-Boobies received their name by allowing them to be captured while asleep. -Boobies are a part of the Sulidae family made up of ten species of long-winged sea birds the size of geese. Their feet are completely webbed including hind toes, not free as in a duck. -Boobies live near tropical and subtropical islands around the world, coming ashore only to breed. At sea they can be seen diving from the sky to catch fish. I have posted a blue footed boobie from the Galapagos.. re: do you know your boobies and butts?? http://www.curlydavid.com/quiz1.html# SMiles

What do you do with your gear while travelling on your skydiving holidaze? A couple of skydivers from my d.z. were in Hawaii less than 24 hrs. (just leaving d.z.) and stopped at the beach by polo field on Farrington Hwy. Huleiwa -with all their gear locked in trunk- when they returned to car it had all been stolen. Any suggestions on what you would do? Sure sucks major- cannot figure what could be done with it besides sold hot to skydiver or attempt to sell at a d.z. One set of gear is posted here in Stolen gear database under containers: Mirage G3 black with green tye dye, silver trim/like new/ tempo 120 reserve and heatwave 120 main/ cypres/ bonehead/ freefly suit. The other set of gear was just purchased completely before leaving- brand spanking new (Mirage) SMiles

I live with the seasons here- this time of year skydiving comes to a halt and time for socializing more has come. (Everyone I know has become aware and accepted the way I live.) I have time in the winter now for projects I neglect in the summer....and for family, friends...(that I only see on occasion throughout the summer months) On the creative side to keep me satisfied this time of year...(sewing new tab drapes to cover my windows/ ripping up carpet and laying wood floors/sewing my own new jumpsuit/ re- building my skydiving webpages- designing new skydive graphics and animations/ planning Xmas party and shopping for gifts/decorating my place/ cooking & baking) Also looking forward to skiing, snowboarding and relaxing infront of my fireplace reading a good book, along with my favorite blueberry teas.... Somehow the year balances out with the seasons. Honestly ---think I keep so busy that "lonely" has no room SMiles

you wanna do some extreme ironing on your next extreme BASE or Skydive?? Who does it? "the fearless" What is extreme ironing? The sport that is 'extreme ironing' is an outdoor activity that combines the danger and excitement of an 'extreme' sport with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt. It involves taking an iron and board (if possible) to remote locations and ironing a few items of laundry. This can involve ironing on a mountainside, preferably on a difficult climb, or taking an iron skiing, snowboarding or canoeing. I cannot believe this website: check out the photo gallery!! http://www.extremeironing.com zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz SMiles

Next project for me is a dream that will most likely never happen I luv my fireplace- it is the focal point of our rec room. Damn difficult to plunk a tv down in one of the corners as the room would then have two competing focal points, something a furniture layout could never solve. My only option is to hang a flat panel TV like a painting above the fireplace—right smack in the middle of the room's focal point. The result? A cool application of technology that is well-integrated into the room design. Then comes the problem of sound system so I want to mount the front three speakers flush around the TV, one each on the left and right and one directly above. Then place surround sound speakers in the ceiling at the back of the room. Then install two subwoofers—in the walls flanking the doors. To house the eight components that produce sound for the theater and music throughout the house, I need a designed custom cabinet that is placed just outside the room, that keeps the equipment out of sight while it still allows the whole system to be operated from my favorite chair. Of course the wall above the fireplace gets hot when fire is burning- so - is it smart to hang a tv there?? Dream on To also have the tv hidden by a picture is perfect. SMiles

crosspost from chat@cspa "auto deploying, GPS guided, square parachute that always flares fully while always landing into the wind" http://www.mmist.ca/ the new Sherpa ManPack has all the features, accuracy and reliability built into a new compact system to autonomously navigate and steer a parachutist to his target. With its built in servo motors this unit completely manages the flight profile, freeing the jumper up for mission management. After exiting the aircraft and normal parachute deployment the jumper connects the control lines to the steering toggles. The Sherpa ManPack initiates navigation after the activation pin is removed. Based on waypoint and wind information the Sherpa then calculates the optimal flight path for mission success. During flight Sherpa ManPack continuously re-calculates the flight path based on updated winds speeds calculated from its GPS track over the ground. The hands free operation has the added benefit of minimizing the thermal exposure of the operators hands. The control line coupling to the steering lines allow the jumper to take over at any time. The ability to navigate in any weather conditions and at night and place the jumper within 100m of this mission target ensures mission success. Canadian MMIST company (Ottawa) placed ad in local paper: "MMIST REQUIRES A Licensed B Parachute Rigger Candidate must have at least 5 yrs. of related exp., with packing & repairing ram-air & round canopies & their associated components. Canopies will range in size from 100-1200 sq. ft. Previous training exp erience is required. Ability to travel internationally is mandatory. Experience with international military organizations would be an asset. MMIST is an Ottawa-based company specializing in guided parachute delivery systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles. MMIST has recently doubled in size & expects this growth to continue. Please send resumes to: patricia@mmist.ca or fax 613-723-8925. " SMiles

I would recommend that you go for 3 yr warranty for parts as most hard drive/motherboard tits in that time period. Also go for large hard drive and memory along with WinXP for OS. I purchased from Gateway 3 yrs. ago. $2,200. cnd. Gateway Select 1000 Digital Music PC mid tower case (room to upgrade) 250 watt power supply -- 128mb memory module with 3 slots to upgrade -- AMD Athlon 1000MHz with performance enhancing cache memory -- 32MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX Graphics Accelerator -- 45 GB Hard Drive -- CDRW Soundblaster Live with digital output -- WinMe -- 17" Gateway monitor EVF720 (excellent quality (very close to flat screen)-- Boston Acoustics digital speakers with subwoofer --Epson Stylus printer 880 -- deluxe MS office 2000 and lots of extra software included. The best of this deal was: -3rd party 1yr. onsite 3 yr labor/GW 3 yr part With excellent technicians 24 hr. service and delivered to my door for replacement in the last 6 months (within 3-4 days). Yes- I've installed myself without a problem: -upgrade from WinMe to XP- -new 80GB Hard drive- -new 1000 MHz Athlon processor and motherboard kit including 768mb memory- -new power supply & fans- -new 48x CDRW drive- Basically 3 yrs. later I have a new PC- and above replacement parts have another 3 yrs. on them...................... so I do not mind Gateway...they have done me well and customer service is awesome. ....pulled into parking lot 730 a.m. this morn, got up to 5th level and found tons of empty spaces- was going around 10-20 mph when turning into 4th space on my right and KABAMMMM- the car accelerated at enormous speed smuck into cement wall of my stall - the air bag in my face, car filled with horrible putrid smell smoke/powder or whatever- my chest hurts still/ inner arm skin burnt off by bag. WTF happened? ..so little time to react- Smucked the front end up so bad it bounced back 2ft. from the wall plastered with pieces of bumper My precious baby 2002 Honda Accord SE- never had a problem with it. Was hard to ask anyone today what could have happened as those I did said "you must of slammed on your gas instead of your brake"...ddddduuuuuuhhhhh I could scream. So freaky how you can recall every second with skydiving- I know for sure with the split second- my foot was plastered to the brake when the car bounced from the wall. My mind is spinning as I do not know until it is totally inspected by insurance company- anyone know WTF the problem could be???????? gas petal stuck/throttle cable/butterfly on throttle body sticking/cruise control malfuck- ya, its just a car (the sweetest I've ever had the pleasure of owning) thanx SMiles

My hometown is Vancouver, B.C. Canada Stanley Park, Vancouver's first, is an evergreen oasis of 1,000 acres close to the heart of Vancouver's downtown core. Its natural west coast atmosphere offering a back drop of majestic cedar, hemlock and fir trees embraces visitors and transports them to an environment rich in tranquility. The World Famous Capilano Suspension Bridge is 450 feet (140 meters) across and 230 feet (70meters) above Vancouver’s spectacular Capilano River. Whistler/Backcomb for skiing/boarding is famous world wide: http://www.whistler-blackcomb.com/ (picture attached) SMiles
