  1. ***I want the USPA to represent the skydivers first...and the Dropzones to have there own orginization to represent them.... vote for people that support the fun jumpers, get the good old boys out of there. Bill for the fun jumper
  2. let's do away with the group member program all together. The uspa is a club, The dz's can join the pia if they want to. The will lessen the liability to the uspa as they have not "approved" the DZ. We would no longer be putting money into the group member program from the fun jumpers dues. If we do keep the group member program then they should not be able to turn a fun jumper away and still be a member. Also no group member should require a aad for a non student. The uspa is suppose to help keep jumpers in the air, it's time they start doing it
  3. My condolences to all of their family and friends let's watch out for each other out there Bill
  4. what about hearing someone yelling to you under canopy, but getting out last and pulling high wouldn't be bad.

  10. I know i thought i was having a hard time reading the alti.I did the next 100 jumps with a wrist mounted alti 2. I forgot mine and had to use a ft50, even thought a lot smaller never had any trouble. Must have been nerves :) never did go back to the alti 2 Have faith in ur jump master and yourself Bill
  11. funny and all this time I thought it was a Male skydiver from the UK Bill
  12. However, since this rule really doesn't take effect for another 14 months . . . it's not really going to be of any great surprise to or really affect the way anyone currently in the sport does things anyway. 14 months does seem like a pretty reasonable amount of time to get used to this idea, to me at least. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I'm sorry but this is a big change, I don't care if it wasn't coming for 3 years the rank and file was not informed. And that means that we were not able to comment. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ BTW, people have been talking about this for years, so all anyone really had to do was look at what the IPC was doing and it shouldn't have been a very big surprise anyway. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ talking and voting on it is a lot different. They did us a disservice by not allowing our input.
  13. my problem is not letting anyone know ahead of time. We are the USPA right, why didn't anyone say anything. I had chated about it and posted it here before. This is one reason we need a monthly or bi monthly on line chat with BOD and others. This affects everyone, why were we not better informed? I'm not saying it was a bad move. I feel a better move would have been a E licence.
  14. sorry this is late but been having isp trouble. JIMBO happy b day
  15. wow nice article, thanks Jimbo
  16. ok off topic slightly. If the USPA came up with a requirement for swoopers, hookers ect, what should it be? What should a mandated requirement be for the "new E" I'm not a FAN OF RULES FOR THE SAKE OF RULES" but i do get mad, upset over seeing friends and fellow skydivers killing themselves, getting busted up and hurting others under canopy let me say this as well, I know you can't make rules against stupidity. And common sense isn't all that common. Some of what I post are things others have talked with me about.
  17. Hang tough, I went through the same thing. My youngest will be 18 in nov and can't wait to do a tandem. he wants to do aff but knows he can't support jumping right now. My oldest she hated skydiving and me but just e mailed me and wants to do a tandem when she comes down for christmas. My son lives with me and my daughter moved away with the evil ex. Life is what you make of it, enjoy what you get and be happy
  18. how long has Canada been 6 months, and others if you can post reserve repack cycles and how long they have been that way out side of the usa? Hard data, anything you can do to help out. also for the stateside jumpers, you might e mail Mike Perry: mprigging@aol.com thanking him for being the focal point to collect whatever data is out there, whether from PIA or any other source. Maybe even asking what we can do to help. It has been suggested that out of date reserves could be used in the study. I am sure some of you have a air worthy rig that the reserve needs aired out. If you all want to come up to speed with the rest of the world let's do something about it and help.
  19. I love night jumps, I have 8. However they can be a pain to get a load going at some places. I waited almost 2 years for my night jumps so I could get my d. The issue at our dz is you need a d to land at the beach. i fail to see what night jumps have to do with landing on the beach. Perhaps we need a E like you where saying. I think we do almost, how many jumps do u need for a pro rating, min for aff, tandem ratings. To jump a birdman suit, some HP canopies I don't think raising the D licence but adding a E licence. What you think of adding one more licence? :)
  20. I was asked by a dzo this weekend to see how everyone felt about night jumps for D. Seems like other stuff is a lot more urgent. In the past wasn't a real water jump required?
  21. The BOD apparently has directed HQ to pursue the extension of the reserve repack cycle from 120 days to 180 days. The BOD suggested that you should work with PIA on this matter. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ posted by treetop aka Don +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ There was discussion of this issue in a committee meeting where you were not present. Mike Perry, Eastern Regional Director, volunteered to be the focal point to collect whatever data is out there, whether from PIA or any other source, to present a USPA proposal to the FAA for the repack extension. It was thought that we would need to present some drop test data to substantiate any claims that we make that the reserve would function normally and within the TSO limitations after being packed for 6 months. I did volunteer, at no charge, my aircraft and DZ for any necessary drop tests to collect the necessary data. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ posted by Mike Mullins National Director +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I have heard that $40,000 was set aside for the study. Bill Flynn
  22. the reason is the tandem rig makers raised so much of a stink. plain and simple, the uspa was not at any more of a risk, the rig makers are. And here is my main beef with it all. You have a rig maker demanding something from the uspa. Should they have any more voice that you or I. Can you or I make a wood deck for a house and say only people over the age of 18 can stand on it? The Uspa and the dz is not any more or less at risk period.
  23. why go to a rigger to assemble your rig, learn how and do it yourself. Learn your gear. KNow what's good and not good. The life you save may be your own. Pay a rigger to check it but know how to do it yourself
  24. I have read all that but the basic question still is........... is the uspa at anymore or less risk on a tandem jump vs aff/static line jump. I have e mailed all the current candidates as well as the full board. For those who will let me, I will post there replies here. Some are very interesting, I still wonder if they are working for us, the fun jumper have fun and play safe Bill
