  1. >You clearly got way to much time on your hands while at > work...where can i get me one of them works.. A government job of course... >but, they're fun in a rickyspringer kinda way >Och så chansar på att du kan svenska? Ja, jag kan prata liten svenska också. >And does this mean what i have been taught? >"satani rippola ilma!" Hmmm. Ummm. Not in finnish... "ilma" means "air" or "weather", and the rest of it sounds like somehow twisted finnish... but twisted enough to lose the meaning. But if you say it convincingly enough, I'm sure the Finnish weather gods catch the meaning... >cant belive that no one wanna join me at the "beaver boogie" The idea is really quite tempting, but I'm still paying off debt from my new gear... Do you really get jumpable weather at this time of year, or is the boogie just a good excuse for a beerfest?
  2. >Not pink my friend, there is a fine line between pink and purple, >and I don't cross it.. Yeah right, I've seen it before: "I'll just try it this one time" or "Of course I wont do the stronger shit" or "I can stop anytime I want" You're playing a dangerous game there...
  3. It's ok, I've posted the very same link before... And I can't be expected to function as the voice of reason for all of you all by my self now can I?
  4. >just out of interest, I ask, "so what colours should I be wearing?" >Her answer? APRICOT!!!! WTF!? >I turned and ran. The day I wear apricot is the day I change my name to >Gertrude and take up knitting for a hobby Mmmmm. Apricots.... Apricot's not a colour. It's a fruit. >Personally, give me reds, blues and blacks and I am happy. >Apricot? not in this lifetime ... *shudder* Black and yellow in my gear. Black and.. other colors in other clothes
  5. Ask yourself "What do I want?" How badly do you want the money? How badly would you want to have fun while working?

    >anyone else in britland saw that Anna in Wonderland show about Furries? I'm not sure, but I think that term describes something I have stumbled upon sometime or another(no, not personally). Let's not go there? Although the thread has already found itself where it belongs: the gutter(home sweet home)... To hell with it...
  7. >I seem to recall Patrck Passe featruring this cave in one his films, >but I may be mistaken, its happened before.... Not in the ones I've seen, but then again I've only seen Antigravity and Crosswind. Both of which I loved. Any other films by him worth watching?
  8. > unless your blind there is a rather large nipple front and center in that pic. Bwahahaah! For some reason that sounded in my head like it was said by a very reserved and very polite british butler: Sir, unless your blind there is a rather large nipple front and center in that picture. Ok really it wasn't that funny. I must be bored.
  9. Crazy people do crazy stuff... One chilly(I think barely above 0C) spring day at my DZ a guy was talked into doing a naked jump. I think he got like 3 cases of cider for that. And you're in late today nacmac, what gives? Don't tell us you have actually been working...
  10. Dude, go check this thread. 'nuff said.
  11. >and just how are two fully exposed breasts semi worksafe? I'm starting to wonder where he works...

    >might realize that skydiving is NOT one big happy family and not try >to paint a pretty prozac picture of parachuting. Ain't that the truth. But I can see how the sport could look like a prozac-painting to someone who's new to the sport. >On rec. those that give it, generally can take it - they don't appear >to be trying to win any popularity contests. That, I can safely assume, can be said again. >But running to one group to broadcast that you don't like the >other group seems rather lame to me. I didn't see the original post like that at all. To me it seemed like jessefs was genuinely surprised about the ... essence, of recdot. If I didn't have previous experience on recdot, and went to read it now, I think I might also think that there needs to be some reason for recdotters to be slagging dzcommers. But as I have been there before, I know that no reason is needed... Erno

    >that's not entirely correct; there were/are some moderated >newsgroups, where posted articles require moderator approval >prior to their being available for viewing by general readers (methinks) I knew that! Just haven't been using USENET for a while. There was actually a moderated Babylon5 newsgroup in finnish when they were airing the show here. The reason being mostly that no spoilers would be posted. The fans seemed to take the show rather seriously.. much less flexible than what we have here at dz.com (and other web >boards), but it counts as moderation nonetheless. Indeed. Discussion such as this could've taken days now on a moderated USENET group. >perhaps the powers that be could newgroup rec.skydiving.moderated? >any greenies up for the challenge??? Now there's a challenge! I would suppose herding a flock of rabid sheep would prove to be easier(and much more enjoyable). Erno

    >I suspect most of the people on rec. have been in the sport a little >longer than you. I'm sure they have. Is that an excuse for rude behaviour?(on recdot, that is) >If you felt so strongly about it, why didn't you post your little whinge >on rec.? Do you disagree with the opinion that discussion at recdot is, shall we say, less civilized? Regardless of the answer, do you think it would be possible to discuss this topic in a constructive manner at recdot? I mean no personal attack, just seemed odd to me that someone would feel so strongly about someone feeling so strongly about recdot...
  15. A bus stops and two Jamaican men get on. They sit down and engage in an animated conversation. The lady sitting behind them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of the men say the following: "Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come once-a-more. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time." "You foul-mouthed swine", retorted the lady indignantly. "In this country we don't talk about our sex lives in public!" "Hey, coola down lady", said the man. "Who talkin' abouta sexa? I'm justa tellin' my frienda how to spella Mississippi".

    >I am just trying to figure out why, given the opportunity and environment, >you would choose to pour energy into a creation such as recdot To each his own I guess... I used to lurk there for a while a couple of years back, but going through all that crap to find something worth reading got old fast.
  17. >I hope you are not flying head down with a loose chest strap! Premature >deployment, and you could go shootin' right out of your harness. Jumping a wingsuit, any deployment can throw you out of the harness if the chest strap is loose. I have once felt the harness slip off my shoulders during deployment(it slipped back though, luckily), and I'm not going to do it again.
  18. >Why? > >Why would you want to use anything other than mil-spec rubber bands? Another thing, one that hasn't been mentioned here... I recently(this last summer that is) started to have serious problems with the skin of my fingers. After a weekend at the DZ, the skin on my fingers would be all dried up and cracked. I didn't connect this with the rubberbands though, until a rigger mentioned it. He'd had the same problem with the regular ones, but it went away when he switched to tubestows. I guess it could be an allergy of some sort. Anyone else with similar experiences? Erno
  19. >guess there arent THAT many scandinavians here in these yank infested forum Hey c'mon, there are plenty! I actually just made a graph showing the geographical distribution of DZcommers. I think that in addition to being greater in numbers, the yanks are also louder than us europeans...

    >Ok, after hearing this google newsgroup First, a misconception must be corrected: recdot is a part of a service called USENET, and Google only gives a web-interface to that service. I might be wrong but I think USENET predates the whole www... >Is there a piece of history I am missing that completes this puzzle or what?? I don't know about that... The thing about DZcom is that it's basicly the domain of one man. If someone has personal issues with Sangiro, they're not too likely to frequent these forums. What I do know is that USENET is a completely unmoderated medium. It's also very easy to post there anonymously. These two things seem to bring out the worst in people... The only thing keeping this place as ' mushy and lovey dovey ' (but I'd use the word ' civilized ') as it is, are the Moderators. Erno
  21. Out of curiosity: Why do you want to know?
  22. Dude, don't cut anything off... Just lengthen the lines and you have one big mother of a canopy! See pics of my "kite" in this thread.
  23. >I thought that Finland was a peaceful country. So did we... >Any news on the reason why the kid did that? Authorities have confirmed that he had problems with his mental health. Rumors say that he recently broke up with his girlfriend. Nothing conclusive so far.
