Perris..Is this a normal practice or one time thing?
ianmdrennan replied to murphyka's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
And if that's the response to a truck, how are they going to respond to the pressure of an off field landing when they spot a wire at 50 feet? Canopy pilots - be prepared, practice and never, ever expect your canopy flight down to be uninterrupted or *conventional*. Getting spooked is a killer. Keep a calm cool head and just do whatever it is you need to do. This shouldn't have been a big deal...really. Blue ones, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
Looks sweet. How are their prices? Performance Designs Factory Team

waa?? Never ever had that issue with premiere and I've done some lengthy stuff with it. My guess would be a hardward config issue or something along those lines if you're experiencing that. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

I'm still a huge fan of Desert Combat. You need the original Battlefield 1942 and then download the free DC mod. Couple of peeps I've played with regularly came back from Vietman cause they preferred DC better. Hence my decision not to buy it yet Blue ones, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

heh. Don't get me wrong, I hear what you're saying. I realize that it's not the case oftentimes, but I still feel that they are ineffective if they don't care about their subordinates. Maybe that's why so many managers suck but it doesn't mean it's not true
-
Glad I've never worked for you. The day a manager stops caring about how happy (read: effective - they go hand in hand) an employee is, is the day they become useless. If a manager doesn't care about an employees happiness, why should the employee care if the manager gets the credit for their work? Never burn bridges. You never know when you'll need them again. That's just piss poor advice. It's also the ethical thing to do. Performance Designs Factory Team

Yeah that sounds like Eloy too. It's a system I like in that it focuses first on getting everyone landing the same direction (downwind or not) or, if alternate areas are available, shifts those not willing to follow the direction to their own little play ground Blue ones, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

It was covered a little earlier, but it's pretty much a no brainer on windy day. However, when the winds are light and variable using the windsock causes nothing but problems. On those days, at every dz I've been to, we've had the best success setting the direction before taking off. I think it's important to have them look at stuff like that (windsocks, smoke, etc) but realize landing WITH THE TRAFFIC is far, far more important than landing into the wind. I can't talk for the other poster, but if you notice I was responding to a previous posters comment on not judging others by inking, etc. The problem was your interpretation of that post. Don't make me a part of your problem. Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

What makes someone a good canopy pilot?
ianmdrennan replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Safety and Training
A good canopy pilot knows (and takes) the appropriate course of action given foreseen and unforeseen circumstances. They are adaptable and comfortable with their wing and environment. A good canopy pilot has a good understanding of their wing and canopy flight concepts. Sure there's more but I'm too tired to think right now Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
Oh HELL YES!! That and the "Guitar" are amongst my favorites! Blue skies Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
