Skydiving from a different altitude above sea level?

Actually 5052. Which is why he put in the ~ symbol, which means approximately equal to. Good to know nonetheless. -
Skydiving from a different altitude above sea level?
Jkralovec replied to Jkralovec's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How is my canopy going to react? thinner air (altitude) but thicker because of the cold, right? I think your dytter and Neptune should "zero" themselves when you turn them on. Double check the owners manual (you have read it right??) As far as your canopy, yes. Higher will give you less dense air, colder will give you more. Which will be dominant is the question. I think it will be thinner air, which will give you a higher forward speed, higher descent rate and less flare power. Talk to your instructors at X-Keys and also to the instructors at Mile-Hi. Local jumpers with real life knowledge of the local conditions should have the best information. Yeah, I'm talking to a guy who jumped in Louisiana and is now in CO. He pretty much mirrored what you just said. So I'll be taking it easy for the first few. -

Skydiving from a different altitude above sea level?

I normally jump at Cross Keys (New Jersey) and we're at sea level. Next weekend I'm going to be at Mile-High in Colorado, which you guessed it, is ~ 5280 feet above sea level. Will my Neptune 2 figure this out, or do I have to reset it? Also, will my ditter go off on the plane? and will I need to adjust it as well? -
Very cool. Thanks for the advice.

I am ordering some freefly pants from Tony Suits!!! Wahoo! I am having some trouble with the Short Z measurement. Umm...should I measure straight down over and below the goods or cup those suckers, move them to the side and pull the tape up as high as I can? I've never measured myself before. Thanks!

What if i said I know exactly what they're talking about

Hey all, I'm going to be in Colorado Springs this next weekend and I'm trying to make a jump or two at Mile-High. Is anyone going to be making that same journey on Saturday October, 17th? Jeff -
I'll see you all on the 18th then. Peace!

Picture attachments vs. Imbedded ???
Jkralovec replied to Jkralovec's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Why aren't there imbedded pictures on this site? I'm sure it has something to do with NSFW but can't you just make the bonfire completely NSFW. The attachments are so annoying... Also...Subaru ad needs to go. -
[Italy] Where to jump in Sienna [/Italy]
Jkralovec replied to Jkralovec's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Wait, Are we talking about third party insurance from the University or third party insurance from the Dropzone? How do you skydive in another country? -

Yeah, I'm definitely not letting the school know. -

Jkralovec replied to Jkralovec's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm going to Sienna for study abroad this winter (Jan 4th to Feb 1) Does anyone on here live there? Are there any drop zones in the area? Are there certain rules and regulations different from the US that will not allow me to jump? Like will my USPA License card be valid in Italy? -
First of all, I'm not thinking of getting a Velocity, I fly a Sabre2 135. As you know, my canopy has 9 cells and the specter has 7 cells... WHY do Velos have 21 cells???

Here is a scenario that fits the bill; this incident should be enough to make it clear that tube stows are not the best idea: http://www.dropzone.com/fatalities/Detailed/12.shtml Students off FJC can recognize tube stows as a risk. It's not just about double wrapping them, for example, rubber bands are designed to break in situations where lines get trapped in the excess loop. Jump what you like, but understand there's method to the minor inconvenience of correctly sized rubber bands. So she forgot to cock her pilot chute and because that didn't catch enough wind to pull the main canopy out it is the stows' fault? Am I understanding this correctly. I use rubber bands but you have got to be kidding me. Jeff

Does anyone know what happened and why the reserve wasn't deployed or if it was, why it didn't work?
-
ok then. thanks !

I have been in need of freefly pants and I will be getting them here! Thanks

I've seen many fellow jumpers jumping in sunglasses, rather than goggles. I think the most popular glasses are gators. How much wind gets you your eyes and is it at all uncomfortable. What are the benefits, or is it just "the look"? Would I be ok with Oakley square wires? Jeff

Skyhook RSL snag on door handle, at pin cover flap

Those are actually very informative resources. Thanks!

Thank you

I'm having a used container inspected by my rigger. I pretty much just called him up and asked him if he would take a look at this container that I'm interested in buying. I think that it is understood that I plan on having him inspect any other gear that I'll be buying and he will definitely be packing my reserve. Is there a set price for inspecting used gear or is this something you tip for? If it's a tip, I don't want to insult the guy, so what is standard? Thanks!

Can you bring a rig on a commercial airplane?
