  1. A few years ago, a jumper in final was hit from above by somebody making a hookturn. "So you honestly can say that it happened quite low " Her canopy was torn in 2 pieces. She cutaway and pulled reserve as fast as possible. Her slider was down a second before she landed. She never had time to release her brakes. So even if you do not make stupid mistakes, it is always possible that somebody makes them for you and try to kill you. More skydivers have been killed or injured in an accident/situation they thought would never happen to them (low pull, no pull, low hook turn, no leg straps, no leg straps, ...) One very important lesson: everybody will screw it up sooner or later.
  2. We had a C207 soloy in 1990. Exit speed was high, (110 knots). Okay the pilots were afraid to stall it and after they had more experience, the speed was lower, but still quite high. The door is quite far to the back. An other DZ here operates a C 206 soly and if I have to choose between them, I would prefer the C 206. I do not have more info.
  3. You know that a Vengeance 170 has the same packingvolume (more or less) than a non airlocked 190 sq feet 9 cell?

  5. Even if they do not list them, ask them. At my DZ some have allready lost a gopro (like me) and have a spare cable.
  6. I was once in that situation. After some crwjumps, I was too lazy do unpack my normal canopy and installed it without checking everything. I had 400 or 500 jumps, it happend at a bussy DZ I was not used to jump. Till today (4000 jumps later) I never questioned my decision to cutaway (Sabre I, 135, WL 1,33). BTW The jump before the incident was the last crw jump of a crw-camp and I had a canopycollision. The main was damaged, but I could land it (using rearrisers). The left steeringlines were ripped of.
  7. The first time I emailled thbem, never got a response. The second time I got an reply the next day. Emails sometimes got lost, don't arrive, got blocked by their or your spamfilter...
  8. Contact the DZ where you want to spent some time and ask them.
  9. This story and unsharp picture contains a lot of strange info that needs some explanation. A misfire during the climb to altitude? Have you looked at the reservepin? Strange angle. Do you have a better picture?
  10. Not an answer to your question, but ...
  11. One big difference. With the ferrari you can drive slowly. The canopy only "drives" at full speed. Flying the whole time in full brakes is not the same thing as driving slowly, but please, go and try it and report back the difference. Jurgen
  12. I still don't get how you can end up not putting your legstraps on. Loosened to the stops maybe, but not even on? One day this (or something similar) will arrive to you to. The only thing you can do to prevent that this becomes an issue is to be sure that you will notice it before you board the plane. Realize that shit can and will happen to you to. Just do everything to look for this kind of mistakes. One of the biggest differences between having and not having experience is that you know that you will make mistakes, but also that you do everything to find them before they become a problem.
  13. Yes you can and will do if you do some spiraling under that canopy below 1500. Students do it with bigger canopies too. That is one of the reasons students have to be thought not to spiral below 1500 ft. BTW I doubt that you will fly in Max performance with your wingsuit while you are unconscious.
  14. Standard. Do not put it on novice, except when you are a novice skydiver. But then you are not allowed to wingsuit off course
  15. I have a storm 120 for wingsuiting (and a velo 90). But I have also jumped a sabre 2 (50 jumps). The storm is nice canopy, with more lift than the spectre, but the Sabre 2 has more lift than the storm. Have you already read this? http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/StormCFStormFAQFlightCharacteristics.PDF, http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/Sabre2-Flight.pdf, http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/Pulse_Flight_Characteristics.PDF What are you looking for? If you do not need a spectre or a storm for something special (like wingsuiting, jumping with a heavy stuff on your head, casual CF...), you are better of with the pulse or sabre 2.
  16. That they fly very steep. I full flight they will go down much faster than other (not so ground hungry) canopies. With my Velocity (WL 2,3) I do not need to spiral to go down and land first. I just let it fly in that case.
  17. Pulse: yes I would not recommend the Stiletto for you. It is not a bad canopy, but I think that you need a different tool. So if you need an easy to land canopy that flies flat, the pulse will do the job very well.
  18. Stiletto and Pulse fly more flat than the rest. Katana and the Velocity are groundhungry.
