  1. We are looking forward to coming out and supporting the new dz! Jon and Lynn
  2. Technically it was 42 years for Paul, just 35 in that location. The planes are owned by Fayard Enterprises which is separate business from Carolina skysports.
  3. It is the 35th anniversary of the dropzone, Paul and Nancy have been working 7 days a week for 35 years, and they are retiring. They made the announcement themselves to all of us after dinner. Paul said he also sent out an official press release about 5 minutes before he made the announcement at the dz.
  4. It is true, come out and jump Sunday and Monday for the last two days of the boogie.
  5. I'd say no, if you are not looking for a job in aviation. Not relevant. I've read lots of resumes, and the less extraneous information the better. I want to know what experience you have that is specifically relevant to the job. With that said, I work in aviation, and feel it would not be irrelevant to see that on a resume for an aviation related job. I work in an avionics shop, and I listed my dz work experience on my resume. I also did not list any non-aviation work experiance on my resume when applying to avionics shops.
  6. Come out to Louisa tomorrow for the Motus Boogie and you will have a big audience for your stories
  7. Bad Doug. Was that from Labor day weekend? You went rafting like that? Go to the hospital and get an xray. Make sure you drop the keg off first! See you tomorrow
  8. Stick around until the end of the day. At most of the smaller dz's I've been to, they'll have a cookout and/or bonfire at the end of the day, or everyone will go out to dinner together. Also by sticking around after your jump, you can watch and listen to what is going on, and learn more about skydiving. You can also ask if they'll have a packing class for you and the other new students, again at the end of the jumping day. I never mind teaching someone to pack, but it's hard during the day when I'm jumping or working (packing)!
  9. We kept her entertained all weekend. Great rafting trip, glad you came along this year Liz! Happy birthday
  10. LJ, you can drink beer with us! Lynn
  11. If it contains Pseudoephedrine as the decongestant, you just ask for it at the pharmacy. They'll probably take down your driver's license information (in NC they do). All of the oral decongestants sitting out on the shelves now seem to contain Phenylephrine instead.
  12. Ian will be at Skydive Virginia in Louisa! (Bettina, where are you?) Her message from the Louisa list: ------------------------------------- Hello SDV Regulars! If I have not told you already, I booked Ian's flights! I'll have him at the DZ bright and early on July 21. We'll be heading out about 3:00 on Sunday. I'll send out the time structure as we get closer. I am planning to cook out the night of the 21st. Since J and I will be away around the 4th of July, we will most likely bring our fireworks for the canopy weekend. :-) Even if you do not plan to participate in the canopy coaching - it promises to be an awesome weekend with a good party Sat night. Hope you'll mark your calendars. I know you are all such social butterflies.... Please email me with questions -- Bettina Markowitz www.freeflygraphics.com
  13. I got to fly the Goodyear Blimp! I lucked into a ride by being in the right place at the right time. (I work at an airport.) I asked the pilot if I could fly, he asked the other passengers if they minded, and then we all took turns.
  14. Jon and I will be there. Jon might bring some of his NC friends too!
  15. QuoteFriday update: Tandems tomorrow from 9 am into the afternoon. Awesome bands in Carrboro after dark. Be there or be square.Quote Our team is training at CSS this weekend, hope to see lots of people around the bonfire Saturday night.
  16. Ha, I love your pics! I am jealous, I miss GG's!
  17. Very cool! I took a workshop with him last year, he really is amazing
  18. You might want to try The Skydivin' Place in Littlestown, PA. It's a very fun Cessna dz, and they jump during the week quite a bit during the summer season. They do have a grass runway however, during the winter if it's covered with snow and in the spring, when it's too squishy, we have to partake in other activites such as skating on their pond or jumping on their trampoline.
  19. Hey Dawn, Jon and I just did the Upper Gauley yesterday! It was awesome. Make sure you get the video
  20. Harry, We wish you a speedy recovery. Jon will be moving back in October and will visit you I am sure. Lynn & Jon
  21. So many choices when you live in this area! You should visit all of these dzs. My favorites are the very friendly Skydive Virginia and Skydivin' Place. Although my team trains at Orange, big plane, flies all day.
  22. We're leaving straight from work tonight, yay! Actually, now my team is all going to the boogie so we'll be practicing a lot. I'll have to sneak one in with the Foxes on Friday!
  23. Will you be playing with us or training that weekend?
