A little bird told me that Switzerland does not have a requirement for a reserve. Haven't looked into it but my gut tells me that this isn't likely. It came up in a wouldn't it be cool to have a proximity flying DZ conversation. Sure would be nice. Flying a skyrig next to a mountain - no thank you. But yeah regulation is great.

modding Wingsuit smaller armwings relative to leg wing?
Freeflaw replied to 5.samadhi's topic in Wing Suit Flying
A buddy of mine flies a mach one or raptor with the arms trimmed to the size of a phantom. He uses it a lot for flocking with smaller suits (Xbird is his regular weapon of choice). He just unstiched the wings from the body half way and then rolled the wing onto itself and taped it. After he had figured out the ideal amount of wing for his purposes he had me trim and sew them up. Also: If Yuri_base is ever on here...he has taken the prodigy legwing out of planes for shits n giggles and really enjoyed it. Also: on a V2 roll stability might suffer given the narrower legwing maybe? Just some rambling to add to yours. -
Looking to buy a FF suit suited also for lots of tunnel. I'm about 6' 160lbs. Have about 10 hours in the tunnel. Interested in the Sonic tunnel suit (http://www.sonicflywear.com/en/products/details/2-wind%20tunnel/8-tunnel%20suit). Its essentially all cordura. What are the pros and cons of a mostly cordura suit? How does such a suit compare to a mostly Poly cotton suit? I imagine its slower and more powerful, albeit a little more difficult to fly?

I got the bowling speech for asking how to deal with line overs on reserves from one instructor (too scared to jump). Now I rig for the guy on occasion.

ur like those firemen setting fires

you'll be fine...just be ready to tip the shit out you instructor if you throw up on him.

not downsizing (1 to1) and learning everything about my first canopy (landing: all wind directions, one toggle, no toggles, two toggles one hand, breaked approaches to landing surges, double fronts, 45 degree front, sinking it in at 3/4 brakes etc. (helped with landing out and recovering from a collapsed wing from a dustdevil) rigging (helped with my gear fear) researching: reading a lot and talking to many different jumpers (understanding how accidents happen, different strategies to resolve problems or keep em from hapenning...etc) -> most importantly, listen to your elders (notice the plural...find consensus...no good statistician is going to draw conclusions from just one data point)...time in the sport and or jump numbers mean a lot, but stupidity/ignorance comes in all shapes and sizes

why do these goddamn threads always degenerate into the 'experts' scolding the 'noobs' for asking the question. Answer the question or shut the fuck up (no directed at NZflyer btw...this is a general insult)! Lodi and Hollister are fairly cheap. Hit up Hollister for AFF...they at least offered AFF packages plus some 5 odd jumps for 1000 bucks. As with everything...caveat emptor and you tend to get what you pay for. p.s. I encountered this same ludicrous nonsense when i tried asking on how to screw an opteka lens onto a CX....Rather then having my question answered I was scolded and put on trial for my perceived lack of skydiving knowledge. The thread degenerated into a back and forth about the dangers of camera flying.

anybody know much about AAD's and strong magnets? Is it a concern? Otherwise I'll just give airtec a call

Witnessed an AAD save and it got me thinking...

i recently got scolded by a very experienced doucher about breaking free of the conventional one hand per handle or the look red grab red look silver punch red grab silver punch method....after all who needs to ever learn to find his handle by touch alone or be able to alternate between different methods? -

its surprising that base jumpers survive at all considering the lack of FAA regulation and boy scout badge hierarchy @remster: I believe to remember that anyone can perform any job of any rigger under the supervision of said rigger (of course only for jobs for which said rigger is rated and as far as i remember supervision is not really defined)..i really don't fucking care to dig into the legalese though....man made trifle

If you get a mirage be careful about getting a Cypres. I have already pulled 5 broken cutters out of mirages. By broken I mean the breaking of the plastic sheath that is supposed to protect the cable cutter connection point...the cutter seems to remain functional (i don't test them). I send them back to Airtec and they replace/or repair them for free. The cutters that come back have a different, a more malleable, sheath.

isn't that the point of crossbracing?
-
wasn't directed at you... hadn't even read your post. Just an illustration of what can go wrong combining small canopies and wing suits. This is the second video I have seen where this happens... then again ...do whatever you want as long as you don't physicaly hurt or kill anyone else

happened to one of the red bull guys in Perris too..he was flying a venom...except, his main totaled as the bridle had wrapped the pc...big suits and big burbles...we'll see more of this I bet Is there a problem? Is it too insignificant to worry about since its very rare? If this is a problem, do we need technological solutions? Or, is proper training enough (remember the video is of frode johansen a jumper with 20 years of experience) to the original posters knot: assuming the bag was out of the container, the pc must have already generated pull force and thus the pc must have been out of the burble. Am I off or am I being captain obvious? I have had similar knots in my bridle. During main opening the pc dances violently.

the size of your parachute is not inversely proportional to your cool factor
-
you are aware im trolling, ya?
-
of course I didn't, but Id rather kill you skydiving then myself basejumping.
-
the logic being what? Too small a pc (skydive pc) sits in loose? If the pouch was in fact more likely to yield a premmi then no basejumper would ever opt to fly that shit next to a wall. I think its a really bad idea for someone that base jumps to go back and forth between pc locations...look at bfl #156. Automatic behaviours need to be just that, automatic - without thought!

Parachute Rigger's Reference Library to sell or loan?
Freeflaw replied to dantana's topic in Gear and Rigging
get a copy of groundschool... http://www.dauntless-soft.com/products/groundschool/rigger.asp do the complete test bank of questions (~300) twice over and your golden...most stuff on the test is outdated and irrelevant -
similar to incident in lodi (wans't it?) with Belgian girl.
