  1. okay, point by point judging on the free rounds was rubbish(they werent scoring any of the guys any point on anything horizontal...!) on the compulsaries they didnt want any camera interaction, and according to FAI competition scoring guidlines, this is an essential portion of the judging ie... 0 = no camera interaction, lots of blue sky etc... 10= massive 3D camera interaction, aways in frame etc... right, top 3-4 brit teams not good enough, well you said that i didnt i spend 3 month a year abroad training in the US and europe(august is one of those months), so taking a couple of days out to hang around in the UK to put up with all sorts of rubbish when i can actually be pogressing seems like madness to me,and for what to take a medal and get no funding from the BPA, free jive has put up with that for years... i dont know why they even bother, cred probably, not that they need it... the uk freefly scene is in all honesty about a dozen give or take one or two competent people all in all, so yeah, great... getting better, not hard by those figures
  2. its really a couple of things 1. broadly speaking the dropzones and the bpa tend to really milk the competitors for everything they can ie..'monetarily'. 2. the standard of the judging is pretty low, it is a issue internationally but in the UK it is a particular issue 3. one of the personalities organising, on that i shall say no more 4. i think generally its a difficult situation freefly wise for competition. standards of flying are the lowest in europe and the freefly crowd isnt particularly good at organising itself(its intrests) so the lowest common(and i emphasise the word common)denominator tends to take over. but partly thats the apathy of the freefly public in the UK 5. and no, none of this has to do with weather... belgium and switzerland have it statistically as bad as we do, and disposable income is similar, so as far as im concerned its a primarily cultural issue. everyone likes to claim its the weather, but as we've seen its not the case, look at the russains, again. 6. i just feel that if your honestly serious about freefly and competition, then you go over to the US(money meet at az + colon berrys stuff east coast) or europe for the space games etc.. its really because there's something in these other national characters that makes them much more disciplined in learning to fly and in progressive attitudes towards the sport. ,, hey no more negative vibes, MEDICATE THIS MAN SERGEANT MAJOR...
  3. p.s. avoid them like the plaque re:british chics involved in skydiving, they're like an animal with the head of a snake and the body of a mongoose...
  4. i however am extreemly enthusiastic about the event and have absolute faith in not only the people organising it, but also the BPA's support for the event demos for hats isnt that what you are andy?

  8. hi everyone, im flying into eloy on my own(the rest of my team decided to do spain this christmas)to eloy from the UK and ill be there from the 27th till the 9th of january. im looking for some other people who are interested in indi racing and ad challenge as im training for the next space games. im also looking for some people just to do some general flying with. ive got my Atmosphere dophin A and im training for my B licence, ive got over 1000 jumps, over 100 coached with alaska, ippo fabbi and frick. id like to do 10 a day with a group and im sure the load organisers will be tough to get a hold of. if anyones gonna be there and is interested send me an email cheers p
  9. hi jeffro doubt you remember but we met not last christmas but the one before(i was the brit geting coached by alaska with my team)and we all went out to some iffy resturaunt... anyhow, im seriously tempted to do eloy rather than perris this christmas, if im coming over by myself and im at an ok level(AD A and training for my B licence) are there people to organise for me as i dont know anyone there and wana do 10+ organised jumps a day? ive heard there's like a thousand people coming so do you think id would make more sense coming to eloy or perris if i wana do 10 a day organised. ill be there from the 26th of december till the 9th of january any help would be great cheers piers
  10. Appauling customer service, high jump prices, you never get to jump, the staff think they are world class skydivers but in fact are some of the worst I've ever met, water logged runways and landing area, bad food, unprofessional, the kit store will rip you off, and super cliquey scared low jump number skydivers and staff.
  11. just a suggestion but if u want alot of people to come over, then putting an event like this around easter or christmas might attract alot more people as most of us get time off work on these dates. i only fly over to the states on christmas and easter to train, italy for the summer, check out arezzo!
  12. why dont u just email the obvious call sign and ask?
  13. quirky little countries- fair enough brazil is bigger and has a larger population than the UK, but i was really refering to the fact that it is a 3rd world country more or less, with a pretty vauge rule of law and questionable business practices that those of us that live in the UK or US take for granted Brazil- a high standard of flying. sorry. maybe one or two OKish teams, no real contenders for any medals. nothing at all even approaching the standards you see in the US, france or italy. They worked really hard to make it happen- no, the FAI tried to save face and brazil shouldnt have been alowed to try and host another event after its last screw up, it recieved a ban after its last one, so i seriously believe that someone in the FAI was given 'serious incentives' to allow it to happen there. The brazilian government promised unrestricted support and failed to deliver anything, alot of the planning wasnt done at all. I cant comment on the DZ but lets be honest, compare it to Eloy or lapalisse or Perris, no competition.
  14. a number of people are very much to blame here 1. FAI, for giving brazil a second chance. it was given a two year ban last time it messed up 2. Elements in Brazil. The fai needs to stop trying to hold these events in quirky little countries(no doubt it officals were motivated by signicant under table deals). Granada was a disaster, everyone there agrees and for simular reasons, not poor organisational skills. For no organisational skills Some of the european members need to swallow thier pride and accept that the best place to hold these events is the US, where they go off without a hitch, and theres alot more transparency with the deals. Failing that major european centers like lapalisse or empuria. Japan apparently went off without a hitch as well. With corrupt and unproffessional behavior like this, no wonder we find it difficult to attract major sponsors, what company would deal with behavior like this. We will always be a fringe sport if this continues. Think about the athletes who have changed thier whole lifestyles and dedicate thier lives to competition just to have this happen. things need to change and they need to change now, for the sports sake first and second for the athletes. this isnt for the benifit of corrupt and innept officals, lets put them in the bin where they belong p
  15. i got your dates, anything planned for either at christmas or at easter time(its the only time that me and my mates can get out to the states)? cheers p
  16. where is the best place for technical stuff going on in august to go to if u wana do 10 a day with good flyers(im coming on my own) the ranch, crosskeys or perris or wherever?? cheers p
  17. im off to kolomna for all of august(or seriously considering it), if i wanted to do 100jumps a week, do you think this is realistic( i wana do at least 300 in august) is the weather consistant? are there any good freeflyers there as im coming alone(good ie AD licence standard) cheers piers
  18. whats up, im coming back over to the US christmas time for 2 weeks, you got something going on around then?? cheers p
  19. im off from 6th august till the 5th of septmeber to kolomna to do 100 a week alot spaceball+ atmonauti, anyone else going mad there this summer. anyone got any advice??? p
  20. IM off there all of august , wana do 100 a week, lotta AD chalenge type stuff(training for my B licence) and alot of angled stuff(atmonauti) anyone going who fits the bill>
  21. ya know ive sepnt about 6 months in total now in empuria and i honestly think that lapalisse is the best place ive seen in europe, constant loads, lots of very good flyers with really good attitudes doing really interesting stuff empuria, well babylon really doesnt do too much beyond coaching, doesnt organise and the tickets are very good value for money dont get me wrong, i resent the french, but you've gotta hand it to them, they've got an awesome set up in lapalisse, one of the best ever
  22. i left there ages ago, the worst dz on the planet. the most unhelpfull people(1 or 2 ok)ever jane buckel is a con artist, she made trigger do 30 aff levels basically because he wasnt doing his 360's in place and on heading, and charged him extra for consoles to monitor him from the telemeter(with set things to do on each dive and if not correct, he had to re-do them). and charged for a QJ(qualifying jump). go somewhere else its almost comical how bad the place is, like something out of 'LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN', are you local??????
  23. how many pilatus(s)do you have there and is it ok to jump the spaceball at your dz(ive got my ad licence)
  24. yeah, its pretty simple. go to a country where you can jump the ball, achieve a reasonable standard ie... ad b minimum, then come back to the UK. complex stuff
