  1. Where's the option for cushy reclining seats and an in-flight movie? lol, I'll go with faster climb assuming you left maintenance out because it's a no-brainer. Yup, faster climb... my butt get's reall numb on loooong trips... hey wait! Where's the option for cushy reclining seats?... and an in-flight... Oh, uh My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  2. gerrcoin makes an excellent point too. And that's that other than climbing out and jumping, the S/L student has nothing other than certain EPs (one handle to pull) and flying his/her canopy to focus on for the entire handful of first jumps. The AFF student is likely using a LOT more chi, to focus on remaining stable, all the EPs, altitude awareness etc. Before he/she is even in the saddle. If you were a whuffo, and went to a 'skydiving school' (hehe) and the first thing you learn is flying under nylon, then that's forever going to be the first thing you learned. I'm not knocking AFF, I obviously progressed S/L but I know what AFF entails and I'll never knock it... Nor tandem progression... actually, to me, Tandem progression is what would give you the best of both worlds. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  3. Nope Uh-huh I am. But more in a "One training method in particular may be better for YOU." Kinda way. Also dealing with the individual. Hey, that's cool. Tak on "IMO" like I did and it's better though My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

    Check your PM

Some people do not notice the red indicator... I've been guilty of the same My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  5. I think I caught your drift. Well, all I can think to say is that an airplane is shaped a certain way for a reason. Belly-to-earh, sit and head-down are just standards. Good, aerodynamic geometric shapes for flight. Nobody stays in "the perfect sit" because the perfect sit would have you falling straight down... not much fun if you wanna fly around. A friend of mine once said that headdown lends itself most to the concept and dream of human flight. Think about it, when one pictures him/herself flying, it's usually in the horizontal, superman, style... well, the relative wind is different when falling, so headdown will get you parallel to it.. you are streamlined and your flight controls most resemble those of a real airplane at this point. The "Idea" of freeflight was to help eliminate the concept that all we do as skydivers is "fall". It's not so much about different body positions... more about maneuverability. The body positions are what have been developped to best "Fly around" relative to one another. You're right... it IS hard to word. Hope I'm clear enough. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  6. .... Now, was I talking about the patch, or the thong? I'll never tell. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  7. I'd be proud to wear one
  8. Not to mention the numbers involved and traffic. Again refering to Cessna land, we put a plane in the air with 4 static line students and an instructor... well the instructor always lands first leaving the 4 students in the air with radio guidance from someone else on the ground. If those 4 students listen to the radio guidance (and the one providing it is not a complete muppet), then they learn how to fit into the pattern with traffic around them. They can hear what is being said to the other jumpers and are more privy to the 'big picture'. An Aff student jumps out with two instructors and is given great seperation before another student leaves with two more instructors. This student get his/her radio guidance and makes a nice landing but does not get the same "big picture". It's a small factor, but still a valid one IMO seeing as being a good "canopy pilot" is not all about your landing but also about how you deal with other canopies around you. 9. Not outdated, just different. I suggest S/L to anyone I KNOW is going to do well and stick to it. It's faster and cheaper. I suggest Tandem to anyone that just wants to try first. (We don't have any AFF in these parts) Here in Ontario, it's Cessna land so S/L is popular. I also think you come away from S/L progression with a different mentality. Ask anyone just recently off AFF about their first Hop N' Pop and they'll tell you they shit their pants at how low the plane was. S/L students progress to LOVING hop n' pops... (and a lot of 'em shit their pants on their first high alti... out of excitement) I would go so far as to say that S/L student make for better canopy pilots in the long run because since Day one, they were alone under canopy (with radio) and of all the skydivers I've met, the S/L ones are always first to shout "Let's do a hop n' pop!" when the clouds won't let you go high. Anyway, I digress... YES! Jump again, jump all your heart desires
  10. Hey! Did you all hear the one about the woman that left her husband for a tracktor salesman? ......................................................................................... She left him a John Dear letter My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  11. Don't think twice -Bob Dylan I love it for it's subtleties It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe If you don't know by now An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe It'll never do somehow When your rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I'll be gone You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on Don't think twice, it's all right It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe That light I never knowed An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe I'm on the dark side of the road Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say To try and make me change my mind and stay We never did too much talkin' anyway So don't think twice, it's all right So it ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal Like you never done before It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal I can't hear you any more I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' walking down the road I once loved a woman, a child I'm told I give her my heart but she wanted my soul But don't think twice, it's all right So long, honey bee Where I'm bound, I can't tell But goodbye's too good a word, babe So I'll just say fare thee well I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind You could have done better but I don't mind You just kinda wasted my precious time But don't think twice, it's all right My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

    Sit Fly

On a solo, try what I call the "human space-ball" exit
  13. If someone would host it, I've got vid of my first Head Down attempt that worked.
  14. Paper trail? How about a paper room?? Iraq provided piles and piles of information pertaining to their weapons programs. All of which was deemed unsatisfactory by the U.S. There is no 'proff' that would have made him happy. Let us not forget the UN inspectors who conclusively found nothing... Who argued with the Bush administration that there was NOTHING. What do you suppose was in their best interest? The safety of innocent people or the protection of Saddams stockpiles of WMD? Unfortunately, the UN inspectors are the ones who fell victims of the spin as their efforts became the butt of many an American Joke. It is the burden of the U.S. war maching that is upon Iraq... not proof. GW just happens to be the leader of the U.S. nation. He also just happens to be the one who made the decision to invade. Nobody spun this into a GW thing... he did that all on his own. He's the one who goes into the 'axis of evil' crap anytime someone takes a harder then agreed upon line of questioning concerning his motives. He's the one with no explanation for his actions. 15. Is this proof enough that the world is right in calling BS ? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  16. Looks good on ya bro! Definate improvement One jump with video is like 10 jumps without when it comes to coaching my friend. Keep it up. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  17. now that you mention it... yes. yes it does. to me it doesnt look like wind was an issue. dude had to set it down and promptly did so in quite short soilingly stylish fashion. It is the Hong Kong approach. And there is a wind issue here too. He's landing with a very slight tail wind... which is likely responsible for blowing the turn to final. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  18. You mean the Budweiser add? The one where the donkey was trying to make it as a Clidesdale? That was funny! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  19. Very sorry to hear that girl. You take care of your exams though, concentrate. Sending vibes your way from Ontario. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  20. Hear hear! Regulation blows! Wether or not this 99% figure is correct, education is just as valid an answer as regulation... IMO, a much better one. I doubt very much, this 99% figure but I hear a lot of "I told him so" following incidents involving low experienced jumpers under highly loaded canopies. Don't rely on someone else to impose rules on our population... Just educate your own and don't let people act stupid and go in on your property. Let's not forget that any DZO has the right to deny any jumper at any time! If you tell someone they don't have the experience to fly a certain canopy yet, and they scoff at you and go buy it anyway, don't let 'em on your plane! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  21. Thanks for the info Phree. I had made no reference to Thomas' post. However, perhaps you'd like to make your insinuation a little clearer? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  22. Hey Justin, True what you say, but I haven't had any problems getting on larger jumps. Like I said, If things get tighter, I'll look at getting a B. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  23. Yeah, I'm not interested in obtaining another licence... my Canadian A allows me on a load at any DZ in the world... if something changes, perhaps I will, but I'd just as soon spend the money on jumps and coaching. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
  24. I'm positive you're talking about the Out of the Blue vid. It was in Chamoni, France. Some of the highest peaks in the area. Some would take days or weeks to climb to the top of one... these guys drag a toe across several in one pass
  25. That's true for the most part. However, a high frequency of claims (even not at fault ones) can have you placed in a new risk group affecting your premiums. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
