I'm not head-down yet (besides for a few attempts) but I am a pilot and to me, head-down seems to be the most natural flight position for the human body... It puts the lengthwise span of your body parallel to the relative wind, making you more streamlined for faster speed but it's not just about the sensation of speed. With greater speed comes greater manuverability. Your original post lends itself to the thought that one cannot maneuver relative to another in HD. This is obviously far from the truth. I had a dream a few years ago where I was shot in the chest from about four feet away. Knowing that dreams only take a few seconds, the apparent duration of this one was like 5 minutes. A friend of mine fired the pistol and then it went slow-mo like in the matrix (movie was not made yet ;-) The entire 'five minutes' consisted of my watching the bullet close the distance between us, strike and enter my chest, and me falling backwards onto the ground and dying. The sounds were not affected by the slow motion though... wierd 'cause when the bullet hit my chest, it sounded like a slab of meat hitting a table but the sound was over before the bullet had even broken the skin. I looked down (was able to 'see' in real-time) and watched it slip into me, felt it slowly pick me up off my feet from about the centre of my chest and back, carry me a few feet back and put me backdown on my feet when I feel rigidly backwards. Then I was looking at the sky, then I was thinking of my mother, then I was dying... then I was dead... woke up here... ALIVE obviously. shook me up quite a bit My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Lets not bash anyone on a public forum. There are good people at STI, and the Chows are trying very hard to get a business going. Good on them. Absolutely, my belt is off at a grand because that's where I think it becomes safer to get out than to land with the aircraft should it "go down"... but at a thousand feet (especially with a Spectre as a main), I'm going for silver right out the door... Did my 100th jumpt last night at Sunset. 15 of us had the Otter to ourselves (minus a hop and pop) for a tracking dive, got some video, it was Awesome!!! It was the closest I ever got- and stayed- to the leader yet :-) I should have some still to post soon. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

My sit came along SO quickly with a little help from a buddy. If it's spending time on your back that is hindering you... Try stretching the arms out as you should in sit, but a little 'upwards'... bring your knees right up to your chest... Now you are a space-ball and your arms/hands are the ribbon (get it?) Let the arms stream above you and use only you hands to make slight corrections but this position will most definately but you butt-down-head-up. From here, you can focus on slowly pushing the heels down. Making the transifion slowly will give you a better feel for how changes in your body position affects your flight. It shoud feel just like getting up out of a chair and you'll notice your arms compensating for it. Remember 90 degrees! Arms 90degrees to the torso, knees bent at 90 degrees and 90 degrees apart (if you were looking 'birds-eye' downwards, there would be a 90degree angle at the crotch) I hope that helps. Definately do the space-ball a la cannon ball though on your next attempt, it will get you properly orientated... a little fast but properly orientated. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Well, Honey passed away yesterday at 4:26. She died peacefully, at home with her head in my lap. I thanked God for her holding out until I got home so I could be with her, I thanked God that she did not suffer. She smiled and looked me in the eye right until her heart stopped. I thanked him that we did not have to take her in to be put down and that her last week was a good one. (She had been very energetic and happy since our little scare last week) Thank you all for your good vibes, Honey appreciated them too :-). I am at peace with her loss, she was 12 years old and had a wonderful family to live with. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
