And after you people read that crap, you can try these resources, among others: http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/pubs/faq/faq38.htm http://www.niaid.nih.gov/newsroom/focuson/hiv00/default.htm http://www.skeptic.com/03.2.harris-aids.html Although, since they're mostly on websites maintained by "the establishment", they're all a part of the conspiracy... Sigh.

The cables on my GTI seemed too long when I got the suit, this is what Kim Pothuisje at Birdman had to say(emphasis mine): So I guess a lot of people will be trimming their cables or jumping with excessively long cables.

>Where do they get this drivel? From anyone, really. The site in question is a "Wiki", meaning basicly that anyone can edit its contents. If you are not happy with it, please go and edit the contents of the page: Wikipedia: Parachute. Find a link that says "edit this page" and click on it.

The cables on my GTI were too long as well. I emailed Birdman and they said that the cables aren't cut to match the suit and that I should determine the right length for the cables myself. So I did, and trimmed the cables. Not a big deal for me, but I can see how it could be a problem for someone with no experience on working with the Lolon-cable.

The Wikipedia page on parachutes looks much better now... The version quoted in the first post of the thread was quite amusing! It wouldn't hurt to re-write the section on parachute design though. plus there are a lot of related pages that have little or no information on them: Accuracy CF FS Style Freestyle Paraski Wingsuit flying Come on people, contribute!

For what application? If you just fingertrap the outer line on the inner one, you'll leave the frayed edges of the outer line visible, which is not aesthetically pleasing nor practical. For non-skydiving purposes I just usually make a fingertrapped loop on each lengh of line and interlock the loops. For any skydiving application you really want a full length of line.

>Don't but the three ring loop through it. It might be a good idea for Sunpath to include this small bit of information in their manual... On one of the rigs the 3-ring loop goes through the RSL-ring. I'll have the jumper re-route it before the next jump. Thanks for all the replies.

A couple of pictures of an RSL setup that I hadn't seen before. Is this placement of the RSL ring common? Which manufacturers use it? One set of risers that I saw it on was an aftermarket set of Parachutes Australia risers on a Javelin, the other set was of an unknown origin, on a Mirage. I'm not sure whether to A) route the 3-ring fabric loop through the RSL ring(doesn't feel right to mess with the 3-ring) B) route it the way it is in the pictures(it's still "in the way" of the 3-ring release) or C) recommend to the jumpers that they chop the ring off since they don't use it anyway. Any comments?

FXC's are used on the student rigs at the DZ I work at.

Where do you get the medium Super-tack? Paragear only lists the light(50lbs) and the heavy(80-90lbs)?

Here's the old thread about checklists: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=595795;search_string=checklist;#595795 My own checklist has since then been slightly modified, attached is the latest version.

Does anyone know if I can find the FXC 12000 manual somewhere on the web? Or if someone has scans that they would be willing to post/send to me? Thank you.

Does anyone know what type of batteries the Cypres(the original model) uses? Lithium? Cadmium? Is the information available anywhere on the web? Australian customs are holding our batteries hostage until they know what kind of batteries they are(the import duty varies according to the type of battery).

Common usage isn't always correct. AFAIK "Microline" is PD's trade name for Spectra. To avoid confusion, I wouldn't go around calling Vectran "a microline".

I saw someone had "Fly, my pretties, fly!"(Mr Burns in the Simpsons) in their sig. "Continue the research." is his next line in that episode. And, well, you should.

Nope. The freebag on a Naro is quite different from anything else I've seen. I've only packed a Naro twice, and it's been a while, but I think I recall that the freebag actually incorporates a kicker plate for the reserve pc. I don't know of any other manufacturers that do that. Vector2 freebag definitely wont do.

Do you have a link to or a pdf of the actual study?

I've been using EditPlus2 for a couple of years now. I like the fully reconfigurable keyboard shortcuts. The macros are nice, too. I've never used a WYSIWYG editor, and I probably never will.

This has been a really amusing thread. Reminding me that converts are often more fanatic than the ones brought up within a belief system. And making me laugh aloud a couple of times. ie: God just decided to add an appendix? Tough on those who died from appendicitis. >>Boy, God sure has a sense of humor - or way too much time on his hands. . . >> >I always kinda wondered about that whole pesky 6 days ... so just how long is a day to god? > A thousand years, I'm told.

That's what you think.... You can't buy batteries for the Cypres2. They get changed at the 4-year check. So you'll have to send it in when it runs out of juice.

So, all you electronic wizards out there: How difficult would it be to build a separate device with a microphone, lead and a LED, that would attach on the audible, would flash the LED when it "hears" the alarm, and wouldn't be bothered by freefall noise?

I quit six months ago. Again. Thus, at the moment I voted "No". -
Caffeine pills work well. They're not as much fun to consume than coffee or RedBull, but will have the same effect.

I'm saying it can be done. If you don't mind hurtling down a ski-slope at over 100km/h on your belly. Speed skiers do it all the time when they fall down, and not all of them get killed or paralysed...
