  1. Is the Uspa/dropzone at any more or less risk when a under age person does any of the above. if not who do you think they are trying to protect when they raised the tandem age to 18.

    Pie Pix

you sure do look nice jack, lynn too :)
  3. let's just take it back............all it takes is 40 skydivers from each state to vote for candidates that have no hidden agenda. Who looks first after the skydiver. It's not hard, all it costs is a stamp. I hear you say you want extended repacks. I hear you say you don't want aads reqired. I hear you say you don't like the way things are. do something about it. Find out who supports YOU and what YOU want. Find out who will hear what's important to you and skydiving. VOTE and let the BOD know how you feel about the job they are doing. I sent a email to each board member about reserve repacks. Would you care to guess how many replies I got. 3, I think that is pretty sorry. sorry rant mode off
  4. so true wildblue. Try this find the oldest cranky fart on the dz. Sit down and talk to him. He prolly won't tell ya how to do a nice hook at 50 jumps but he will prolly help keep you butt out of trouble. rec.dot has value as dz.com does. Just like at the dz you have to put on the bull chit filter and see who to listen to and who to avoid.
  5. what are you doing with the nose of the canopy when you Pro pack? don't suff it into your pack job. ask someone at the dz that jumps one. I love mine for all the above listed reasons
  6. who was ur course director? and what was his reason for no photo copies?
  7. weather isn't always like that in florida. I'm sure you'll find lake wales a nice dz. It's nice open place to jump and normally has less wind than we do here in Sebastian. Very nice packing hanger and gear store.
  8. ok gang here's what the uspa did for you (or to you) right from the uspa's web site +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The summer meeting of the USPA Board of Directors adjourned Sunday, July 14 at around 3:00 p.m. A full report will appear in the September issue of Parachutist. Some highlights: The 2003 USPA National Skydiving Championships will take place at Florida Skydiving Center in Lake Wales. The 2003 Collegiate Nationals will also be held in Lake Wales. The USPA Board approved the purchase of property for a new USPA Headquarters near Fredericksburg, Virginia, pending legal review of favorable terms and conditions. USPA now requires anyone making tandem jumps to be at least the age of legal majority, which is 18 in most states. A last-minute waiver was issued for 18-year-olds and up in Alabama and Mississippi, where it is believed the age of legal majority is higher. Following a comment period lasting several months, the USPA Instructional Rating Manual was approved pending Safety & Training Committee review of a final draft. Distribution is scheduled for September. Proposed updates to the 2003 Skydiver's Information Manual were also approved. Distribution is also scheduled for September. In the USPA Basic Safety Requirements, the minimum tandem jump opening altitude was raised from 4,000 to 4,500 feet. The privileges of the USPA Coach were extended to include training freefall skills and conducting jumps for students cleared to freefall self-supervision. USPA dues will increase $5 in January, due to soaring insurance costs, postage increases and other rising expenses. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ What do you think? Do you care? Bill
  9. I would demo a spectre, but I would get someone to video my landings and get some coaching b4 I dumped the canopy enless you were in danger of bring injured. I have 20 or so tri jumps always seem to be a good canopy just think the spectre is a bit better. However the tri can be ez to pack
  10. well at our dz, my group tries to include everyone. we'll put ya in the base and work around you, if you need some one on one, I normally ask him or her to come sunday morning and play chase the newbie. I guess I do it because I did feel a bit left out for 50 jumps. I found a old guy who couldn't pack fast and didn't like do a lot in freefall, I provided him with entertainment, he showed me how to skydive :) Word to the wise to newbies, be 1st to the dz. Talk with everyone. Offer to manifest the group. Be teachable, learn to laugh at yourself. Ask how you could do better. Offer to pay for a pack job, while you receive one on one debrief and coaching (Lot cheaper than skydive U) Buy your beer, bring a cooler of sodas. This stuff is way fun. If we are not having fun we are paying way to much to be unhappy. Muff brothers rule!

funny jimbo, it's normally people that have no idea how to use a gun, and think the world should be fair. You and I know fair most times has very little to do with life. Life is what you make out of it regardless of how fair it is. Don't let things happen, make things happen.
  12. I'll see who'd there now just did a beach jump yahooooo
  13. a small fish in a big pond. Reason more people to learn from. New ideas come to the big pond and walking catfish bring news of what's going on in other ponds. Also meet lots of new fish along with the normal ( in skydiving lol) school of fish . I think Crw fish are the real dark side

It's like this, if it wasn't a gun, it would be a car bomb or a knife. They are brain washed guttless people. Guns don't kill people, people do.

  22. How would you like the uspa to support base jumping?
  23. 1) Do you think the uspa is doing a good job? 2) Do you feel membership dues are a good value for the money? 3) Do you feel they are looking out after "joe upjumper"? 4) what would you like to see them do that they are not doing now? 5) How do you feel about the group member program? 6) what do you feel they doing that they should not be doing now? 7) Do you really care what the uspa does? 8) Do you feel that swooping should be added to the nationals? ******added********* 9) Do you feel membership to the uspa should be manditory? 10) If you feel the uspa is broke. How would you fix it? 11) Would you like to have a real time, town hall type chat with the national directors (internet relay chat)? 12)What single thing should be on the uspa's top priority list? Bill Flynn candidate for the fun jumper D24249
  24. Never trust that green light thingy :) I was on a 8 way one of the rear divers, green light came on, ppl climbed out, ready, set, go....... as we left the otter I saw the dz way off the distance. The pilot had turn the green light on by mistake, 3 retired aff guys outside never looked down, lol we all pulled high and landed on the dz. NOTE to fellow skydivers, please us abort abort, not NO NO NO. Sounds to much like go go go lol. we've all be there, all done it....
