  1. yeah a min Boc made out of spandex sure is a lot of upkeep... when it breaks your back to what you have now
  2. how about a pouch within a pouch...the razor (base rig by Morpheus tech.) actually has that feature for when stowing the pilot chute in the legpouch of a wingsuit... the problem is of course too high pull force thus leading to pc in burble...
  3. I have been skydiving for a year now... in this time I have already seen my fair share of fuck ups... and heard about ganrly fuckup that happend at the DZ's I have been jumping. I have in this time... seen a jumper have to do a canopy transfer to survive... I have seen a jumper go unstable at 2 grand an tumble and barley beat his AAD by punching out his reserve.... I have almost eaten a PC.....I was on the ground when a jumper had a horseshoe...I jumped the next day after 2 jumpers both had AAD fires that resulted in two out... I have had a friend be invovled in a canopy collision... only incidents have their section.... close calls sometimes pop up in safety and traning or in general skydiving discussion.... I would really like to see the creation of a forum where these close calls can be discussed
  4. sure there is....all that needs to happen is for the bridle to hit the airstream before you are able to release the hackey/pud or whatever you use to pull the sucker. Basejumpers don't jump internal handles or double point attached pvc tubes for no reason.
  5. Is it theorteically possible to build a pc that when any part of which becomes entangled with the bridle still inflates to some degree or another? Like a zp nylon ball with 6 mesh covered holes... just gotta make sure that inflow>outflow ...so gotta enginer some sort of valve?... Or get rid of the handle...still i have seen entangled pcs without handles though (base)...is this possible, excuse 1 am brainfarts.
  6. problem was solved today... thx for the input everybody
  7. > I have shown it to various riggers and they are all suspicious of it but not overly concerned none of them have grounded it (we are talking master riggers a two different drop zones and various other experienced jumpers). I have been jumping this rig for 50 jumps plus and there has not been any movement in the pin. MY biggest fear has been that a hard opening may in fact dislodge pin. However, under canopy there is more excess then when the mains in the bag. p.s. see you in the incidents ;)
  8. I got my reserve packed recently and was very surprised to find that when I put my rig on and tighten it down tightly that the bolt, which connects the cable and D ring, is almost all the way against the metal; there is hardly any excess cable (maybe half an inch when its really tight). Today I called the manufacturer and it turns out that my rigger apparently swapped the reserve cables from two different containers. Mine was replaced by a 2 inch shorter cable. I have shown it to various riggers and they are all suspicious of it but not overly concerned. I have been jumping the rig, making clear to everybody I am jumping with to leave their f****** hands of any part of my rig as well as getting two pin check on average per jump. Also I have had people look at the pin as the rig is tightend down as much as possible and as I contort my body in as many directions as possible (with the goal of putting as much tension on the pin as possible). ITs clear that I am less then happy with the situation and I don't need any alarmists screaming I am going to die. I am just curious if there are people out there that have had a really tight reserve cable and ideally the stories where that led to problems. Thx in advance
  9. is it harder to stand stil on steady ground or during an earth quake?
  10. There aren't too many stories on dz.com about tension knots. As a new jumper with an interest in base, I'd like to hear from people who have had tension knots and resolved them without chopping (or had them on a reserve ride). If TMs could chime in that be great. If possible provide info as to the type of equipment used, how many jumps on lines, location of the knot, severity of the malfunction (how hard was it diving) and whatever other peculiar details of the incident you might find worthy of mention
  11. Well when would you be in town and for how long? I live in Pomona which is around 40 mins from downtown LA. So if your interested and our schedules work out I could do it no problem. However, the problem with the frequent flter account is that you are on standby time. Meaning: you can't schedule time and you can get bumped. So often times (especially during the day) you end up waiting around for an hour or more before you get to fly 10 mins or so. Even if you show up at 8pm you still might wait for a bit. Lemme know in case you wanna go.
  12. bump.... looking to get a set of active noise control earplugs for skydiving (on the way to altitude). Anyone have recs?
  13. Worst case... go to Perris if you are in town and bug some of the freefliers down there with accounts. They can fly you on theirs. If I have time the day you are in town I could do it myself.
  14. unless your trolling --> noise and cat ear combo, bad idea.
  15. Why I dont get wind in my eyes, I don't really know. Strangely they work better then all skydiving goggles I have owned so far (those really flat space age looking ones and the standard cheap plastic shits you get in the tunnel). I always had trouble with wind getting into my skydiving goggles before. If you go with sunglasses make sure you get urself those strings to keep them on your head and which allows you to fit them more snuggly to your face. I have attained speeds of up to 275 mph in speed track dives and have had no problems with my Rays (no wind probs at all) whereas with my regular skydiving goggles I woudln't have seen shit. Hope this helps...
  16. I jump Ray-Ban Wayfarer 10 dollar imitations
  17. Hi....got 250 jumps. Weigh around 190 out the door. Currently under sabre 2 190. Can land canopy downwind (and have). Can change heading by 90 degrees on flare/flair (sp?). Have landed canopy on rears (3 times). Experimenting with double front approaches (maybe the last 60 jumps or so) and 45-90 front to double front approaches. Feel confident under this canopy. I would def consider downsizing if not for the fact that I was going to get into wingsuiting very soon. I was thinking to downsize to maybe a 170 spectre or 170 storm. Just wondering what the hive mind thinks.

  19. hmm ... no i just havent updated my profile in a while . when i started this thread I had 190.. I dont do belly and have been freeflying and tracking since jump number 15 or so (you cant do that its impossible)...nobody has yet answered my question. Hints are not answers..at least not for someone that is as slow as me
  20. Is it the demo helciopter tree story - i.e. adding (changing) one variable makes shit more complicated? or about the belly cam and how that messed her up (i.e trying to the shot subconciously) sooner or later Ill hurt myself.. ill be surprised if I wont (not that I dont take a lot of measures against that) ... if you play with fire ... well
  21. arghh.... ok Ill re-read it ... but if I dont find it would you please tell me so I don't kill myself tomorrow?
  22. I only ride asses... the animals that is.... I am not gonna sacrifice a good shot for safety ...thats just sarcasm... im sure it could happen (as one camera guy told me who snapped is best shot at 1500 feet) ... seriously though fuck the shot ... there is always another jump... I am still puzzled by this mysterious hidden danger... can someone please clarify ... I did not find it in the sticky... a copy and past would be apprciated
  23. I'm not gonna sacrifice a potentially good shot for my safety, thats just plain stupid. Lets take it to the basement
  24. p.s. I went to Perris today and talked to two very experienced camera flyers... oddly enough there was no mention of this most dangerous and mysterious aspect of camera flying that you guys here have alluded to.... what I heard is (once again since this isnt the first time I talked to people about this shananigan) - entanglement, whiplash, AA (safety first, camera second) and more complicated reserve procedure. So what am I missing here?
