To me when it comes to buying gear its what deals you find on equip you can fly I bought my rig with a brand new container, brand new reserve and a used main. The reason I bought brand new was because I got a great deal on it plus I figured my container is FF freindly, and I fly a pd 170 and my rig I know can easily hold a 149 if not smaller. So for me there is PLENTY of room to down size and at the rate I jump it will ba a long time before I get smaller. Therefore There is no need for me to have to get rid of it. however , I do plan to downsize my main so I bought it used. I paid 2250 for it! (saved 1300) for the manufactors!! so to say 4000 for a used rig.............i think thats a little steep!!!! jason

. I did read that in the yr 2000 70% of the skydiving fatalities were caused by low turns , be Hook or swoop or just not paying attention!! IF your jumping by your self you can leave that plane any ol way you want. If your jumping in a formation be ti RW or FF then there are certain ways to exit that make the jump come off better, and you will learn these when you get into it! And freeflying is flying your bdoy in any postition you want be it head down, sit , stand, I'm sure someone else can explain it better jason

Let me jsut say this....I started jumping april of 2001 and now have 69 jumps. In this time I have invested $ 5000 in to skydiving. That coveres training, gear, jumps, lic and some other misc things! However prices will vary on cost of training , gear, and junp tickets!! As for what you should get equip wise thats a hole other can of wowrms. I'd ask around your DZ!! jason

Rollercoasters although still fun dont produce any hyphed up adreniline for me anymore now on the other hand I was up in the mountains and standing on the edge of a (approx) 300-400 ft cliff, and got all kinds of nervous to think that there are people that would jump off this f%cker!!!!!!! I always said I'd like to try BASE, but after being right there n the edge and looking down....................I got a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGGG way to go before I may consider that!!!!!!! I have bungied before and that was scary but I think jumping off that edge would be scarier!!!! jason

I just wanna say I agree with skybytches "put up or shut " quote!!!! Thats One thing I get sick of hearing. "Well I really wnat to do that BUT!!!!!" SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!!! If you really wanted to do it you will and can. I talked a guy into doing a tator ride at our dz and two weeks later he did his first tandem! He came and saw what it was aabout and made his decision. I think most of us here had to struggle some at first to get started, so dont give me any lame excuse about money !! If you scared to ...thats fine its cool ...no problem but dont lead me on with some dumb ass excuse! am I better than anyone else for jumping ...hell no.... do I feel better about myself for jumping,...hell yes!!! jason

A packing mat is usred to pack your rig of coarse. They are just a peice of mat (rug) with too snap or velcro straps that go aorund your risers when you pack. I will not pack without one reason being is that I spent too much money for my container to just drag across the ground. Fig ure when you pack your rig it may get pulled from time to time and if you pack like me , when I do my line stoes I pull the rig instead of walking to it, which means if I didnt have a mat my rig would get pulled across the ground and this could wear down your shoulder straps over even catch a handle on something and pull it. You dont need one but if your anal like me and want you container to stay in good shape I would suggest one,plus you can make your own ..just get a piece of rug that you rig fits on , make or find some strapswith snaps or velcro about 4-5 inches and sew them to the top of the rug parallel with each other and there ya go Mine is home made and I must say looks nicer thatn some I've seen for sale!!! Next time your at your DZ just look around the packing area and you'll see tham all over. jason

Hell we did a jump SAT with temps at -8 f (-22 c) at altitiude (13000). That shit didnt hurt until ya get down and realize your hands are about to fall off ( regular neuman gloves). But damn what a ride. Out here in the winter we'll take what we can get.

Speaking of bars...any of you elsinorians been to the Hide Away? Good god...all I can say is it was worth the experiance just to say you been there ....but thats about it!!!! jason

Thats the great thing about this sport...theres more to learn than almost a lifetime to learn it in. I mean how could anyone say there getting bored with skydiving......can you freefly, can you RW, can you freestyle, swoop , blade run , crew, birdman....etc...!! Hell I'll be greatful if I can become great in two diciplines for the amount I jump!!! jason

Since I just got my protrack and havnt done a sit with it my fastest belly(delta track catching a formation) is 146! jason

I'm with on that Jfields.....I'm a F%cking Geek!!!!!! I wear the helmut and then I HAVE to grab my handles 3 times before leaving the plane, and I mean I'll pretend to throw out the P/C, put my hands up in the air like I'm grabbing my risers and the go for the handles like I'm cutting away!!!! Probably looks goofy and I even had one guy tell me he cant touch his handles before he jumps or else hell have a bad jump! I guess I'm oppsite, but then thats my little superstition jason

I agree...I have a Talon 2 DOM 2001 I havnt had any problems with the bridle. As soon as I put the bag in and rotate it forward I then leay the excess bridal to the topp of the bag, insert pin and thats that!!! Theres nothing there I can see it getting caught on . Now if you shove the shit outta the bridal and stuff it so far in you cant see it then ya there could be a problem. But then the problem is the packer not the container! jason
