>Just supporting this statement. I've also been told to NEVER double >stow the rubber bands going through the grommets, because it can >cause a baglock. Been there, done that. I had to cut away from a spinning mal that was first briefly bag-locked. I had double-wrapped a locking stow cause I was too lazy to change the band... I do know a lot of people that double or even triple-stow all their bands without problems... It seems to more of an art than an exact science... Erno

Heck, you're right! Since Sangiro moved to the states, there's nobody to keep us in line for a few hours...

Icarus: >Had this guy died, he'd have walked away with a Darwin Award. Yeah, even the dead walk to go and collect their awards... Pop: >The guy deserves a Darwin award even if he is not dead. No sorry. The rules explicit state that you must successfully "remove yourself from the genepool". Though I'm sure you can imagine ways to do that without dying. The story sounds a bit difficult to believe to me. The guy does have an impressive sense of humor if he wrote that after sustaining those injuries... Erno

That was fudd's comment. He's from Norway. It is a ridiculously expensive country...

In Finland it's: An intermediate(We only have two classes, Intermediate and Open) 4-way team may have no more than one member who has a) won a gold medal in that class. or b) competed in a higher class I hear for some reason they're changing that to two members, dunno why. Erno

>Unfortunately, I can only think about doing the course in November >(exams and stuff). >Is training in winter an option, or should I think of trvelling elsewhere? > >The guys I jumped with all want to do the static line course, but I would >prefer the AFF. Doing AFF in the UK in November? Good luck... I'm pretty sure the weather will keep you on the ground enough to make training a pain. This time of year, I'd recommend travelling to someplace warmer and sunnier. Keep in mind that if you get your licence in another country, it's not necessarily that easy to jump with that license in the UK. I don't really know about that, but I'm sure the UK residents here will inform you. Erno

I'm a webmaster for the Provincial State Office of Southern Finland. Yes, this as well, is as boring as it sounds. The good bit is that since pretty much nobody here understands a thing a bout what I do, I can hang out at DZcom all day.

Two Killed In 2,000 Foot Tower Collapse Near Scottsbluff
ernokaikkonen replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
I wonder if the workers were fixing some of the transmitters or whatever in the tower, or the tower structures? If they weren't messing with the tower itself, there might be an additional hazard for the BASE-jumpers out there... *climbing up tower at the middle of the night* -"psst. Bob. What's that creaking sound?" -"Dunno Bill, keep going, we're almost at the exit point" -"Ok... SHIT ..did you feel that?" -"Yeah.... keep gooOOOOHHHH SHIIIIT" -
So what's the rule now?

HH, could you add a "download this video"- link to the video vault? It's a real pain trying to get the browser-plugins to work, especially with my laptop and not-so-speedy Internet connection.

>Once you've landed, we'll debrief, watch the video, and manifest for the >next jump. Might be a good idea to look at what caused that pesky little double mal on one of the jumpers. Unless you plan on MrBilling it a second time.

Me neither.. I mean, if you're going to mess with the greenies, you might as well go and spoil movies for the HH or something...

> The lesson may be, if you are down, stay down until you have been >looked at by someone in the know. Good point. Not necessarily even that, but don't 'bounce' back up (pun intended). I've landed pretty hard a couple of times(nothing broken though), and I've taken my time to catch my breath before getting up. When I crash land, I want to be sure I'm ok before I signal I'm ok by getting up. Erno
