  1. I haven't tried Freak, but from the shape and based on ther experience with Squirrel suits, I would expect it to be quite different than Funk, so I wouldn't say Funk is the smaller version of Freak
  2. I think it makes a huge difference how you stow your RDS lanyards. I think some people stow it at the bottom of the bag (some use a rubberband attached to sling connecting lanyard to the bag). I personally stow mine just at the edge of the bag and so far have no lineburn marks. Although I only have jumped about 160 jumps with full RDS with this canopy. EDIT: not to be completely off-topic. I have a Skylark's RDS, with what seems to be normal dacron line (I'm guessing 400-500 lbs)
  3. Quite much text for somebody who doesn't care
  4. For me tracking suit is the way to go when I want to have some fun with flips, gainers etc and at the and still get some separation from the object. For flying (since I suck at tracking ) I use WS EDIT: and also, for me one-piece TS is just cheating
  5. I couldn't agree more. Of course there are other aspects than performance when choosing the suit, i.e. the way suits fly or customer/sponsoree support which can have huge impact on decision
  6. I fully agree and some good points in there, however I think it didn't really answer the question. In my opinion you can start training high performance landings on any canopy, but also even in the square canopy group there are more and less suitable models for it. I have seen some front riser approaches on Safire2 170 loaded at 1.1 and it seems that the recovery arc is very short ( however maybe somebody with more experience could comment more as I only saw a few) Sabre2 is in my opinion a really good one to start with (and also to stick with for longer time). I use Pilot 150 for WS and it does the job pretty well also.
  7. Can you share some details/photos?
  8. What is with You Germans and war?
  9. You can take it directly from the sentence above. It is the point that recovery from it " (...) is both dangerous and inefficient." This strongly depends on the canopy you are using (e.g. recovery arc)
  10. When ordering from Icarus / Daedalus you can have any size you want. Also by x-brace I guess you meant canopy more for swopoing and don't count Matrix2? http://www.nzaerosports.com/canopies/daedalus-matrix2
  11. There's a photo on the website of a 9 cell x-brace (schumannish shape) wing. Anybody know what it is? Edited to add attachement
  12. that's a known fact. That's why in base you see (almost) only F111 or vented ZP PCs (when we talk about terminal jumps)
  13. I had a n "issue" like this: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4752746#4752746 Turned out it was my technique, not GSwoop. Maybe it helps...
  14. So, as far as gswoop is concerned you're literally swooping like ass? It was there in front of me, all this time, but I couldn't see it... That makes a lot of sense (and is basically the same what danielcroft said ) thanks!
  15. I don't know what's wrong, but most of my plots look like pair of buttocks :) See pic below. I also attached the cvs files, so if you have time you can take a look. I put my flysight on for about 15-20 min every morning and then for 2-3 before every jump. I only got one plot proper and all the rest are missing the middle of the turn. While doing 270s I don't have this problem. Just now with 450s. EDIT: I tried 1G, 2G and 4G and see no difference.
  16. I refer to Hop and Pop if I don't plan on doing anything else but open and fly my canopy. Sometimes if there are more people on the pass it may take e.g. 7 or 8 seconds to get enough separation, but usually it's around 3-4 just to get nice stable position to pull
  17. the nickname 'Spinletto' hasn't come from nowhere :)
  18. I've heard people saying that VK has actually shorter recovery arc than VC, but when they got some experience on VK then they said the exact opposite. It just needed a tweak or two in their technique. Just wondering, maybe Helix also needs some tricks to lenghten the recovery arc?
  19. And another question. I've noticed that while doing bigger turns (bigge rthan 270), half of the turn is not visible on the plots. I changed the mode from 1G to 2G and the problem still exists. So two questions: - should I do anything else besides changing the mode in cfg file and saving it? - is 2G enough or should I use 4G?
  20. On the site it's written that Flysight is the only supported GPS receiver, and according to my knowledge the maximum frequency is 5 Hz. How are you using 10 Hz?
  21. Ball Dragging would also sound way more awesome than Swooping!
  22. how about recovery arc? Do i rememeber correctly somebody saying it's shorter on VK, or is it my bad memory?
  23. That's actually brilliant! Just came to my mind. How about mounting it in the same spot as Skytie ( or whatever the magnetic thing to keep your slider down is called) i.e. on the upper reserve flap? EDIT: Also, how far should flysight be from GoPro not to cause interference? I have mine about 10 cm (or slightly less) and seems to work fine. At least the results seems ok. How the interference could be noticed? Loss of connection to satelites? Corrupted data?
  24. I was wondering if there's some formula that could be used to calculate speed of the canopy based on wingloading of the canopy? Of course that differs based on many factors like canopy structure (x-braced etc.), RDS, pilot's size, clothing etc. etc. But if the same shaped object would be hanged from the canopy can we say that for 'x' WL the speed of e.g. Sabre2 flying straight in full flight would approx. be 'y'?
