  1. yeah I know, and thats what I tried to tell him, but he's stubborn and does things his own way. He cleans all wounds with alcohol though. He said he got his first nipple piercing back in the late 80s or very early 90s and at the time thats how they told him to clean it.So he said if its good enough for him then it was good enough for him now since that one healed just fine. I decided not to argue and let him do his thing and I'd do what my favorite piercer gave for care instructions. I didn't use the ointment daily, only when then wounds were reallly sore. Another good tip my piercer gives is to soak the piercings in warm salt water (very low salt mixture) to help ease the soreness and discharge and then rinse thoroughly with clean tap water. That definitely helped with all my piercings when they were sore. Oh, just wait til you try to change the jewelry for the first time and try to take that bad boy out! Jeez! You'll dang near need pliers to get that stupid CBR back out because some piercers tighten it so much when they put it in the first time.My husband was laughing at me and all the profanity that was coming out of the bathroom the first time I tried to change jewelry. 2. I went down to the parlor with my husband when he went to get his right nipple pierced because he had gotten his left one doen a few year earlier and wanted both done now. So a few days before we had discussed it and he had said that he'd been thinking about doing it, so to kinda mess with him I told him I'd get both of mine done if he'd go ahead and get his done. So we both ended up with pierced nipples that night lol. It was kinda cool since we got to be there to support each other, not that either of us needed it because we each have other piercings/high pain tolerances. But it was still nice. I was expecting far worse pain than it actually was.I probably psyched myself up for nothing thinking about it too much before hand. She asked me to take a deep breath while she did the actual piercing and I felt a sharp pinch while she told me to exhale. After that she inserted the jewelry and closed the CBR and I felt a slight stinging tug from the jewelry while she was closing it w/ the pliers and thats about it. Repeat on other nipple lol. As far as aftercare goes my husband and I used different techniques. He would clean it with alcohol (ouch!yuck!) and then use a triple antibiotic ointment on it and keep it covered while he was at work. His seemed to heal alot faster than mine did and wasn't nearly as sore. I used my piercer's recommended antimicrobial soap and cleaned the piercings twice daily and used a light coating of the triple antibiotic ointment. He was sore for only a few weeks while I didn't fully heal for several months. We both love them now though. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  3. I haven't posted any. Hell I'm still getting calls and emails and such from those who didn't get the info that I was getting married since we decided to keep it a very small, private ceremony. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

  8. Going home to my parent's place to help start the clean up of damage from a tornado and take pictures for insurance. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  9. Northcentral Texas, about 60-75miles south of Dallas. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  10. I just got a call from my distressed mother. My dad called her alittle after 6pm to tell her that sometime around 3pm a tornado ripped across our 76 acre ranch. The list of damage is growing. After my last call a fraction of the damage included: uprooted trees, destroyed fencing, destroyed stud horse pen, all of the panneling off of our barn gone,it rolled both of our horse trailers, overtured a tack storage trailer the size of a cargo trailer truck and deposited it into our foal birthing pen, tore off roofing on my dad's shop and punched holes through the side of my parent's house. These are just some of the physical property damages. As far as I know, all 24 of the horses are accounted for. They are extremely spooked and shaken up to the point that they will not calm down enough to let my dad examine them closer for injuries. From casual observation 3 are obviously injured, mostly cuts and scrapes but one is limping and favoring a leg pretty bad. Luckily all the foals are uninjured. I'm worried about my parents. My mom is certainly emotionally high strung as this was her worst fear and she worries about the animals and now about all the upcoming weeks/months of repairs. I'm glad she was not home at the time.I'm worried about my dad because he was there in the house when the tornado hit.(Thank God hes ok).I know he will try to play it off and be tough for everyone else, but I know he needs someone too. God help them. I offered to pack a bag and come home to help tonight and cancel the engagement party that my friend's were throwing for me and my fiance but my mom said no.I offered to come in tomorrow too and she said to wait til the weekend. I feel so helpless sitting almost 200miles away and unable to help or be there for my parents.DAMNIT!!!!! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  11. Not much of a story to tell really. We lived in the same apt complex and he helped me move in last year.We 've been friends ever since and now we've been dating for several months. Its coming time for my lease to be up and he said he knew a way to avoid resigning my lease and solving all my problems at the same time.LOL! Then he proposed. I thought he was joking for a minute but hes serious.I'm engaged!(and still in shock) "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  12. I dont know the exact moment when I knew, but I found out today that he knew...he proposed TODAY!!! (not intended to hijack..carry on) "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  13. I've had both done and in my experience the nipples were slightly more painful and a bigger hassle because it took much longer to heal, whereas my hood was healed within 48hours or so. Talking with the piercer, the nipple logically seems to be more painful because they have to pierce more tissue and nerves than with the hood. But in the end it all goes up to the person's threashold of pain. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  14. I find it more alarming that people have an elitist attitude because they happen to be fortunate enough to be more current/still jumping in the sport than others. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  15. Doing great, obviously, since I'm twitterpated. How're you?(see? we only semi hijacked) "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  16. Yep, very... "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  17. If thats the case I want some boy scout cookies. On a side note, has anyone tried the Dryers "limited edition" girl scout cookie icecream? They make various flavors of icecream with actual girl scout cookies crushed up in it.Yummy but not exactly a favorite for the ol' jean size or scales. They only make it during the months that they sell the cookies. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  18. Engaged at 17 and broke the engagement off at 18. We found out we had different views on what our future would be and mine definitely was not going to be a house wife.I wanted to go to college. Engaged again at 19 and broke it off at 20.Apparently some people think that giving someone an engagement ring/getting married gives them the right to be abusive.Screw that!goodbye Joe. I learned that I can do good and/or bad by myself.I don't necessarily need a man to be there with me.(bottom line: I was young and stupid).I also learned not to get in a big damn hurry about things like these because I'm young and have time to live and learn. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  19. No, the bitch took off. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  20. Hey Lisa, dont feel bad almost the exact same thing happened to me last week in the college campus parking lot.Stupid bitch in a blue car hit my truck b/c she didnt know how to maneuver her car in/out of parking spaces. Now my passenger side is scratched to hell w/blue paint transfer that I cant fix. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

  22. Yep, all the time. Its called being human.Luckily that price also comes with something wonderful...friends and loved ones you can turn to in dark times. So take comfort in your friends, Rick.*hug* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  23. Saw Phantom both on Broadway and in the movie theater.I think the movie as a whole was well done but I was sad to see so many changes that were unecessairy to the script, music and plot in general thats blatantly obvious if you've either read the book or seen the performance live.Like I said, beautifully done, but just wish they'd stayed closer to the book/musical. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  24. Yup I watch.I'd rather know whats going on than be surprised and make a bad move/surprised reaction if I dont know when it happens. For the most part, if the person on the poking end of the needle knows what they're doing, then I dont mind needles.I've had piercings and tattoos and all kinds of medical crap done.Hell, 2 days ago I had both knees aspirated and injected with cortisone (yuck) and I'm starting an injection therapy series that involves 5 injections into each knee over the next few weeks..I'll be very acquainted with needles by then. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  25. Yeah that was a thought too after reading your suggestion. Its too bad.*sigh* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
