  1. please dont correct me andy, it sickens me give us a call, im off to the obvious on sunday, get your feet together YOU!!!!
  2. again, ill take it point by point 1. no, i dont expect a CCI to be an expert in every discipline, the only person in the UK who i know qualifies in this regard is andy ford(good flyer, arrogand bastard!). but an understanding of things you are expected to govern isnt a great deal to ask for, which i havent yet seen in the UK 2. no i wasnt at the sweedish festival, and i dont know what your getting at 3. The Uk has to lowest standard of flying ive seen anywhere in the world. the Uk has a part time FF coach pool, taking Chris Lynch and Rob Silver out of this statement. The rest are fairly low ability, including the MeCocks. 4. yes, it is constructive to compare coach fees and relate them to whom is charging what, and what ultimately you gain from the experience. Tim overcharges, no matter where he coaches, and has given some pretty lackluster results from people he has coached. I loved his statment(being 100% serious) to a friend, ' Dont go to the fly boyz, i am a far better coach and flyer then any of them, go with me'. Interesting. And i also love him offering to do a tube jump with people and only when in the plane telling everyone its 5 pounds a person for 'wear and tear' on his tube. Nice. My constructive statement is this. Given the exchange rate, and the desparity in coaching ability, save your money, go to the US, they own the sport, you'll get much better results for much less cash.
  3. that is just so diplomatic you should put that on the back of a comercial for your guys tow the line
  4. well in honesty the current system works fairly well lets go through the criteria 1. be approved by a british CCI(100%likelyhood of being a flatflyer-who doesnt understand the discipline) 2. have a generally bad attitude towards students 3. have fairly low flying skills yourself 4. charge extortionate amounts of money(aka tim porter) for minimal instruction which is of a low standard

    freefly plan

arent you organising an event this year called 'OPERATION MAXIMUM PROXIMITY'?
  6. who are you by the way? im bad with names, even more so when im in empuria as im drunk most of the time
  7. as andy said, an AD licence involves a much greater level of ability than an FF whatever, it isnt an olav money making scheme, as he really doesnt have a great deal to do with it anymore(its stefania more or less running things by my understanding). Flying qualifications like educational qualifications tend to be signals of ability. If you go to a new dz anywhere in the world and flash a FF sticker you'll probably be laughed at, while an AD licence is a highly respected standard(noting that A is just the beginning). To be rather blunt about it, there arent any world class freeflyers in the UK(chris lynch bases himself in the US mainly). The rest are more or less amateur operations of enthusiasts. Euphoria, andy newell! I taught him everything he knows. People are not interesting in learning how to freefly in the UK, they are interested in doing it. There is a very serious distinction there. How many zoo chaos dives with no clear objectives have i seen organised in the UK, most of them. Ive not seen once 2 freeflyers doing a drill dive( example..360 dock, cartwheel dock repeat). Its just go out, silly exit, act crazy, pull, gob off.
  8. i got on my head in under 2 hours, but spend about 30 minutes doing the back flips/layouts,, why do they make you do that?, i was getting severely frustrated and was starting to loose my temper with my coaches and act like a prick to them.
  9. i was confused on the issue for sometime and fell into the super tight gimp suits commonly worn in europe and this is my now somewhat more enlightened opinion for most people a fairly baggy(in correct drag zones) is the best bet, it keeps your speed curve more moderate and makes it less work to stay with the super slow and less force on your legs and arms while your holding an angle(head up/down) you should probably only go to tighter suits if you are really tunned into your teamates speed curve and want to speed up your moves(transitions etc...) or if your doing alot of ad chalenge type stuff to stop you from floating on your transitions... in the summer i fly with just a t-shirt and shorts, and i honestly find my 360's and cartwheels are noticably faster, though my legs and arms do ache when im flying with someone who's slow or is wearing a suit. it is a little harder to fly without drag find a happy medium that relates sensibly to what your doing and ability and aims bla bla bla michigan suits seem pretty good on the loose fit option
  10. andy basically waved a red flag at me and hoped that i would charge at it, i cant do that anymore-inapropriate given what i do now(im in charge andy) within freeflying the only licence that really means anything is the AD licence, though it could be expanded somewhat to focus on head up etc... The FF1 and 2 arent trully objective standards in term of flying ability, there somewhat like a FS1 in that sense, too reliant upon other variable eg.. other flyers. A better way of stating what andy meant was 'UK is horendous for freeflying' and most would probably agree. Thats not to say some people are born flying OK and some arent but the general attitude is non progressive. People arent geniunely interested in learning how to freefly, dont listen to anyone, and those that are telling everyone what to do and not to do, probably shouldnt be. This isnt an easy thing to remedy, it seems almost cultural. Just avoid 99% of the UK types and do your own thing. Sorry i didnt bite
  11. i've done loads of coaching at different times any have a wierd perspective ive gone with babylon, fly boyz, frick, aria and alchemy. the best 2 coaches are 1. alaska jon 2. ippo fabbi jon is the best for vertical, ippo the best for horizontal ive also done 2 hours in the tunnel(1.5hrs coached by jon) it makes you very good head up, but takes some time i think to get the head down benifits and is very costly to do so jon and ippo do massive pre and post jump briefsm and thier personalitites are the best part, incredible people, i honestly think the student/coach relationship is vital some coaches ie...babylon, really skimp on the briefs and arent nearly as experienced/talented and just want to bang in the coach jumps, steer clear of these types... the fly boyz and frick are both highly talented and personable guys as well!
  12. ive heard that andy is hosting a swooping competition at nethers... he has appartently and i qoute ' COMPLETELY MASTERED' his stiletto 120 have another pint mate
  13. i seriously hope it happens again in italy missed it last year I COULDA BEEN A CONTENDA!! mourn for brown horse!
  14. i seriously hope theyll be another, somewhere like spain or italy ill be there if it goes
  15. RW flyers have no constant point of reference to determine speed, lift, angle and therefore will find it very very difficult to assess these determinants. trackings is a discipline in itself in freeflying, just a afterthough in RW. some tracking dives in the US can be a bit slow if its a big way so that everyone can be there, but try a track dive in europe with an angle and the speed and angle can be a bit silly ie... very very fast. Freeflyers generally speaking, are better as in more skilled and more aware trackers ALASKA JON ROCKS!!!!! I ROCK!!!!
  16. ya know its attitudes like yours that make it glaringly obvious why europe and europeans for that matter have stagnated economically, socially and morally. a bit pathetic really
  17. to be quiet honest i think palm up or down suggests that you are focusing on the wrong things, this is relatively unimportant in comparisson to the amount of pressure on your legs and knees, torso angle, balence to feet and head and overall lift your focusing on the wrong things
  18. heres an idea. why doesnt a paralell system roughly resenbling the olav AD system be instituted under the uspa. ie.. A AD licence, B etc... Set up upon simular standards, aims etc... That way there could be a standard people could aspire to with testers/instructors more readily available and at the same time it would marginalise olavs influence/control. call it a skyball licence test not AD bla bla. Having a licencing system with levels signifying degrees of proficientcy is one means of pushing people to attempt to achive a higher standar of flying and at the same time can be an effect means of communocating ability ie... so and so has a B licence, he/she should be OK. The current system in the UK is a complete joke and there seems to be only self regulation in the US and worldwide. The french B4 licence is very well thought out with flying and ground theory being tested to a high standard(not that i can sit in the same room as them). just an idea
  19. i think what most people dislike about the whole AD/OLAV situation is the presumption that one individual has claimed ownership of the system ie... only he certifies others to give the test etc... it makes it inconvenient and expensive to take the test ie,, find a tester. it should be more freely available as in more testers, maybe the authority should be sub-governed by the USPA. but i think this one Olav, one school is no solution at all, it is stiffling the development of the sport to one degree or another

    atmonauti...

atmonauti, or astroMcnaughty , is basically just tracking. if you break horizontal flight down into various aspect as in 1. high angle 2. low angle with high speed and low speed caveats astromcnaughty is just high angle low speed tracking if you look at it over the last couple of years though, using espace boogie as the benchmark, it has gotten progressively shallower and shallower, its now more or less RW with everyone on thier backs now very interesting thouh

    UK nationals

Sebastine free jive, easily. They are by far the best team in the UK. It was great of the meacocks last year to put themselves in the B category out of fear of being beaten my chris and his crew. Chris sounds like he's coming this year, again. Apart from him, who knows, who cares! The meacocks are wankers!
  22. gee, someone here is over sensitive... actually my intended meaning was that if you have a look at for example the worlds last year in emuria, the babylon team was seamlessly perfect in proximity and in thier transitions(the fact that they counted each round independantly, a in effect only counted half of the rounds, interesting way of scoring)... in the US, flying tends to be a bit more dynamic(more transitions, movement, more overall stuff), whereas in europe i have noticed they tend to do a little less in each dive, but it tends to be noticably better(smooter, closer, no massive gaps after each eagle/ trans.) yes, there is an ascetic ideal that some guys seem to value overall a couple of facts are not in dispute 1. The best flyers in the world are either american, live in america. reasoning-higher per person GDP, cheaper jumps, better weather 2. Though they do not place as consitently high as the US, many european teams are both highly skilled and incredibly innovative. --- team frick doing freestyle compulsaries in atmonauti!!!! 3. Americans are not savages, as a canadian living in the UK, i probably have more in common with you yanks than europeans 4. Starbucks coffee is by far the best Ive been coached in europe by babylon and frick And in the US by Alaska Jon and the Fly Boyz I overall think the standard of coaching and flying in the US is higher, but babylon and frick are awesome coaches with a real insight into what this sport is all about, real innovators, awesome guys
  23. im off to orlando later this year and wana do some tunnel time(coached of course!) ill be around for just over a week whats a good plan ie... 30 mins solo, then 2.5hrs with my team mate or 1hr solo then 1-2 hours with my team mate how much should i do a day alot say dont push it too much when you start out.... do you really have to fly a really bid daffy to stay on your head, cause i cant do a daffy yet later
  24. this is just my really limited understanding of the whole head down thing i though the spine/ torso should remain straight the anchor the body(like a string pupet) the feet/legs create the drag to keep ya head down arms are for fine tunning / compensating when docking(turning the whole body when gripping) and a little bit to do with speed i was told by a wise man - fly with your feet - but alot of us don't, and use alot of other stuff. i think for the best guys, they can establish simple concepts based upon thousands of years of experience that break it down im still trying to let my feet do the work and keep my arms free to dock and give the finger to my mates... seems sensible to me bollocks to this p
