Incorrect on both counts. I'll try as best as I can to help you understand my interpretation of your writings, emphasis in bold mine to highlight the issue. The original quote Your response Now the way it reads in context, like it or not, is that you're referring to single moms as tramps. That may not have been what you 'meant' but its certainly what you wrote. It's possible you're referring to something else earlier in the thread, but I don't recall seeing anything to that nature. My response to the above After which you proceeded to get into some not so subtle PA's, and then attacks on my native language (which by the way happens to be English, even though I can speak another language). The fact that this is the path you took leads me to believe that you are incapable of discussing a point, or defending a debate without 'name calling' because you either lack the skills to do so, or don't actually have a comprehensive response. In addition, I don't actually care about spelling or 'grammer' but as others have said, if you're going to make snide (and inaccurate) comments about peoples language then you better do it properly or risk looking like a fool. Now, I have little doubt you'll have some snide remark to make to this post, will likely call me some name, and then carry on with the usual speakers corner bickering. Personally, I'd love it if you proved me wrong though, and actually discussed the issue at hand. Ian ps: For the record, I think being a full time stay home mom IS a full time job and worthy of respect. pps: Damn you for making me go over my quota of speakers corner posts for the month Performance Designs Factory Team

wow, and I didn't realize that every single stay at home mom is a rich socialite with maids and nannies it's pretty amazing what one learns here Agreed. I think the above statement is equally absurd. Then again, since I spend 99% of my time lurking here, if I spent time responding to everything I thought was absurd I'd not be much of a lurker

That is the quote you were responding to. There's no assuming anything, it's pretty clear what you wrote and intended no matter how you try and tap dance around it now. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Wow. I didn't realize that every single mother out there fell into this category..... War on woman, indeed. Performance Designs Factory Team

That Triumph you bought looks pretty cool. Like a nice high class sv650 style bike. Bet it's a dream to ride in the city. As for the Evo - I still slobber every time I get on it

2011 848 Evo owner here. 263 miles on it, and counting. Love it Performance Designs Factory Team

Copy that - thanks. Of course, people listening to a DI have a very different situation than a jumper who chooses to be on a dz Performance Designs Factory Team

In my experience, demonizing a group rarely has the result of them listening to you. No different than walking up to someone and yelling at them on the dz, even if you're right. More often than not you cause them to be defensive, and immediately shut down any chance of a civil conversation at that time. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

I'll be there. Andrea, I'll bring my expo badge tomorrow. I almost got tackled going into a seminar

Can anything be learned from this video?
ianmdrennan replied to -ftp-'s topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1) Stay calm 2) Peel the velcro toggles. 3) Practice your flares, altitude permitting, quite a few times. Be ready to flare faster than you're used to, and get less response. 4) Be ready to plf, especially if you don't like the results of #3 5) Approach in full flight. Performance Designs Factory Team -

You can't go wrong with a N3, or a Viso. Personally, I prefer the N3 but you can't go wrong with either one. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -

No. And on the other side of the coin, if you go through life unhappy because you failed to pursue your passions for the sake of your family, you would be an unhappy and unfulfilled husband and father, and that would reflect negatively on your family. Just be careful, and have life insurance. John is 100% right on this one. If you were to say you wanted to skydive and make it as risky as possible - that'd probably be selfish

It appears the free market is taking it's course. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/rush-limbaugh-loses-7th-advertiser-sandra-fluke-slut-flap-article-1.1033208 Those companies are as full of it as Rush is. They are jumping ship because its bad pr to be associated with him right now. I suspect they'll be back. If they were so concerned with his values, they wouldn't be on his show to begin with. Dad arrested after daughter draws picture of gun
ianmdrennan replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Never said he was unbiased. Just *most*. That word in context takes on a whole new meaning than you inferred. To be fair, *most* is inaccurate if you're going too. *One of the more unbiased* is more accurate. And yes, it's laughable - but in a sad way. Performance Designs Factory Team -

Fair point. For future reference scroll to the bottom of the forum main page (i.e. speakers corner) and you'll see a list of moderators for that forum. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?forum=35; Performance Designs Factory Team -

Dad arrested after daughter draws picture of gun
ianmdrennan replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Why? 1, I have no idea who they would be. 2, if a media outlet is that blatantly biased, why could I consider them to be a credible newsworthy source, regardless of political affiliation? Sounds like it's a similar problem to here in the US. It's a sad statement of affairs when the most "unbiased" news source is John Stewart...... edit: thanks for providing links in your edit, but my statements above still stand. Ranting about it happening is one thing, but then he starts the thread with some tangent about liberal something or other. Seemed like his rant was more about them, than the action (although the action was the catalyst). Just the way I read it though. Performance Designs Factory Team -

I'm lost - who exactly thinks this is good/ok? I'm baffled how it happened in the first place, but I'm just as baffled by your rant since I don't see anyone saying this was a good thing. Seems like the response from the teacher was irrational - not sure who they must have told the cops to have them go and arrest the father like that. Performance Designs Factory Team -
Does anyone like the new rules?
ianmdrennan replied to morris's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
If we only did events that I liked there'd be quite a few less events The reality is that is not comparable. It really is apples and oranges. I love the feeling of going far. I also love being challenged, and the new distance challenges me as a pilot far more than the old rules. Performance Designs Factory Team
