Radio instruction - can you tell them to cut away?
drenaline replied to CanEHdian's topic in Safety and Training
Thats why its dangerous to tell the student to cut away. In my students radio days I couldnt hear the instructions and even less the names that the instructor was calling. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com -
Radio instruction - can you tell them to cut away?
drenaline replied to CanEHdian's topic in Safety and Training
Thats the same thing my instructor told me. We are closer to the canopy so we should know what we see because we are supposed to have had a good ground school (no student is in the plane if the instructor thinks or knows that the student does not know his stuff). I think the only time he will tell a student to cut away is in a extreme situation, something like a 2 out downplane and student hesitating, but I dunno am just guessing on this one. once you beat that fear everything will be aok. My last 2 roll in the floor landings were because of fear, after that it has been al stand ups. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Wow cool! on the second pic "So's this." it looks like if they were jumping 500 feets from the ground. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Radio instruction - can you tell them to cut away?
drenaline replied to CanEHdian's topic in Safety and Training
Same here, we do a lot of emergency practice before going to the plane. Our instructor told us that the radio is a back up and that after ground school we would be fully prepared for emergency and we should not expect him to tell us to cutaway. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com -
damn that thing is ugly, makes me wanna puke! J/K bro, nice looking canopy, great colors!

Send an email or call to Velocity Sports Equipment (infinity) and to Rigging innovations (makers of talon and voodoo) to see if they can make you a custom made container with what you want for main and reserve. Disclaimer: I get nothing from those companies by writing this. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Hey Dan I read in the PD page that the slinks have passed the FAA TSO tests and are the only ones approved as TSO. How true is that? reason I bought slinks from PD and not from another factory is because of that. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
-
The slink will not stop the slider, my slider stops because I have big risers but if it werent for that it would come and hit me in the head and maybe releasing my toggles. not all of them, I used to collapse my slider and put it behind my neck when I had normal metal rings, just have to pull it down, it wears the bumpers really fast and takes a bit of time but it can be done. I won't argue with people that know more than I do and have more experience in the sport than me. I just posted my way of thinking. I trust more my red and silver pulls than the RSL or the cypres. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
-
Remember RSL is a backup, if you can do your emergency procedures with no problem then you will need no RSL. If you get nervous jumping without it then the problem is bigger, go back to the training harness and practice those pulls. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

start practicing alot of basic things (ie. levels, 90° turns, 360° turns), after you get them nice with no problems you can go to higher things. Don't try compressed accordion if you cant master the center turns with your partner, practice side bodies. What I practice with my team mate when we don't jump in a while is we start with a star then I do a 90° left (sidebody), then a 180° right (sidebody on the other side), then back to a star, partner does the same, and we repeat till 4000. The next jump is 360° turns. The idea is to practice eye contact and turning on spot controlling levels with your new partner. Remember to get video. or the best thing to do is to ask a coach. Ducky no rush, remember that you need freefall time too. Hop n pops are good for canopy control, cause there is no freefall involved so you are fully concentrated on the canopy. Since you have the C you can work for your couch ratings (skydive U and USPA or freeflying). HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Don't be nervous, just have fun, loops are full of fun, to stop the loop just arch for making the loop ask the instructor for some pointers or ask fellow jumpers to tell you, its very easy to do, no worries! Low altitude jumps are not scary, if you can get out of the plane and be stable on the hill and end up belly to earth without fliping then everything will be allright its the same thing than a altitude jump just that on this one you will pull after you are clear from the plane. Remember the first 1000 feets is 10 seconds, it feels like a minute; if you jump from 3000 feets you have 10 seconds for the pull, more than enough, no worries. And most important: on everhything you do Have Fun! HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Learn your belly, belly is one of the most important things in skydiving (if am wrong please do correct me), and also learn how to fly the parachute cause this one is the most important thing of all, a bad landing can make you stop jumping for a while. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

Do you set your brakes as soon as you land? (Be honest.)
drenaline replied to Jessica's topic in Gear and Rigging
I do the same, don't want that velcro catch all kind of things. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com -
UV rays eats the fabric, the more you keep it away from the sun, the more it will last. The only exposure to the sun we try to give is when we jump, then run to shade. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

congrats on your way of thinking. Just make sure you get a ZP main. Personal opinion, get the 150 if the wingload is 0.95. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com

How many of those standable landings are you getting in a row? If all of them are standable how bout giving it a shot and try to stand the next landing?
