  1. Bigger suit, if they can find one (like I said I'm already in a big cotton one) and try to flatten me out. I'm just not sure how to do this exaclty. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  2. HA! I'm laughing my ass off. Thanks! (Of course, that's just because I'm a big geek!) Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  3. Oh, we've sort of tried that. Big cotton suit on me! I know experience is the ticket, I'm just looking for any additional training tips. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  4. I haven't bought yet but I'll tell you what I think anyway. 1. I really want to feel comfortable with downsizing before I do it. Check out "Don't Downsize Too Quickly" in the Safety and Training forum for a really good reason why. 2. I'm lucky enough to not have to pay a lot for rentals (only $10 cdn!) 3. I really want to know what kind of rig I want before I buy it and test out a bunch before I do. Seeing as I'm going to be spending an arm and a leg on it (a little pun there, buy the wrong one and you loose an arm and a leg ) I want to be really sure I get what I want and will want to keep it around a while. 4. And finally, I figure by waiting I can save up and truly get what I want and not cut corners. I expect it to save my life after falling a few thousand feet, acme's bargin basement isn't where I want to buy it from. That's it. Money and safety considerations. But that's just me. 5. So here's the situation: I'm doing PFF, and I'm doing OK, but on my last dive neither of my instructors could keep up with me because I fall so fast (150mph belly to earth). I'm bigger then most girls (although, lots of guys are my weight) and to add to it I'm very flexible, so my arch is very "archy". I responded to body correcting hand signals in my last dive but that didn't really help. So obviously I need to flatten out. So the question is, does anyone have any good tips on learning how to do that without going unstable? While I did respond to the cue from my instructor to straighten my legs last time, I really don't have very much feeling in my body during freefall. Any suggestions? 6. Go read "don't downsize too quickly" in the Safety and Training forum and then decide. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  7. Thanks for the story. Sounds like you didn't get the best advice on downsizing. You've made it crystal clear to me to stay with student gear until I am DAMN COMFORTABLE! In many things in life people consider conservativism a negative quality but in skydiving it seems that it just might be the trait that keeps you safe. Thanks for making this clear. I hope you heal well and get back to the sport. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  8. Now I suppose this means there's going to be even more "boobie" talk/pictures around here. Maybe I should do a study on the health effects of staring at mens various body parts. No, wait, I have a life. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  9. Well, I'm thinking Canadina stories are just like American ones! Oh, and a BASE jumper once told me that he could jump off of 11 stories. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive

    Canadians Killed

I just heard on the news that an errant US bomb hit a group of Canadian soldiers. Four were killed and eight were wounded. (So far, maybe information will change into the night) I just wanted to say that it's ironic that after all the speeches about rooting out "evil" and terrorists wherever they live ends up killing fellow soldiers. (I don't agree with the word evil, it's too black and white, and every country is full of individuals, just like you and me, I can't see characterizing a whole country or area as evil) This sort of thing is bound to happen. It shows me the futility of all this violence. I feel very sad for everyone hurt in this madness, on this side of the world and the other side too. 11. Well, I thought it was the code for drug posession in the 60's which is when the term origionated. It then became slang for smoking a joint by the hippie rebelious folks. Like, an ex of mine is a big deadhead and he was big on taking a 4:20. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  12. That sounds very nice! Exotic! You really should really post that when it's done. You would be the first one I've ever seen. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  13. You don't know what you're missing! Actually, the reason why I used to keep my hair so short is because I used to just shave it off to get rid of the colour. Makes it easy. Always wanted to do a rainbow, but that's pretty pricey. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  14. For those who may be interested, here is a shot of one of my hair cuts from about a year and a half ago. And if you're wondering, I'm standing in a lingerie store. Now my hair is much longer and I look even happier because now I'm a skydiver.
  15. Here's the obligatory stupid student questioin: How exactly does a night jump work? How do people judge the landing? Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  16. The dark side huh. Yeah, that's what we call you up here too! (Just kidding) Yes, I'm considering it, you actually know how to pay your professionals there, plus, as you all know, one American dollar is worth like, a boatload Canadian. But I love the island, and don't know if I really want to leave. It's the most beautiful place in the world, in my opinion. And I've been all over Europe and in some of the states. We'll see. Oregon is pretty nice (and yes I'm sure other parts of the country are wonderful too, but I'm a west coast girl) Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  17. Oh, seeing as I have a lot of experience in this area, if anyone wants to know, I do this: You have to bleach your hair unless it is already blond. And then the coloured dye I use is called Jeans Haircolouring. It's only available in salons but it's well worth the money because of the trueness of colour and its lasting power. Also, you can mix colours to get the shade you want. I've used Fudge, which is really popular but after trying Jeans I'm totally converted. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  18. That explains a lot. Your posts are usually so technical and thought out. Your job seems to fit with that. By the way, that sounds really fun. Maybe I'll get to do something similar with my comp. sci. degree someday. Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  19. Now, last time I posted "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you" someone told me to be happy, and not nasty. I haven't grown since then, and I'm supposed to do a PFF today and THE CLOUDS ARE CONSPIRING AGAINST ME. So, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you... Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  20. No problem. I love fello newbies! oooo, plus I have more jumps then your and there's not many people I can say that about!!!! Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
  21. Will you get nervous? Well I don't know but I have talked to many people who get nervous only once they enter the plane. If that happens to you though, there are relaxation techniques you can use on the way up to altitude. (That's assuming you have a while on the climb, I'm in a Cessna so it takes 25 minutes and that's quite a while to contimplate what you're about to do) As for me personally, I do get really nervous when I have to wait around the dz, which I sometime have to do for hours before I get up. The training is calming though. Feeling prepared is once of the most calming things I think. Either way, nervous or not, it will kick ass when you're done. I find you just have to get your ass out the door, once you're in the air, the training kicks in. Even when I was the most nervous BEFORE a dive, after sill was great. Good Luck! 22. How about half blue half red and then wear a white shirt and call it patriotic! (I'm Canadian, but here those south of us really like to show their pride) Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive

  25. Blond! Huh. That's for normal people. That's what colour I am while I'm decided what colour I really want to be! Oh, and on a slightly more serious note. I have met with clients (I'm a project manager for a small Internet company) with purple hair and I don't seem to have any problems. It seems that a professional attitude overcomes the superficial. I'm part-time and I need a full time job soon and that's what I don't think will let me keep me hair. Gale Life's not worth living if you can't feel alive
