kids end up when their parents do not put what they eat into moderation while growing up. When you're brought up on shitty food it takes a really strong person to kick the habit, mentally and physically. Strike 2... B.A.S.E. #1734

Some people are sick of looking at this every single day. http://www.topnews.in/files/Obese_People.jpg OK, another responce, "Some People"???? Who da fuck are these "Some People" to be saying how a fat pig can live, if they choose to be a fat pig? Strangely enough, there are thousands of men, (NOT ME) that woudl find those women sexy, so you think you have more rights to eye candy than they do? Kids do not chose how they want to be when they are older, kids will eat what their parents feed them as they are growing up. It's not like little 4-5 year olds are looking in the mirror going: "Hmm. Maybe I SHOULD eat my vegetables." B.A.S.E. #1734

While I loved the McDonald's toys as a kid and they were one of the most exciting things in the world, it did make me want to eat that crap all the damn time. Pretty good tactic by McDonald's. B.A.S.E. #1734

Oh no but we can send $7,000,000 a day to Israel to occupy and invade the people of Palestine in a pointless war. Or we can an upwards of $700,000,000,000 dollars in Iraq and $300,000,000,000 in Afghanistan. Get real people... B.A.S.E. #1734
