  1. http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_839283.html?menu=news.weirdworld.sexlife This made me smile. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  2. In the UK it caused much confusion having Cable internet and no cable TV. They just can't comprehend that we didn't want tv, it worked well though because we got 2 years FREE cable as their accounting system wasn't capable of processing that option Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  3. I am reading a biography by Robin Cook (ex UK foreign minister). The question is not weather Iraq had WMD's - we know they did because the UK government built and paid for the factory in Faluja and the US supplied the anthrax and distribution systems. The question is why there was "suddenly" a need for war. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  4. You might get better results by going into CMOS settings and forcing the CD drive to use a lower access mode - start by turning off Ultra DMA access modes. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  5. I won't answer the poll - as I am in the UK and would skew the results - not that I believe intelligence correlates very well with being good/bad -so I think the poll is a little off the mark. I do think that GWB is a lousy statesmen and does not have the capacity to breed consensus - he comes across more as agree with me or I'll bomb the sh*t out of you. 6. This post is a summary viewpoint covering a whole lot of posts and is not a direct responce to juanesky. I don't think the point of anyone is that the INDIVIDUAL US soldiers are bad people, they are doing the best to control a situation. However institutions do become entities or living beings with an attitude of their own and there is a PORTRAIL by the US administration (and more and more the British as well) that they have no respect for international law and peoples rights to a free trial. Many "bad" nations start off down this type of path. On the subject of torture it is a fact of "war" and while personally I believe that it is just a valid weapon as a stealth bomb one has to accept that BOTH sides can use it - therefore it is not acceptable to shout about Iraqi's torturing our people, while we quietly torture their's. While governments never admit to torture there are plenty of books/stories by SAS type people who tell of stuff they have done to gain "intelligence". I grew up during a war and have friends fathers who took captives up in helicoptors and threw them out blindfolded sometimes from 6 foot to make them talk and sometimes from higher. In the end they get statements that save lives. its not nice but war is never nice. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  7. Definetely not - its to long ago and besides like it or not the descedents of slaves are far better off being US/UK citizens. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  8. To true If you listen to the crap that is broadcast about the US and then go there it is very different. Not that I am defending the US government you can't break international law by playing word games on definitions and then bitch about others. Guantanamo is one example torture another. Clearly forms of torture were carried out in Iraq (playing barney full blast and sleep deprivation are not humane treatment just sophisticated forms of torture that don't leave bruises for the cameras.) Like it or not those guys need to be treated in accordance with international law's. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  9. its not on your poll - but snowboarding is my current favourite - has alot to do with Europes shitty weather though Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.

  11. Recent business trip to the States I mentioned to my client that I should have paid the difference and flown 1 way on concorde - anyway he fronted up 2 tickets on concorde so next week I am off to Orlando for 2 days with the wife and then back on concorde before it is retired at the end of month Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  12. Harare - but I left 6yrs ago when Bob went mad. Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  13. Excellent - forwarding that link to the BBC on that. Just listened to them harrassing Jack Straw (foreign secretary) on the Kay report. Sick to death on the arguments about Saddam was a bad guy and that justified the war, as firstly that is illegal and secondly what about my glorified leader (Mugabe/Zimbabwe) who the brits put in power 20yrs ago and whos documented to have killed several hundred thousand ppl? 14. Some people lie so much that I honestly don't think that they "know" reality. Most of my direct family sister & parents are liars to the point that they lie even when it is pointless - for example pretending that her kid sleeps through the night - why lie? I guess I grew up in that environment and then got married to someone who was HIGHLY suspicious and after a while of getting caught out it was better to change than divorce. Now it really pisses me off when people lie. I've got a client who so regularly lies that he can't even hide it from his clients Try pretending to own a business jet - how long did he expect to maintain that one? 15. Found the above from a google search - BBC is quoting this poll today 18/9 in an article about Bush "admitting there was no link". This morning Hans Blix came out quite strongly about the "spin" of the intellegence and seems very happy to jibe at the US/UK begging for more time, after what they put his guys through. Also on BBC at the moment (due to Hutton enquiry) is the very open admission/discussion about how much the media lies/spins/colours with their opinion actual news. 16. I can't find an original quote from Tony Blair on his first statement although I do remember sound bites from the time but contrast his 2 statements and then to the hutton enquiry he told them that he was responsible - I have extracted 1 of his exact statements Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  17. Bill I've got a question. I was against the war in Iraq just for background as it was fairly obvious bullshit about them being a CURRENT THREAT to us in the west. I also don't buy the argument that its right to enforce the UN's will by ignoring the UN The question is that Iraq was actively engaged in DEVELOPING WMD which could/would have posed a long term threat to his neighbours and possibly us. What do you think that we should have done? Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
  18. after much confusion it turns out that the 45 minutes claim COULD have meant mortars and small arms, this according to the head of the JIC, during the hutton enquiry. on that note - if you want an interesting read the Dossier is published on the hutton website, the government here never lied in paper, the dossier is actually fairly benign, they just used lots of inuendo to let ppl fool themselves (and encouraged the media to do so as well). 19. You asked for reason why - because as nice as my homeland was it is now royally f*cked up. Today Zimbabwe put the price of fuel up by 500% - and no that is not a typo! 6 yrs of a shrinking economy and chaos! For all ppl's bitching about it I actually don't mind the UK though. 23. there is an interesting concept called assymetric warfare, which analyses the methods used when 2 sides are vastly different in capability and or culture. There is some public domain stuff on the US DoD sites which is a few years old that clearly expresses terrorism as a VIABLE way of dealing with the US's high tech war machine. Assymetric warfare also covers the fact that different cultures (i.e. Islam) are not so worried about death as we in the west are - hence deterents have less effect. It is fairly humorous once you've read this stuff to then see as an example the UK government trying to implement an offense of "Royal Tresspass" after a guy dressed up as Osamma got into Williams party - yeah right a suicide bomber is really worried about his 18th jail term for tresspassing. 24. I am not sure how true it is, but apparantly there was an outcry about Korea eating dogs during the world cup, and people wanted them to stop for the duration. Well as the story goes ppl there got pissed off and a bumper sticker was produced... " A dog is not just for Christmas with a good deep freeze it will last till the world cup
  25. I was under the impression that "most" beers especially lagers were chemical replicas - is that not true (fosters, heinekin, steller etc?). I know that Budweisser and alot of German beers are "pure" i.e they are 100% natural ingredients with no preservatives.
