Really unimpressed with arrogant twatmuppets.
ridestrong replied to Calvin19's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Recommending 1:1 wing loading is fine, but it seems like overkill even at Mile-Hi or Conifer Bandit DZ especially at near 500 jumps. This would make more sense for someone who only jumps at sea level and has little or no experience at higher altitudes. My guess is that this was at Mile-Hi by some of the previous comments. You (Calvin) should keep jumping there, that guy your talking about is actually pretty cool if you get to know him, but otherwise he can be a bit stand-offish. Regardless there are a lot of fun people up there to jump with. Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving. *I am not afraid of dying... so the generous wait staff get together at the shift end and all pool the tip so the back counter staff can get their fair share??? Dont think so I used to work at a busy Embassy Suites we had a full service bar & restaurant as well as large banquet functions, weddings etc... At the end of the night/shift we would give the bussers/dishwashers a cut of our tips. I also worked the complimentary bar that we offered for 2 hours every night where I usually made between $100 and $200 dollars. One of the dishwashers would usually help me bus tables and grab ice, at the end of the shift I usually gave him $20-$50 depending on how busy I was. and you think that is SOP for all restaurants ?? I don't know... but you probably don't either... I'm sure that there are restaurants that have allocation procedures in place and others that don't. The one's that don't would hopefully pay the dishwashers etc the going rate for washing dishes (likely minimum wage). *I am not afraid of dying... I've always felt it is better to follow up with a formal letter. It will likely make it to the desk of the intended recipient and not go as easily dismissed as a quick voice mail. Letters should especially be sent out after an interview. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

How many sex partners have you had in your life?

not that what you say didn't happen, but this is the start of about a thousand different chain emails that relay some horrible event that everyone needs to be aware of. they all end with "forward this to everyone in your address book". they then end up in my inbox where i then check snopes to find that they are false. Fu(k those chain emails... I once got one forwarded from a friend of mine that said: 'If you don't forward this to 20 people you will get a virus and your computer will no longer work.' First off, I simply deleted it and cursed her an idiot under my breath. Never got a virus of course. Then it made me think.. how did she chose which 20 people to forward that email to.... haha bitch. *I am not afraid of dying... :3:case Owed beer for landing in the gravel near the whuffo spectator tent, cause I didn't want to land in the mud. There was no one there and it's still separated by an orange mesh fence. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Let's be frank, tending bar is not hard work. Busing tables is harder work and they don't make nearly as much. It's dealing with drunk assholes that's "hard work". I had a hell-a-lot of fun when I was a bartender, but I'd much rather be on the other side of the bar. *I am not afraid of dying... A couple rants. 1. If your going to make pics of your kids your profile picture all the time then why not just make a private page for your kids. I have no problem with you making all the picture folders you want for your kids on your page but leave your profile pic for you. 2. If you don't want people to know private information about your kids or their pictures to show up on some whack job kiddie porn site then don't post that shit or be sure to keep it private. This was based off of a story my receptionist told me today about a friend of hers who found a pic of one of her kids on a porn site that was taken from her facebook page. My first question was how did she come across this info (the porn site) and apparently she was tipped off by some monitoring agency. Didn't make a lot of sense to me how she found out but either way don't be an idiot and post stuff you don't want anyone with a computer to see and then act surprised by your own stupidity. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Unless there is a window we can't see, that is complete overcast and they flew above the cieling. If in the US against USPA/FAA regulations. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). Just makes me wonder if it's real where it is. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

I think Tami is being a bit modest... If I served someone 5 beers/drinks over a 2 hour period and only made a $1 off that person they would be written off as a shitty tipper hands down. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

I used to be a bartender ~7 years ago and still have friends in the service industry. Usually if you give your bartender a good tip initially they will take care of you in the future. If I plan on frequenting a bar I will give the bartenders great tips initially and often find myself getting free drinks down the road, and still tip about $1 per tip or 20% depending on the tab, sometimes I will get 50% of my tab off. In general, you should tip about $1 per drink. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Billy, We aren't there yet but did you see the Canada-Russia game? We dominated the Russians. Sunday afternoon is going to be an awesome game. USA has to bring their A game if they want to have a chance. Go Canada! Murray Uuh yeah.... I agree, but it's Canada that will have to bring their 'A' game if they want to have a chance. USA already beat Canada once. Canada up 2-0 over Sweden near the end of the 1st. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Haha... for every event that offers medals for both men and women, there will be exactly the same number of medals awarded to women as men. But I do like how your comment insinuates that more women have won medals than men. A good example of how portraying factual data can help argue a false point. You may have meant it was a good thing for those individual countries, in which case I agree with your statement. *I am not afraid of dying... Canadian Politicial heading to USA for Heart Surgery
ridestrong replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Not if the Risks are higher and it's not as effective. The rates of stroke are higher in the minimally invasive procedure he had done the the repair to the valve is not as effective. That's why the doctor doesn't offer or recommended it. >>"Hugues Jeanmart, a cardiac surgeon at the Montreal Heart Institute, and nearby Sacré Coeur Hospital, disagreed with Mesana, saying the less invasive surgery is as safe and effective as traditional methods, with fewer complications. As well, he said the advantages of the procedure, which has been around since the 1990s, are more pronounced than Mesana suggests, particularly when it comes to recovery. "(Patients) have less pain, they have less chance of bleeding (and) the risk of having a chest infection is very, very low," Jeanmart said. "The patient can leave the hospital and, as soon as they're home, they can do what they want." Recovery from the larger chest incisions, known as sternotomies, typically takes about six to eight weeks because more time is needed for bones to heal." --- When it comes to minimally invasive surgeries (MIS) there are usually fewer end risks than with traditional/open surgery. This is dependent upon the skill and experience of the surgeon. Since MIS is a newer technique there will be a learning curve and likely some greater risks in the hands of inexperienced surgeons. Eventually, the procedures that are now being offered through MIS will predominantly/exclusively be done over traditional open surgery. The surgeons that do not move forward with the advancements in their fields will be left behind. *I am not afraid of dying... More minimally invasive approaches are the future of surgery. Physicians that aren't already utilizing minimally invasive techniques are behind the times. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
