  1. Did the rigger who did your reserve repack also pack your main for that jump?? *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  2. How many instructors did you have? One? *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  3. My first was a few months ago. Fast spinning mal, cutaway with Skyhook. I remember putting both my hands on my cutaway handle taking a breath and thinking here it goes. Skyhook was unreal fast and I had a great reserve ride. I rented gear the rest of the day and did 3 more jumps. The experience didn't change a lot for me other than make me feel more comfortable with the idea of a future cutaway if need be. *I am not afraid of dying... 7. Going to be in Ann Arbor over the July 24th weekend and wanted to see if anyone jumps around there? And also if you'd like to meet at the dz for some jumps. *WARNING* - you should possess skydiving skills sufficient enough to not let me kill you if we are on the same load. *I am not afraid of dying... 8. Agreed... and not only that but dz.com seems to be turning into an overly sensitive, pc, whiny site where everyone takes everything way to personally. Other than that it's still pretty cool. Fuck You...You don;t know shit about what your talking about.... [/sarcasim] That was funny.... and true too. *I am not afraid of dying... 10. To paraphrase Louis Theroux, "it doesn't offend me, I just think less of you (people using term dorkzone)" I agree. Some people will say something moderately offensive. Then, they feel they have the right to designate what is an appropriate response. It seems like a stupid and arrogant assumption. Perhaps I have missed the positive connotation of dork in common usage today. I also reserve the right to determine the magnitude of words. Miniscule is a personal measurement. If someone minimizes their offensiveness by saying they were only being a little offensive, it does seem like a ridiculous thing to say. "I was only offending a little" ? I guess I am just more direct than that. I try to say what I mean and stand behind it. Sophistry is not a compliment. It is the tool of the dishonest. Maybe this will help... it's an extremely wise and valuable life lesson I learned in kindergarten: 'Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me.' (and neither will emoticons)
  11. Tunnel.... same exact thing though. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  12. And just maybe if you walked away from all those landings it means you get to keep jumping while you learn that judgment. Landing is harder for some people than others, but they can't decide not to do it. It's better to take a safe landing while you learn what the ground really looks like coming up than it is to try to do everything at once. Wendy P. Can't argue with that. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  13. To paraphrase Louis Theroux, "it doesn't offend me, I just think less of you (people using term dorkzone)" Hmmm.... The way I see it, this is 'dorkzone' from time to time. Sometimes it's dorkzone because of goofy/silly posts. Sometimes it's dorkzone because of ridiculous arguments. Sometimes it's dorkzone because of nerdy technicalities. Sometimes it's dorkzone because most of us can be dorks at times. Do I think this is 'dorkzone'... yeah sometimes, but I'm also gladly a part of dorkzone. To paraphrase Carl Gustav Jung, “Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  14. It's often better to be silent and let those around you think you may be ignorant, than to speak and prove their point. Seems like a fairly logical statement to me.... 'try to stand up your landings when you can, but always be prepared to PLF.' Call me crazy but, I personally try to stand up all my landings unless I feel it will be unsafe to do so. There is nothing wrong with PLF landings, but when you have MORE PLFs than stand up landings maybe you just suck at landing. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  15. Or maybe skydivers in general think they are more intelligent than they really are..., and are too easily offended by something as minuscule as the reference 'dorkzone'. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

  18. have you seen anything else on a more or less modern container!? Yeah, all the Wings containers seem to have the line outside of the bridle..., and I thought maybe some of the older Mirages but I could be mistaken? You must be talking about the short section of the kill line that is inside the deployment bag. I think you'll find that the fully enclosed kill line is the exception. Most kill line pilot chutes have some kill line exposed inside the d-bag. Yeah, I was referring to the portion of the the kill line between the d-bag and the PC... there is NO exposed/external kill line with the Vector bridle. Can't say I've ever really heard of it being a problem, just seems like it could more likely get tangled or knotted being exposed and not fully internal... I guess I just like the idea or aesthetics of it. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  19. porcelain chips??? OK, how are these useful? I was going to give you a hard time - but i couldn't find any reference with a quick search. The porcelain is much harder than glass and is used to "pop" or shatter a piece of tempered glass. More specifically... if you take even a small chip of porcelain from a spark plug and throw it at a window/tempered glass it will shatter it. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

  21. I have a set that is slighlty more advanced than the "beginer" set on that site. I can pick most Master pad locks in less than a minute. And I have picked every dead-bolt I've ever attempted, some took significantly longer than others. Good thread... I'm going to have to grab my set and a pad lock now. ETA: just wanted to add that out of the 12 or so picks that my set came with, I only use about 3 of them almost exclusively. *I am not afraid of dying... 23. there, fixed it for you! +1 V3!!!!!! Infinity- is the most uncomfortable container that I have ever jumped with, felt like I had a wood plank on my back. Mirage G4- is the softest most comfortable container that I have jumped with. Vector3- is comfortable and has some great features that the other containers don't: magnetic riser covers +1, Skyhook +2, I also like the internal kill-line in the bridal for the collapsible PC. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  24. Same goes for Mile-Hi... add the hot air and higher altitude and your going to want to avoid some of those downwinders. I should add that everyone is to land in the same direction as the first person down, regardless of changes in wind direction once the pattern is set. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
  25. As you know this is a discussion in another thread... At the dz I jump at we follow the first person down, who is supposed to land with the 'big red arrow'. When you have an Otter with 26 jumpers it doesn't make sense to plan the landing direction before boarding when the wind can be blowing in the opposite direction on landing. 9 times out of 10 following the first person down will give you an up-wind landing and it's not that difficult to do. In the event that the arrow does a 180 after the first person down we still maintain the same landing pattern.. Swoopers and others who choose to land at/near the pond are exempt from the designated pattern. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
