Jump Ticket prices going up at Perris
diablopilot replied to scottjaco's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you want to be a free thinker, drop the pre-conceved notions. This goes for anywhere, not just Perris. I'm not. The main reason I'm anywhere it to live life to the fullest. If I'm not doing that I need to be somewhere else. Try to drop all of that. It's my oppinion that you will enjoy wherever you choose to skydive more. Good. See you then, smile, have a beer after, make some meaningless chit chat, whatever. Point is, don't expect anything, just let life happen. It's nice. Hopefuly something I just wrote makes sense to someone. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Please be careful when jumping with Tandem's
diablopilot replied to Rdutch's topic in Safety and Training
None taken, now put yourself in my shoes. 1) I am responsible for my saftey and that of my student. 2) I value my life, and that of my student. 3) As a TI on a jump I can't move out of the way. I have very little control other than direction I face. Tracking is near impossible. 4) I also can't see around me as easily, I can't look between my legs or do a barrel roll to see above me. 5) I've seen peolpe who thought they could stay with a tandem float 50-100 feet higher. And they were good experienced skydivers just not prepared for the jump. Above is the WORST place to be on a tandem lurk. Behind is the second worst. These are some of my reasons, and I do not feel they are harsh. I will continue to land safely if I follow my rules. I see no reason to change them. If someone really has the overwhelming desire to jump with me on a tandem, come do a two way(or bigger) before hand. Gives me an opportunity to check you out. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
I haven't seen the movie but could they just have reversed the negative? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Good. You'll have fun there. It's a great DZ, I may even see you there. But Quade is right. You are. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Jump Ticket prices going up at Perris
diablopilot replied to scottjaco's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The feeling you have about Perris are not unusual. I feel some of that anytime I check out a new DZ. I went through a little of the same when I moved down here a month or two ago. I miss my old home DZ. Next time you come out, introduce yourself to a couple of people, and before long you'll feel at home. Say hi to me when you come out! I'm hard to miss with my bright colored rig and all..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Should 'PRO' Requirements be Increased?
diablopilot replied to airtwardo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wonder why you feel the requirements are too low. Have you heard/seen any incidens involving PRO rated jumpers? I think you may be better served to try to make sure people are not just having their renewals "signed-off" buy their buddies. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. True, I got off subject. IMO not legal, AND a bad Idea. I would only change my mind on this if the manufacture could show me how it was ok. I tend to agree with the designers opinions more in reguards to tandems. If I'm the TI I may honestly may not notice it in the quick gear check we do before donning gear and walking to the plane. Scarry huh? I think many TI's rely on the rigger servicing the gear to look out for them. If I found it, NO WAY I'D JUMP IT! There are just too may risks in Tandem skydiving to take a chance on a "Oh, it'll work." I may do that in my sport skydiving sometimes, hopefuly not, but Tandems are no joke. Yup. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

hypothetically then, the work (if it's an exact copy) may be good enough, but it's not legal untill inspected by a Master rigger of course. This hypothetical seinor rigger should know that, and hopfuly has a good working relationship w/ a local Master rigger. If not I'd be worried. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Reading your post I agree with you on the basic premisethat the component in question would not be compatible be cause the function would not be the same. However this statement causes me to ask a question.... If it becomes an exact copy why do the waters become more murky? If it is an exact copy that functions the same and has been inspected and approved by a master rigger IMO it is legal. It's the same as a factory replacement. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Too true, however from my experiance the "new" camera jumper has little time, patience, or experience to do this. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Glad you're still with us, sound like you worked the problem the whole time. I am a firm beliver in the saying "Keep pulling handles(do something), untill your goggles fill up with blood. To help others learn from this, wht do you think you could have done differently to prevent this or change the outcome? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. I refuse to follow this post into the plethora of jokes it deserves. I've been scolded a couple of times recently for participating in the degradation of posts in the "topical" forums. Jump Ticket prices going up at Perris
diablopilot replied to scottjaco's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I didn't single you our for whining. Hope it didn't come of that way. Perris did not have 100 tandem students last Saturday. I was doing tandems, and it wasn't quite that many. Remember last year when Perris went to $14 jumps? Maybe they are making up for that. Maybe the promotion didn't bring as much business as the thought. The tunnel sounds like an investment, and they are hoping it pays off, bringing more business to Perris. I know I wouldn't want to have my name signed to the loan paperwork I'm sure they took ou for the project. What I'm trying to say here, is alot of people rant when a DZ does something they don't like. (Raise prices, impose new rules, make people wait for a 20 minute call when there is another A/C, ect.) People seem to thing DZ's owe them something. Like I said before, you don't like it, vote with your feet. Find a DZ thay meets all your needs, but don't bash the owners for doing what they want. You wouldn't put up with them telling you how to run your life. Me, I'll pay the extra buck. Goes up $2-3 and I might walk too.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -

Jump Ticket prices going up at Perris
diablopilot replied to scottjaco's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm going to give this whole thread a big "Whaaaa, get over it." I challenge anyone to make a profit in this tight assed industry. If you don't want to pay, don't. I love it when speculation leads to answerers no one can substantiate. I doubt the tunnel construction has anything to do with the increase in jump ticket prices. The tunnel is probably being run as it's own company, so rasing jumpticket prices would have no effect on the cash flow for the project. Fact is this industry has been hit with two of the weakest years in it's history, and yet people are still putting forward the effort to make this sport better than ever. My hats off to everyone who is sticking it out rather than running off to find a 9-5 in the "real" world. end of rant. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Quade is right. One needs to thik about jumping a camera like it was a bunch of the biggest, nastiest, fishing hooks you've ever seen sewn to their jumpsuit or helmet. No wait, grapling hooks, yeah that's it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Now that's not nice. Tell Luke he should wash his suits first. It's not like Ryan's got to open the package, it's the poor girls in production! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Tandem pilots, What is your favorite Tandem Rig?
diablopilot replied to bclark's topic in Gear and Rigging
Ok. As stated that is my opinion. It's based on personal experience on three manufacturers canopies. I'll give it the benifit of stating I've done 3 jumps on one Atair Tandem. And untill something changes it, I still say my favorite tandem canopy is the Icarus/Eclipse 365. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Oh hell, Now I'm scared.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

That is an opinion. That is not entirely true. See my point above about line twists. Also the harness does have ore potential points for failure with chest rings, but it's kinda a non-issue. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
