  1. No problem. Heres one thread that might help. Diabetes There are some precautions that can be made w/blood sugar monitoring and diet etc. during skydiving that might help.I dated a diabetic jumper who used injections multiple times per day and I'm in a similar situation since I'm hypoglycemic.Anyway, hopefully the thread can help you out or atleast point you to someone who can answer your questions.
  2. You might try the Disabilities forum. I've seen Diabetes mentioned in threads there that might help you get some answers. You might try doing a general search too.
  3. Knee injuries suck! I messed mine up 2 years ago. Did the whole doctor thing..family MD,sports medicine knee specialist, orthopod, physical therapist, X-rays, MRI etc. They never did find out what was wrong..no tissue tears, nothing broken and just chalked it up to a deep bruise. But it STILL hurts 2 years after the initial injury.I was basically told to live with it. Good luck to you Cora.I hope you heal quickly.
  4. Since being late is a big pet peeve of mine and since I'm on a "set" schedule being in school, yes I wear a watch every day. Most times (b/c I'm forgetful) I don't take my watch off unless I'm washing my hands or taking a shower...yup even wear it to bed alot just b/c I know I'll either lose it or forget it if I take it off.Yes I'm obsessive... 5. Yeah, I've been away from the sport almost 2 yrs now to take care of personal stuff and get serious about school. Now things are going my way and I'm seriously considering getting current after I settle in at SHSU. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  6. Oh that area is so beautiful! I'm so excited about moving there in Aug to go to Sam Houston State.
  7. Did I say there was a difference? "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  8. Yes, you're at work but you're not working. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  9. Jack, I'm so sorry you have to endure the pain of losing a member of your family. I went through the same thing with my childhood pet last year.Saying goodbye is one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. I know its no consolation and will never replace Bugs, but try to think of those 20 great years you were loaned such a wonderful spirit to be a part of your household and your heart. While age and time may take them from us, they are never truely gone. Your precious friend will be blessed to be surrounded by those that have been with her always and love her unconditionally when the time comes for her to leave. You will carry her memory with you until the time when you can join her again. You and Lynn have my deepest sympathies. *hugs* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

    Smores.

Well until I get a volunteer to get the chocolate off I'm not going to put chocolate on my DDs. It'd just be too hard to get it off alone..besides it wouldnt be near as fun. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Damn you! Now I want s'mores! I like the tradition way best, but have tried a few variations.I've used cinnamon dusted graham crackers rather than plain before and that was pretty yummy. My fav other than the classic is a super chocolate s'more made w/chocolate graham crackers, lots of chocolate and chocolate marshmellows..which can be hard to find sometimes but worth the hunt. mmmm...chocolate. ok why dont we have a drooling smiley on here? "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  12. Yay! Happy B-day sarge! Hope you have many happy memories with friends new and old. But hell while you're at it break out the handcuffs! Happy B-day bro. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  13. I was obviously referring to skycat's mention of being around farms during slaughtering and such.Always have to have atleast one smartass in the group. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  14. Yeah, same here. My grandparents raise/sell chickens, eggs, geese, goats etc and we (my parents and I) have horses and cows. Things like this aren't a big deal for me. Yes, its a bit sad; life lost or never realized at all if you'd like to think of it that way, but its just that...life..nature..thats the order of things. Its funny how people have removed themselves so much from the whole process of how you end up with that nice omelet, steak, or most other food on your plate that, when confronted with the hard truth, they freak out. Most people dont want to think an animal was killed specifically for that purpose or that the natural purpose of eggs is to produce a new life. Things like this dont just magically appear pre-packaged in the grocery store, some animal had to be slaughtered for you to eat it(or in the case of the eggs, it just never made it that far). Welcome to the food chain.
  15. Dave, thats BS. It might have been understandable had you been working at both DZs and maybe caused a bit of a riff that way, similar to how some professions have you sign no-compete agreements (not skydiving mind you, just an example). They have no right to make a fun jumper chose between fun jumps or working at different DZ.Business and pleasure are to seperate situations. I'm glad you left on semi good terms though even if they were being petty.Hopefully you're better off this way.Thats MHO. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  16. Way to go Josh! Now you just need to learn how to spell "specialist" and you'll be good to go. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  17. There seems to be a few of those around. Even after they've allowed themselves to be ridden more than Seattle Slew they still don't seem to understand why people treat them like trash. Instead of trying to have some self-respect they just cover up their insecurities by bashing other people or pushing their bitter, obnoxious opinions onto people who honestly don't care.It doesn't make any sense. Oh well. *shrug* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  18. hot Royal Marines scenery is not sucking thank you Sebastian! no shirts and short shorts tan muscles and sixpack abs must stop drooling now "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  19. Ugh..tequila...I haven't touched that stuff since last WFFC. Yes, if you just have to bring it, be sure someone brings enough margurita mix this year so we don't end up w/pitchers of straight tequila slushies like we did last year. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Oooo I love those! I like the orange (MD Live Wire?)flav'd better.I live on MD and energy drinks between classes. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  21. I'm not sure yet. I'm looking into plane tickets right now and calling a friend at a travel agency to see what she can dig up for me. I do know that I'll be flying into/out of Champaign. I'm wanting to arrive Thurs Aug 5th and leave Sun Aug 15th.More than likely it'll be morning/early afternoon flights.
  22. Ok add my name to The List! I'll be working for Norman Kent Productions during the day so I dont know how much I'll be around. But I will be there for the whole convention. Anyone willing to help me catch a ride from Champaign airport to the convention? See you in 43 days! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  23. Eww, WFFC last year cured me of ever wanting tequila again. How about "how far would you travel to have a beer and hang out w/ a friend?" For me it'll be a 1.5 hr drive to the airport and a 2hr and 45min flight.Actually I'd go anywhere for my friends, but this time it just so happens that I only have to go to FL for this friend. So dont forget to pick me up from the airport while you're in the middle of all your fun. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  24. Hi Sarah, I understand where you're coming from and I think we're around the same age (21 right?). Sometimes it can be lonesome and frustrating seeing everyone walking around in couples like friggin' Noah's Ark. I've said the same things you've just said on these boards, and the people here have really helped me.Listen to them.I've gone through alot and these awesome people here helped me through it all.I've had more opportunities to meet new people, travel and enjoy new experiences thanks to the friends I've made here. I'm still single, but ya know what? I don't care anymore. I'm young and know new possibilities always come around the corner when you lest expect them.Relax, enjoy the time you have now and today's experiences will make you a more well rounded person for tomorrow when you do finally meet someone special.
  25. I talked to a few people last night, but my cellphone battery finally gave up the ghost. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
