    The floods come

I'm thinking with a hobby like skydive organizing, maybe having another hobby like driving around in the rain taking pictures of wet retail establishments brings a kind of balance. Of course you have the added danger of doing it through deep puddles a car with about a jillion watts of electricity to add some spice to it...
  2. They said stuff like that about Napoleon and it made him get all conquery.
  3. How funny. I just saw Ari walk by. Actually, it was just her braid that I saw, but there's no mistaking it.
  4. Charm somebody into fixing the Booze cam which used to be right there in the bar!
  5. Oh, yeah. Whatever you do, do not justify what you do to a subordinate employee. "What do I do around here?!! I do this and this and this and that! You little maggot!" Would be bad. I would let him know you are aware he feels overwhelmed and use the meeting as a chance to review his work in a positive way. "Whatcha got and where you at" kind of thing. Don't let it turn into a bitch session about the parts of his projects that depend on other people who he may think are slacking. Keep the meeting focused on his assignments, how they are progressing, and his deadlines. Once that is done, let him know he's doing a good job to meet those future deadlines! No need to make threats if he doesn't make them. That comes later, if it's necessary. AFter the meeting, write him a folloy-up memo which summarized the projects status and the deadlines. If he makes the deadlines, give him an attaboy. If he doesn't, then you should have a Personal Improvement Plan meeting with a written record of discussion. I never had an employee fail to respond to that method. Define the path of their success to them, and then encourage them to succeed! If they don't, then document everything and fire their useless selves!
  6. Exactly how long has it been, Shannon? You are now clearly and officially crazy-horny.
  7. First time I jumped Monterey was the first time I met CHopChop, and we went out of the 206 and landed out in the artichoke fields. I had no problems there, they have very nice planes, but I prefer the forward 206 door over the cargo one they have at Monterey. THere's plenty of room in the Otter, because it doesn't have benches, just a nice wrestling mat floor with seatbelts. Both Monterey and Hollister include a van ride back from their landing areas, but Monterey's is much closer than Hollisters, and you have to set your Cypres every jump at Hollister. If you show up solo and are looking for fun jumpers to jump with, you'll have better luck at Hollister. Also consider the other options, Lodi (very inexpensive), Skydance (try out their new PAC 750), Byron (feel the love).
  8. You are delightfully wierd. My dear. JP
  9. Isn't that cool! My kids are super smart! We just spent an hour or so wrapped in blankets watching the lunar eclipse. How children do that sort of thing without wine I'll never figure out! Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. I know there are some new ones out there, but I was very proud they knew my old-school planets via that mnemonic. I hope they remember looking at the moon disappear when they are older. I hope they can choose to be astronauts if they want. Till then, I'm glad they remember their "educated mother" Kids are fun.
  10. He's such a nice guy, though. It's hard to get any time with him, other than a Burking. I got Burked in Sweden, too. I think they call it something like a Burque though. Not cool. I love the SDA boogie experience. These folks know how to have big, safe, fun. When the sun has been up for two hours and you hear "Skyvan 20, 15 minute call" you know you are in Skydiving Heaven. Just. Can't. Wait.
  11. I just checked the Perris cams, wow. The place is pretty wet. I hope it all gets nice and sunny real soon. The plus is the air quality will be great for a few days!
  12. Not too bad, a few ounces. I think it is a more stable system than just a thumbscrew. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=52641&is=REG A thumbscrew alone will work fine, though.
  13. You asked Iwan, but I'll respond. No, you don't have to use a quick release, but both Iwan and I do, the Stroboframe.
  14. That 100th jump is a big deal. Congratulations
  15. You rock, MonoUno, you bastard! Love you both. Best wishes! Deuce! SkyMonkey Jan01, 2004. Coolio!
  16. Ah, Vectorboy, I am praying you understand..... SQUEAL FOR ME BOY! SQUEAL! If not, then I appreciate your effort to inject humor into this thread. From the Appalachias. If the others don't get it, oh well. Fast Eddie from Lodi beats the holy shit out of my abilities. Both in AFF and at BirdMan Suit. But I have never felt intimidated by him. He's REALLY good. Better than the best I've seen so far. But he's not a dick. I have a rating in common with him, but he's better than me. Much better. Doesn't threaten me at all. His wife is astoundingly stunning as well. What to do? I got to fly with him at Byron Boogie, and I made a priority out of making the time to fly with him again soon. He's REALLY good. Best I've seen since Sweden. Folks, get the best experience you can. From folks like Ed, Chuck, and Scott, or folks like me and the other non-rated instructors. Keep it as high as you can.j I do.
  17. Such a pretty girl. What to do with all the pictures. You picked me up and hugged me because of DZ.com An I will never be the same.
  18. Even with me scarfing the bite switch from below, she's styling! Poise, baby, poise!
  19. My. Isn't that one of the best avatar photos ever? You all know it's true. Ha. Edited to acknowledge how amazingly lucky I have been to have known such beautiful, wonderfull people in my short time in this sport. I still laugh at the rest of you! But how lucky I have been! Ha!
  20. And WAIT LISA! This is now MY PAM! I met her at the JFTC calendar shoot, but later I got to video her at Nationals. What a great teacher, and champion. Change your plans, dearie. Hanging out with Pam is the coolest. No Shit. -Uh, Pam? This is a better avatar!
  21. That chloroseptic pump thingie nearly killed me. Don't ever do that again "What's up dad?" "Cough-choke-gag" "Uh, nothing" You Silly Bitches. Golly I love you all.
  22. Thanks, Holmes. But what about the after-action photos?
  23. And you have the amazing Amy in your avatar. The last DZ.commer i have had the amazing pleasure of eating raw fish with. The blessings are deep and far. Coffee with B-Squared would make my life complete.
