  1. I used to house sit for a friend that (at the time) had two of the largest house cats I’ve ever seen...not fat, simply massive, felines with the genes of panthers in their past (as expressed in the looks of distain they gave their pet humans)… My friends lived pretty far in the woods, so insects were often attracted to the lone light emanating from the house. But for Barnabus and Cladapus (or Barney and Clyde on the rare occasions they were feeling affectionate) being outdoor predators of great terror and renown among the furry and feathered, (as often demonstrated by bloody, sometime half living, ‘presents’ left on the kitchen floor in gracious exchange for my ability to operate a can opener) such prey was entirely beneath their notice…... One night while I was watching a movie with only the tv and a single light in the far corner of the great room, I noticed a tiny movement on the floor out of the corner of my eye... immediately also noticed a much larger movement from the top of the german 'shrunck' (no idea how its spelled, to lazy to look it up, but it is a HUGE, floor to ceiling, modular shelf/entertainment center that measures some 12 feet tall) with no sound other than the whoosh of freefall (when i think of it now it sounds like the beginning of a good swoop, but this was loooong before i heard that sound) Clyde (the larger) came smack down from above with all four paws perfectly, on what was, a 2 inch wood roach that had initially caught my eye.... after stepping off the messy remains he quietly licked his paws and gave me a look that said simply... "yes, you may now worship the prowess and ease with which I pounce...." and wandered off flicking his tail to find more amusing prey and more appreciative audiences.... i swear he enjoyed scaring me more than crushing the roach... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  2. those are 'hands down' some of the most manuverable fighters on the planet... I've talked to two US pilots who would rather fly them simply for the sheer joy of it than any fighter we've ever made..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  3. as the pixie pointed out, you can make donations whenever you wish, for as much as you wish... and while you reaching for your wallet, think about how long, how many coaches, how many dropzones, and how many coach jumps you would have had to pay for to acquire all the information available here... then remember that all of that is available for free, to everyone from the total skydiving pro to the first time wuffo that wonders why we jump... the membership is a VERY small way to help support the site and pay back HH for the time and energy he spends maintaining it (and in managing the nut house social forums as well sure you can 'freeload' as long as you like.. but the extra options you get for becoming a member are 'icing' on the cake HH gives away for free.... me? i REALLLY like icing....particularly if its on some tasty cakes... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  4. then he is an IDIOT... going to a strip club with a woman makes for a MUCH better experience all the way around.... of course maybe that is his problem... they get more attention than he does.. and he feels shorted because he is paying for it... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

    Land of the Dead

great flick.. good on action and full of the zombie mythos (both obvious and not) that made then genre into a cult classic... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  6. wow those are some big uhhhh errrr booties.. yea thats the ticket... color?? i thought you were a real redhead? or is the color just the stripes? not that there is anything wrong with stripes ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  7. and people wonder why i listen to NPR even when i occasionally 'argue' with the radio... Its pretty much the only news source that consistently lets you know there really is a War going on..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  9. a-fuckin-men... one thing that is certainly criminal is the amount of money service members are paid for risking their lives when compared to those who order them to do so...... all politicians paychecks should be suspended anytime american soldiers are deployed anywhere... doing so means that the politicians have FAILED to do their job and the military is left to fix the mess the hard way..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  10. not on Mondays and Tuesdays, but otherwise they do loads all morning and till 2-3 ish on weekends.. (which kind of annoys... i LOVE sunset jumps, but there isnt much to do if you not jumping so once it stops it doesnt start up again after the temp drops... sunset isnt till 8-9) if you get out early you can make alot of jumps before the heat (and more importantly the dust devils) pick up... ....now if only i werent working in the middle of the mojave.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  11. Keep looking… reading my profile is a good start…..i wasn’t always a contractor… the reason i say i probably know more about how a chain of command actually works is i've been involved in flag level meetings and observed exactly how the commanders intent is broken down into individual orders that are cascaded down into subordinate commands and then divided into tasks and subtasks for individual elements....unless of course you believe a corp commander actually orders each individual squad to charge a particular nest....its a very enlightening experience to observe a process as an outside evaluator than as a cog in the machine... it is VERY easy to ask questions in a manner that will produce the answers you want. It is also very easy to ignore information that doenst fit your preconceptions/ predetermined goals and emphasis that which does... all of which are signs of bad policy making and poor leadership If Bush had not already stated his intentions toward regime change I’d be more likely to give him the benefit of doubt when he claims to have been ‘misled’. However not one, not two, not even three, but MULTIPLE sources indicate that Bush wanted Saddam removed from power BEFORE HE WAS EVEN ELECTED PRESIDENT!! and was looking for an excuse to do so... there is this term in the Intel world called ‘correlation’... it is where one source is used to confirm or authenticate the information from another. It is part of what defines and seperates ‘information’ and ‘Intel’... ironically Bush's intention toward regime change has been expressed and illuminated by several separate sources including the mission statement for the organization that now makes up the bulk of his closest advisors (have you read it?? if not perhaps you should) while the some of “Bad Intel” used to justify the initial invasion was not only NOT correlated at all, but came from a source that was clearly of questionable veracity and motivations, and yet STILL was taken as gospel because the information provided backed the direction the administration wished to go…… All of this is public knowledge.. I’d suggest you do some back ground reading of your own if you don’t believe me… its fairly sad when publicly disclosed “Intel” clearly refutes one of the prime sources used to justify an invasion, an invasion that has already cost the lives of nearly 2000 soldiers and has also ironically PROVEN that Saddam WAS NOT the ‘eminent threat’ claimed and that the timeline Bush pressed with his "Bad Intel" was almost completely unnecessary and unjustified. What benefit was there to invading when we did? What would we have lost by waiting? Saddam was confined and contained, had no ability to create WMD even if he wished to, sure he was paying terrorists, but he is FAR from the only one doing so...a known, contained and controlled enemy is MUCH easier to deal with... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  12. maybe you should search this site for my user name, i dont need to waive my experience around like a flag.. but yea i'd say i know ALOT more about the chain of command than you do, as I work with it at all levels, in every service, on a regular basis and I am well aware how it applies pressure to the lower levels to please those at the higher... HOW you ask a question is VERY important to WHAT answers you get... the CIC asks the questions...the Intel community provides the answers to those questions... checks and balances is a pretty outdated term the way our government works now, and has worked for the last 50 years or so..... it may have been originally designed that way, but a large number the original intents have been subverted and circumvented... perhaps a search on recent energy reports released by the administration is in order?? Seems to be SOP for this administration to publicly spin the facts to support their objectives… ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  13. we as a nation have no influence or responsibility for the way the enemy behaves.. we are completely responsible for the way WE behave, no matter what is done against us... it is what distinguishes us from them ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  14. i wonder if you really understand how the chain of command works??? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  15. Bush and his cabinet have no say on what the CIA/NSA compile in their briefs, files, etc. The president in fact has very little power, our system is set up that way. The CIA/NSA act independent of the White House. rotflmao... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  16. well if you reread (mouth the words if you have to) what i actually wrote you might understand.. if not i dont give a shit really... i've balls and backbone enough to back up everything i say.. or i wouldnt say it, i have no desire or inclination to burn a flag or cause you or any other misguided veteran physical harm or legal action.. however assault is assault.. if you commit it you will go to jail... no matter what you think your justification was... a judge who has actually read and understands the constitution wont care much either... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  18. I dare you too to walk into the vfw and burn one.. i have no reason or desire to.... but if i were to do so (in a public place, VFW is not) anyone who assualted me while doing so would be going to jail... after they were released from medical... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  19. well as i said, i dont burn flags, but if hypothetically i were to and you were to attack me i would defend myself, have the cops drag you off for assault, and i would press charges. not only would you be violating a fundamental principle of our country by your over reaction to my exercise of a constitutionally protected freedom, you'd also be violating several criminal laws.. i dont start fights anymore, but i dont have any problem with punishing those foolish enough to give me a 'self defense' excuse ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  20. when you put yourself in a ridiculous, indefensible position you deserve to be mocked.... she simply gave a clear example that would put his two absolutes into direct conflict.. i personally think it would be an interesting experiment and highly entertaining to watch... i hope when/if it happens someone gets video, and includes facial expressions for all parties involved... because in actuallity it IS only colored cloth (and not even YOUR colored cloth or you could charge them with theft at least) and anyone who would commit assault over burning cloth has some fundamental issues... so from one perspective she would be helping him work thru those issues... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  21. honestly i dont care one bit.. there isnt anything you can say over the internet i'd actually care about, but it pretty clearly violates the rules as written... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  22. true perhaps, but she isnt the one who stated two 'absolutes' that could clearly come into conflict... so its not out of the question to ask? which is more important to him? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  23. yup you still dont get it, maybe you never will... but you will likely get the traditional 7 days whenever a greenie shows up...so for the last time The country is more than the flag.. nothing you can do to a flag affects the country in the least defending the flag in place of the principles it represents undermines the principles.. you can get a new flag.. you cant get new principles... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
