I was doing some reading on PD's site about undoing the chest strap and stowing the slider. I am going from a PD 170 (1.01-1) to a hornet 150 (1.14-1) and I read that when undoing the chest strap and pulling down the slider it widens the canopy giving it more lift and better performance. Now at my loading it is considered a class 3 canopy and it says that this will not be a very noticable adjustment. However it said when the strap is undone it causes you to turn with the canopy instead of the canopy turning you and having to catch up with it. To me I would think this would be noticable. I want to start doing this but my question is how many times do I jump like I am now before I should start. Or would it be safe to start right away. I'm not looking to swoop or anything, just to feel and get the fulest glide I can ! How nerve racking is it the first time loosening your strap at 2500-3000ft?? jason

I am always looking out the window for the airport, the direction we'er flying and also the pilot has us look for any traffic that may be coming or going. He's looking to but 4 sets of eyes are better than 1!!! But i'm still learning the wholee spotting thing. I've done about 4 jumps where I was the spotter even one where we were landing in a park and was told good joob on all 4!! But I guess its not too hard to spot for 4 to 5 people!! But its still learning. jason

Alls I know is that you big guys scare the hell outa me when you come swooping in on a formation!!!!!! I was on a threeway with a big guy. Two of left in a two way and he was to swoop. We stabled out looked for him and HOLY SHIT.....!! I saw nothing but huge flapping red and white suit sreaming towards us!!! And when he went big to slow down he looked even BIGGER!!!! SLAMM onto the formation Fun dive but still scared me a little!!! jason

I had the same problems getting my legs out when docking during my AFP. My JM siad to GET THOSE LEGS OUT!!! My fear was that I was going to slam into him too hard but as time went by I learned You HAVE to get those legs out if your going to do any RW! ANd then the next thing you know it all comes together !!! jason

Well you can only help people that will listen......I feel it is the job of the experianced jumpers to help educated us newsbies...and if they dont want to listen then its there ass!!! and if there not listening is a threat or danger to other jumpers in the sky then I feel they should be pulled aside and told either they comply or find a new DZ., If I'm ever seen doing something stupid I would hope that someone would pull me aside and say look dumbass!!! keep this up and your going to get killed or kill someone else!! jason

Well theres always sneaking on an extra cutaway or reserve handle on the plane and then on jump run tell the student this fell off him or ask the instructor if you needed this to jump!! I dont know...never seen it done but heard it talked about on this site! jason

Well its probably a little late to cancell the order seing how I,ve received an e-mail a few days ago saying that the order was processed and underway!! I thought PISA made them and shiiped through his Icarus name, I didnt Know that they were a seperate manufacture. Man its bad enough all the thing s you have to learn to jump outa a plane let alone all the thing to learn when buying a canopy !!!!! Thanks for the info though ....things to think about next itme around!! jason

SKystorm, So wait a minute, if manny is from icarus and is making my hornet, and PISA is the maker of the hornet, is this still the same chute just made by a diff company in SA? And I did do some shopping state side but not in SA! jason

I dont see why any one would be mad as hell at anyone for wanting to be safe. I mean really......does it matter? you think luigi who flies a VX46 is going to look down on one of his team mates that flies a "whatever" 120....NO. I think some people may have the idea that the smaller canopy one flies means there are a better skydiver in the freefall sence. WHICH IS CLEARLY NOT THE CASE!!! Good for you for going with the ZP and if your freind is that upset about it , maybe that should tell you something about him/her!!! jason
