  1. I have gone to some dz's just cause I got a wild hair, no boogie, no real reason to pick them, some had turbines, some only a cessna....most were uspa, some were not, some were kicking loads out at a frantic pace, some were more laid back... and have had a damn fine time most of these trips even though they were not the happening place.... The people make the experience in my opinion. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  2. Krisanne....can I finish my student training at your new DZ ????????? *** I heard her student jumpsuits makes ya look alot like elvis.... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  3. My dog's ass stinks *** hmmm, from another thread in dz.com... you could bleach yer dogs assholio *(wont help with the smell) Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  4. Is that to say they are of equal use in a given situation? *** My whole point was to merely to point out that a traditional large canopy wasnt always the correct tool for the job. they carry thier own risks to use *(lack of drive for the most part) I know of a whole group from the same dz qualified on accuracy canopies then did thier 3 (as I see it)* BULLSHIT * qual jumps on smaller canopies. I have gotten to 8 pro jumps on my old 120 stiletto before missing a jump and starting over twice... I have no interest in gaining my pro rating with my FX, it woudnt be the appropriate tool for the job. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  5. it seems every generation says the same thing....death-destruction-end of the world stuff... someday they might even be right Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  6. man... you Cali types get all the fun Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  7. common sense is probably the deciding factor. demo's seem to bring out the "must land there-itis" and the tendency to push a bad situation. I will grant the more room to stop. but more room to turn? I disagree with this, I found my stilletto to brake turn quickly but with much less altitude loss. the more runway to stop had better be calculated in by the pilot before hand. Plus..... ya gotta know when to say fuck no... this is the wrong tool for the job... 15mph winds.... I want a smaller canopy if we are going ahead with the demo. the tighter the landing area, the larger I want on a calm day. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  8. Or "sorry about that collision, I was barrel rolling and didn't see you below me." *** so.... as your clearing your airspace over your shoulders by looking left and right, what would you say to the person you didnt see and just slammed into?..... same thing... you took your eyes off the direction your going...... your comparing apples and oranges when both are apples.... if a person can successfully do *at the end of thier track* a barrel roll prior to the wave off and not lose stability... whats the problem? it takes me the same- if not less time than looking over both shoulders with a larger field of view. EDIT to add: I have left a large way with a staggered altitude break off, and during my track realize I had caught a jumper from the outside whacker and he was much lower than I, I moved slightly over and as I passed him, watch him toss..... he never saw me even though i watched him look left and right. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  9. the last safety day I attended at my home dz was a terrible day.... (many years ago) two plane loads landed in town... one jumper hit power lines, fried his canopy... one hit a dog kennel and slashed his throat - everyone lived though......... safety days are dangerous... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  10. never bothered to qualify for a PRO ticket under a proper demo main.*** If the guy gained his pro rating with his stilletto - 10 predeclared jumps, not the bullshit 10 with a huge canopy - then 3 with the smaller to gain the pro rating, would you still consider the stilletto a not so proper demo canopy? to me, smaller/eliptical doesnt always mean less safe.... *shrug* - donning nomex suit at this time.... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  11. Butler said Tomeny came toward him, forcing him to push the soldier with one hand and draw his gun with the other. Butler said he holstered his gun, removed his chemical spray and began to spray Tomeny. *** dude this doesnt sound too likely at all..... backing up with weapon in hand... then change his mind and holster it...then grab non lethal spray....use it....then redraw the wep...... I call bullshit on this one Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  12. WOMAN'S POEM Before I lay me down to sleep, I pray for a man, who's not a creep, One who's handsome, smart and strong. One who loves to listen long, One who thinks before he speaks, One who'll call, not wait for weeks. I pray he's gainfully employed, When I spend his cash, won't be annoyed. Pulls out my chair and opens my door, Massages my back and begs to do more. Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind, Knows what to answer to "how big is my behind?" I pray that this man will love me to the end, And always be my very best friend. MAN'S POEM I pray for a deaf-mute nymphomaniac with huge boobs who owns a liquor store and a drop zone. This doesn't rhyme and I don't give a shit. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  13. I have had one cutaway on a stiletto and had no time to delay after the chop (got out at 1800' and took a 5 sec delay) had no line twists on the reserve. it felt like it tossed me straight out from the center of the spin. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  14. Ok, now I understand! Because I only have 80 jumps, 1 year of experience, and I'm just 19 years old, I know nothing and my opinion doesn't matter. maybe you could point out the bad attitude I am displaying? I went back and read my post again to try to understand what has set you off, I cannot quite fathom it. Was it the part where my dz decided that one jumper who would NOT listen to anyone was not welcome there anymore? Was it where I pointed out the 100 jump wonder attitude being displayed? both observations are accurate. the rules and regulations you find in this sport are their because people died to prove they were needed. Maybe I should just stop skydiving... *** I hope you dont, I hope you stay to become a very competent skydiver, but to do that, your going to have to learn, and when learning, why do it the hard way? use others mistakes instead of making an identical mistake yourself (less painfull) Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  15. Pussy. *** well..... i aint as brave as I used to be, and besides.... ya are what ya eat
  16. A low pull contest..... *** heeee, most of the peeps in this thread are against doing a 'dangerous' barrel roll during a track some might lose bladder function if we start on the low pull contests... note*.... I get scared around 1500'...... i wouldnt ever "win"...... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  17. Say you track to 2,500 feet, do a quick barrel-roll to check your air above you. Then see someone is actually there? What do you do then? *** Personally I would try to slide out from under or hum it lower, all the while kicking my own ass for tracking like a wuss... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  18. I'm allergic to people who come here to tell "these are the rules". What happend to people thinking? WHOAAA..... you couldnt scream out 100 jump wonder attitude any louder here pal. If you fail to follow the regulations more than a few times- the dz may just ask you to move on down the road to die at another place. My home dropzone did just that once - the jumper had your attitude exactly... he cratered himself at the other dz in the area 6 months later... There are lots of people who got killed or injured following "the rules" *** ok, which rule got someone killed or injured in skydiving? Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  19. If you have others to your "front" and you loose sight of them during the barrel roll, now your the hazard*** when you look over your shoulder to clear your air, you lose sight of them also. it takes me no more time to barrel roll than it does you to look left and right over your shoulders. a barrel roll done well at the end of a track is IMO more likely to catch that jumper in your blind spot, above and slightly behind you but still very much a threat Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  20. unless I missed the point of the post, we are not talking about back tracking, we are talking about tracking away from a formation and instead of sitting up and glancing over each shoulder as we wave, we instead perform a quick barrel roll to see above us.... i can perform that in less than a second and stay on heading, as I come out of the barrel roll, I am cupping air and waving off. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  21. I have used the barrel roll on large formation skydives and I find it to work quite well. I would track to 2.5k, barrel roll- wave-toss. I rarely do any jumps that scare me enough to feel the need to use it anymore though. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  22. Sure I would take it! ... What about the spotting ...? *** it would sure suck to land in an ocean - bobbing around like a -- well-- bobber, waiting to be rescued wouldnt it.... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  23. So I have no insurance as a just a USPA member? *** hmmm, I just read my license, it appears i was wrong and the insurance comes with the membership itself.... sorry bout that Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  24. 1)you get second party liability insurance, that will help if you land between cars off the landing area and tear off a mirror. 2)you can hold a uspa instructor rating - not that you are legally required to hold one, but I am pretty sure that in the event of a lawsuit, it would provide a bit more protection to you. 3)you get the parachutist magazine Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  25. Awww, I'm not laughing AT you Roy, I'm laughing WITH you!! *** oh yeah... I totally believe THAT!! Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
