  1. Hah! You fool! I saw the post last night, and didn't open it. I still haven't. And I wont. No way.
  2. >Blue complaining about strange languages....Oh the irony. Haa haa! Good morning and goeiemôre, respectively.
  3. >It's forbidden to BASE jump from the troll wall, but this is not BASE, >it's just a regular helo jump in an unusual place....argh..cant wait. So is the chopper like hovering right above the exit point?
  4. >Councilman is correct, except that for the fun part. Yeah, who does he think he is, saying skydiving is fun??` >Just trying to figure out a characteristic that would affect forward >speed. This would actually just correlate to the cell height vs lenth at >whatever loading. There would be other factors, crossbracing being the first to come to mind. crossbraced canopies have less spanwise distortion --> smoother airfoil --> less drag --> more speed. Correct me if I'm wrong, people. Also I would imagine line material is a factor ; thinner lines --> less drag --> more speed. Then again maybe I misunterstood your whole point, me not being of the engineering type(much)
  5. >Actually, it's probably best that it didn't have any voice >capability...just some moaning would do nice. > >We would have to do away with any gag reflex it may have too. And there goes the neighbourhood. I mean the thread. To the gutter that is. Can't a geek be left alone to discuss unpractical useless technical projects without making references to that sex thingie I hear so much about?
  6. Thanks! I wonder if someone should ask the Snopes people about this one... maybe they'll add an entry?
  7. >I really figured some more of the ubergeeks would crawl outa >the woodwork an elaborate on this subject. Ahh, what the hell, here goes: I've been thinking about something like this... Although I'd like to make it from recycled parts to save on the cost - $600 is a bit high for me. >I think it wouldn't be to hard to add a mouth an some moving >lips to be worked in concert with a voice program. Hmmm. Not undoable but not easy either. You'd have to use a program that both synthesizes speech _and_ moves the lips. Voice recognition to move the lips wouldn't be practical. And connecting the correct lip-movements with the correct _written_ words would be a lot of work. A more rudimentary solution, one that would move the lips more randomly, should be pretty easy to do.
  8. >Actually the inventor created them with a hole in the middle so you >can't choke to death on hard candy like his daughter did..... This sounds so badly like an urban legend, but I can't seem to find it either at Snopes nor the AFU archive... Can anyone confirm or deny this one? (edit for typo)
  9. Maybe it's a feature on IE that makes any text starting with 'http://' a link. You can try it; Make an html file with an url somewhere on it(but don't make it a link with the tag), open it locally, and see if the link became clickable. It would sound very Microsoftian...
  10. >Aw, c'mon Erno, aren't you the least bit intrigued? It's not that bad! My will is strong. Stainless steel. (until I get curious enough, that is) Maybe I'll open it tomorrow at work. That way I can a good night's sleep once more in my life. Also the mind-numbing boredom of my work should soften the blow some...
  11. HAHAA! The joke's on you! Seeing a post by Skymama with an attachment on it, I was devious enough not to open it! Mwahahahaaa!
  12. This was posted a while ago. I actually linked to the post earlier today in the "what's your color"-thread.

    Rec Dot

    >How the heck do you get to Rec dot anyway. By installing a newsreader... Or using the (not so good)web-based service by Google
  14. >(...)with the pants and the video in tow and complained saying, >"You call them para- trooper pants so I wore them skydiving and >look what happened." They gave him another pair no questions asked. Excellent! Did he get the same kind of pants, or was he brave enough to try taking another pair from the same shop to the sky?
  15. The translator's version is funny: >creation vara woodwork , bound hon discern facts army , comes >antagligen become vældigt smickrad. But the one you made all by yourself is absolutely hilarious: >interacts product jolly/nice. Hope she is seeing army is coming, >presumably be (something?) flatter... Yeah, the jolly norwegian army was coming to flatten you, hope you saw it...
  16. >translation 1 (Norwegian to English) : creation vara woodwork , bound >hon discern facts army , comes antagligen become vældigt smickrad. > >translation 2 (Swedish to English): interacts product nice , hope she >am seeing the hær , am arriving presumably become vældigt flatter. Gotta love 'em translate-a-matics... Swedish it was, I was thrown off a bit by the funny letters, but I guess they don't have propes Ä's in Norway... The Norwegian tranlation is hilarious in it's crazyness... "och BLUEFINGERS verkar vara trevlig, hoppas hon ser det hær, kommer antagligen bli vældigt smickrad..." "and BLUEFINGERS seems nice, I hope she sees this, she'll probably be enormously flattered." ...and to be honest I had to use a dictionary myself, and translate it first to Finnnish and then English...

    Rec Dot

    >Quite often, they give a snide evaluation of dz.com as the > "happy, shining" people. Saying it like it's a bad thing?? I wish I was a happier and shinier person than I am....
  18. >Hmmm....the "satani rippola ilma" is supposed, do I dare to say >it", mean "bloody diarrhea weather" LOL, now I get it, it was just misspelled.. The proper spelling would be "Saatanan ripuli ilma", and it would be pronounced about "SAAh-tun-un RIP-ool-lee EEL-ma" >Yeah, the "beaver boogie" might be clouded/rained away, but beer >is always a reason to travel anywhere...and too cold...for >jumping...nar, never. I'm a Finn! Of course it's never too cold to jump! It's just that we get a lot of clouds and high winds here at this time of year, is it better on the other side of the mountains? >Anyway, real reason for going is that some freinds of mine did that >Troll wall jump last year.. You can jump Trollveggen again? I thought it was forbidden years ago? >it just looks amazing when you see them >them track beside it, and the damn thing is so huge that it looks >like it hardly moves... Well, the mountains do have a tendency to stay where they are... not sure what you meant by that? Erno
  19. >*pleading eyes at both you and Erno* Awww... How can a man resist... Swedish & Norwegian. Except the part with the curse in Finnish. Try a Google search with "language1 language2 online translation" and you should find what you need...
  20. Why do the Fender amps hate you?
  21. >Laser??? she would have needed the death star to sort some of >those pot scourrers out! Hmmm. I'm sure she had a wonderful personality. But I find myself shallow enough to say "You wont see me dating a wookie".
  22. >Breasts?? I don't have hair on my breasts ...but that doesn't mean that's the case with all women... Ick. Thanks for the visual, Pammi...
  23. >hmmmmm you getting some revenge Erno? Mwahahahahaa! Nahh. We were just talking shit about you. Yeah really, we were.hint:that was swedish. I bet you can find an online translator for that;)
  24. -"Nice beaver." -"Thanks, I just had it stuffed."
  25. >you aussies must be proud!!!!!!! I think it's mostly australians that are referred to as "aussies", not austrians.
