2nd Annual MOAB Boogie... The Aftermath
cloudseeker2001 replied to TallGuy's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Sunset cross country in Moab......what a spectacular thought! Showers in Moab! I actually look forward to spending days in Moab without a shower! Where was the off DZ party? "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream" -

And to think we were almost short one slot to make the plane fly on Friday afternoon......we were going to each pay a little more to cover the empty slot.........How come you don't jump on Fridays anymore? Someone got on the load though. We could have had a really nice sunset load, but the pilot wanted to get the new plastic fence put up before the weekend. Too bad Yaga's got hit......I have had many good times in there! And the life size chess set is under all that ruble too! Were those banana spiders? Huge black and yellow ones? They are fierce looking, bite when pissed off, but not poisonous. The big ones are female and the small ones are male. Professor's experience in New Orleans
cloudseeker2001 replied to busaunit's topic in Speakers Corner
The bitching and finger pointing is what got GWB off his ass to realize this is a problem of Titanic proportions and could only be solved through the federal government. I feel the Gov of LA and the mayor did a great job of doing exactly what they had to do to get America and Washington to realize this is not a TV show, it is for real! Professor's experience in New Orleans
cloudseeker2001 replied to busaunit's topic in Speakers Corner
It is wonderful that this person was fortunate enough to get a first hand look at what happens when complete anarchy occurs. I think New Orleans could be a perfect model of any city in the US when ANY type of disaster strikes because America is easily fooled by a false sense of feeling secure and the idea that the government(local, state and federal) will help. No doubt the local law will only differ from the local thugs by their uniforms and they will provide no help to you, as an unknown idividual, whatsoever. New Orleans became a real life Escape from New York for the 48 hours or so before the military began to move in. I have heard stories from medical people who volunteerd at the Astrodome of exactly what the government, in all forms, did and did not do for those people. It is sickening. I hope this guy writes a book, I would like to read it. -
