My point: not all the CRW dogs are jumping lightnings, maybe some use other canopies (Storm, triatlon, ...) Also it is not because it can be painfull to do long delays before opening the canopy, that long delay will not occur (unstable exit, hard pull, long snivel ...)
-
Some CRW jumpers use a storm, I even know wingsuitbasejumpers who do CRW after a wingsuitbasejump (it is even on video).
-
And what if CRW goes out after them, opens with a little delay and the wingsuit is flying along the plane for a few seconds?
-
I will do a quickk and simple field test. I still have 2 for sale (DOM 2009). Anyone?
-
CRW usually exits either first or last, this depends on the wind at the time. So, roughly, CRW goes before RW groups in very light winds, and last out in higher winds. Usually wingsuits will go 2nd last if there's CRW on the load, but as long as the spot is OK, CRW could go before wingsuit as well without any safety issues - aside from exiting wingsuiters diving at the CRW formation I would prefer wingsuits after CRW. But the CRW-dogs I know go out way before the others, even downwind of the DZ.

What canopy has the most fatalities?
jurgencamps replied to cocheese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What do you want to prove? 100% of the people, who breathe, will die. So is breathing killing you? Probably the popular high performance canopies will be in the top. Was somebody killed while using a tool or did the tool kill him? -
Stupid noob questions about jump planes

or the door stays open. -
Is it just possible that there are just much more velo's than any other x braced canopies in the air?

Which Military job does the most skydiving?

Soloy turbine?

I like my storm (a 120, WL 1,75), my other canopy is a velo 90 (WL 2,35). You can do some sporty things (landings) with the storm and it gives you good openings. I still hesitate between a sabre2 and the storm.

Front riser turns for final = softer landing
jurgencamps replied to shah269's topic in Safety and Training
Or the contrary if you do it wrong I would put al my efforts in doing normal straight in landings and getting the timing of the fare right. Gr Jurgen -
When I had not jumped for 10 months after an accident, I did my first xx jumps on a 150. I normally jump a velo 90 and had 4000 jumps at that moment. It is always a good idea to be on the conservative side when you are not current. Gr Jurgen

People who talk shit (lie) about making jumps
jurgencamps replied to stratostar's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sadly it happens not only with skydiving. Wannabees bragging about a 18/20 wall they climbed (indoor climbing) (duh, never knew the existence of that ranking system for climbing routes) or some not so good motor bikers trying to swap their brand new, unscratched knee protection pads for used ones with some markings on them from a good motor biker. -
I copied Winsors post to a separate thread and I am really interested in hearing more on this. It contradicts my instincts but also makes sense. It makes sense. For ex. spiralling down, you end up in a place where the other jumpers don't expect you. They saw you 15 sec before at a certain altitude way above them and suddenly you are on their level. Gr JC

Low wing loading (Newbie question)
jurgencamps replied to jeepers's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Says who? Yours is the kind of reply that is contributing to our sport's dangerous fetish with high wing loadings. The OP never detailed his personal situation other than to say he is new, so why would take the immediate and ignorant position that he will want something faster later on? Is it not possible that the OP has no desire to go fast, visit emergency rooms as a customer, or leave the sport prematurely by ramming a femur through a lung? Could it be possible that the OP is middle-aged or older and simply doesn't want to risk an injury beyond that inflicted by tricycle-riding grand kids? I have no idea what the answers to those questions are, but more importantly neither do you. STOP making the assumption that everyone wants higher wing loadings and more performance. Some folks prefer less speed and collectively we need to stop encouraging those people to go faster through our comments and attitudes. I beg your pardon. Where do I say that I want him to downsize fast or to downsize to a ridicule small canopy? I do believe that a wingload of 0,9 or 1,0 is not ridicule high. Is a 230 or a different 260 that dangerous at the right (read conservative) time? Please keep this comments for those who advocate fast downsizing, which I do not do. I just do not think that students already have to buy stuff. -
Camera deploys reserve on door jamb
jurgencamps replied to PharmerPhil's topic in Photography and Video
Do you want to see the cover of a (British?) parachuting magazine with the cutaway pillow flapping in the wind on a hybrid jump or the incidents where people had problems activating their reserve because of a difficult grip on the pillow or jumper failing to realize that he pulled reserve instead of cutting away because he pulled a pillow and not a D-handle... Each system (D-handle, mini D-handle, pillow, soft handle ...) has it advantages or disadvantages, but saying that a (mini) D-handle is dangerous... Jurgen -
Low wing loading (Newbie question)
jurgencamps replied to jeepers's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not now, but after some jumps you will want to jump a different canopy. Very light wingloading = not much wind penetration. After some jumps you will have to stay on the ground with moderate winds, when otherwise with your experience you could be jumping. Do not rush to buy gear. -
Be sure to brief the participants very well that low turns and target fixation will spoil the party. Some participants at such events do not have a lot of jumps. Jurgen

Do you really think that the margin for profit on a cypress is that high? If the seller got the unit for free (sponsorship or theft) and can sell for 'whatever', then the profit margin can be crazy high. I know, I own 2 AAD’s sold by sponsored jumpers (different brands) and I accept that they make that profit (and also that I pay less ). They both openly communicated how many they had for sale. My question was a rhetorical one, because I was thinking about the margin for profit for a new cypress. Jurgen
