I'm looking into purchasing a camera that has the remote shutter release via an RCA connection. I thought that Conceptus (sp?) offered an RCA plug option for their bite switches, but I can't seem to find one. Every dealer I've checked is only offering the 2.5mm sub-mini connector option. Even on the Para-Gear site, it shows the bite switch having the option of three different styles of plugs, but only have the 2.5mm available. Anyone know where I can purchase a bite switch with the RCA plug? Thanks.

Fear and Lothing in canopy selection
skynole replied to davelepka's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Well he just got the Velo, and I do agree that in general that may have been a bit early to get on one, but he took a very focused approach to canopy flight. He put 300 jumps on Sabre2 170 loaded at 1.1 and dialed it in fairly well. Did another 200 jumps on Stiletto's (150-135). He then got on a Katana for another 200 jumps. He regularly did altitiude hop'n'pops, got coaching on a regular basis, and did his "homework". If he wasn't interested in competing he would still be on the Katana, but the Velocity is better wing for competitive swooping. Plus, the transition from a Katana to a Velo isn't that big assuming similiar loading. My point is that he wasn't in rush to downsize right out of the gate like I'm seeing more and more lately. He spent the initial learning time into canopy flying and HP piloting at a conservative range. While he is still learning, as we all are, he is a very competent pilot considering his jump numbers. He can consistently put it through 5 foot gates, 12 feet apart. True dat! -
Fear and Lothing in canopy selection

You know, a lot of times I read your posts about canopy piloting and I think you can be a little harsh sometimes (probably warranted due to frustration...), but I think this post is spot-on. It seems lately that I have encoutered so many of these younger jumpers that you are talking about. On the flip-side of that, I can think of a friend of mine in particular who has been, as you put it, a "canopy geek" and now has around 700 jumps or so and is swooping the piss out of a Velo....much better than some people I know with many more jumps. Patience will pay off sooner than later.... -

Well the World Cup is in Lake Wales the week before (Feb. 8-12) Marco/Sebastian....and Lake Wales is sort of in between the two...that would be awesome if all you guys could sneak over for a day or something.

Speaking of manifest, I've got to give them some serious props. After I had already left Z-Hills, someone called them looking for me to deliver a very important message. They could have just said he's no longer here....instead they called me up here in Tallahassee and delivered me the message. If I didn't get this message, there is a good chance I would have lost my slot on the US World Cup team. So Z-Hills manifest, if any of you read this....THANK YOU!! You saved my ass!!!

I didn't see Florida as part of any of the districts. Are there plans to have a CPC sanctioned circuit in FL?

I've seen this posted several times on here so I want to dispell this myth. The intention of the E/Jay-mod is NOT so you can dig out better with rears if you are in the corner. The thinking behind it is to create a more efficient wing while pulling down on the rears. I'm not an aerodynamics engineer, but I'll try to explain it the best I can... When you pull on your rears, you are pulling down the rear of the canopy (where the C and D lines are attached) below the tail (where the brake lines are attached). This distorts the airflow over and under the canopy. By adding a line (very precise in length) running from your rears to the cascade point in your brake line, when you pull down on the rears, it pulls down the tail to the same point as the rear of canopy. The thinking is that this will produce a smoother airfoil, which will in turn produce a more efficient wing. My wording might not be 100% correct, but the point being that the thinking behind mod is to create a more efficient wing, NOT to be able to dig out of the corner better with rears. Now, it might be a by-product that you are able to dig out a bit better with rears...I have no idea, I've never jumped the mod....but that was not thinking behind adding the mod.

Mike, I'm really sorry about your loss man. Thank you. From all of our conversations, this is the smartest thing I've heard you say. I hate the circumstances that made you realize this, but nonetheless a very wise decision. It'll pay off in the long run. -

I got something you have been asking me for -
I never really was interested in the whole landing bit because, like most people on here, think that if it does ever happen, it won't be any time soon. I was more interested in the results of the tests that they did...and I would love to see the video.

I apologize if this is already posted but I couldn't find any threads about it... Anyway, I saw this on the canopypiloting.com site and just curious how it went and if anyone has any more info.
