It's pretty safe to say that FF is technically 'harder' than belly-flying and therefore (in groups) so is adjusting fall-rate, docking, etc... *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Obama upset about the oil spill "blame game"... Seriously?
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in Speakers Corner
A clearly frustrated President Obama on Friday said that the system for preventing accidents like the April 20 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico "failed badly," while calling the "blame game" among oil executives at Senate hearings this week "a ridiculous spectacle." ---- Just a bit hypocritical since he is the king of the blame game and finger pointing. BP is at fault and needs to pay every last cent to clean this up, not the US tax payers or anyone else. *I am not afraid of dying... You beat me to it... I was going to add those South Park pics. That was a pretty funny episode. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

I don't see any of that at our dz either, there are just as many belly-fliers as free-fliers. I enjoy a good tracking dive and speed star now and then but I prefer the flying challenge of FF. I started getting bored of belly flying before I hit 50 jumps. Exiting in a base or turning points.... boring. That being said I'm still happier than not to just be jumping out of the plane with fellow jumpers. This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaMUd4vXviU&playnext_from=TL&videos=bl-eKMBFvW8&fmt=34 is what inspires me. *I am not afraid of dying... Fusion vs. Artificial Disc Replacement
ridestrong replied to morejumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I do both cervical fusions (ACDF) and cervical artificial disc replacements (ADR). ARD is usually not recommended for more than one level. Patients that have the fusion/ACDF usually do really well, with very little pain, even with multiple levels fused. Lumbar (lower back) fusions on the other hand have a much longer recovery period and usually more post-op discomfort. Feel free to PM me if you'd like, I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. *I am not afraid of dying... AMAZING!!! Dog saves another dog by dragging it off the highway.
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in The Bonfire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofpYRITtLSg&feature=related&fmt=34 Most of you have probably already seen this. This dog is better than half the humans walking around here (in particular those that made the news recently in NYC). *I am not afraid of dying... Malfunction/Cutaway & Ground Crash Video
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Actually I'm not that bad looking, so I don't know why I would have that appearance... *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Malfunction/Cutaway & Ground Crash Video
ridestrong replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey Grant, yeah most of that was already discussed... I don't think I ever said I would disconnect my RSL, probably just the opposite. I have no intentions of disconnecting it whether I'm jumping with camera or not. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
I can tell you that I LOVE my Safire2, it's an extremely versatile canopy. As for the openings... You can easily pack yourself soft sniveling openings by tucking the nose and a good cocoon, or adjust to quicker by still tucking the nose with less cocoon, or no tuck and little cocoon etc... I've found I can have what ever speed opening I want by tweaking the packing. I agree that the front risers take a fair amount of pressure but if you flare slightly first then pull down on the front risers you will get MUCH more out of it. Talk to someone that really knows this canopy, like I said it's extremely versatile. I learn more about it every jump. *I am not afraid of dying... New container for first rig
ridestrong replied to JohnnyMarko's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not trying to pick a fight with you, but with a little research you can have a pretty good idea of what you want and don't want in a rig. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
BTW.. I'm pretty sure it's somehow due to racism, but I'm still trying to figure it out. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

That's a fantastic attitude. Remind me never to jump with you. I'm sure you'll feel just great if one of those people you gave a "fake" pin check ended up injured from a malfunction of some sort. I wasn't being serious... guess I should have added a or a or a Now checking to see if the PC is cocked that's a whole different story. *I am not afraid of dying... I only give 'real' pin checks to people I like, everyone else gets a fake one with a 'it's all-good' pat on the back. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

+2 Same goes for that girl who complained about the jumpsuit deal gone bad with the Australian or New Zealand guy (forget which country) that was posted in The Bonfire. She tried everything she could think of to no avail, before coming on here. +3 Maybe it was actually this thread that lit the fire. *I am not afraid of dying... Your chest strap will be at your chin when your under canopy. ... also probably not a cheap adjustment/modification. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

Regardless of financial situations, if boy and girl are not married it is completely foolish to even consider having both on the mortgage. Boy is a dumb shit if he can buy the home independently but puts girl on mortgage 'just so she feels better about it'.... stupid. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

I hope you don't kill someone else trying to "learn the hard way". Seems like you're only concerned with yourself not your fellow jumpers that may be in the air with you. That's quite the general assumption... -------------------- On topic: Our dz has started strictly enforcing landing patter to follow the first person down (who is to land with the 'arrow'). Not following the pattern will get you one warning and then grounded. There is an exception for swoopers coming in over the swooping pond which is well away from the general landing area. As for winds, unfortunately they are often times unpredictable and sometimes can't be avoided. DZO's should be shutting down ops when winds are too high or gusting until conditions improve. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----

New container for first rig
ridestrong replied to JohnnyMarko's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'll just wait for the first person to tell you that, "if you don't get an AAD for yourself, do it for the safety of those around you." I love those posts. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
New container for first rig
ridestrong replied to JohnnyMarko's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Buying a used container is for people that can't afford a new one.. I bought a new container (obviously custom fitted) and I'm glad I did. There's always someone at the dz who bought a used container and it doesn't fit them right and they're trying to sell it 20 jumps later. Don't be that guy. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.---- -
Have boy and girl already been living together for a while? If not then having both on the new mortgage would be about the worst idea ever. Boy should save himself from a potentially massive headache and buy the house solo. Or marry the girl and quit bitching about it. *I am not afraid of dying... I am afraid of missing life.* ----Disclaimer: I don't know shit about skydiving.----
