    Company might be responsible if they knowingly hired someone that was not bond-able. Pizzeria could be responsible if they give their drivers a bonus based on how many deliveries they can make in less than the alloted time. Wal - Mart would be responsible because they used the cheapest screws they could find and the whole fucking display fell apart and crushed the customers back. DZO could be responsible if they ran the show with a real party atmosphere and knew that the jumper was heavily intoxicated. etc.... The EMS was never consulted about this activity and their obligation to cover it by the DZ or the jumper, otherwise they could have made the decision to assess a different level of tax for the higher risk activity.     I think it's great. Landing area rules state that when someone divots themselves through not heading advice and poor canopy choices, then the first person to touch said canopy gets ownership. I usually ask the individuals what load they are on and where they intend on landing so as to beat the rush. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     Only to you. What are you going to say when required to submit to invasive pat down, scans, and searches to enter a school campus? The Post Office? A supermarket? There are laws in this nation that prevent this sort of treatment, and the government is in violation of them.     While that is true, the goal for landing is to achieve zero GROUND SPEED (or close to) before touching down. This IS affected by wind. Flaring affects both vertical and horizontal speeds. The amount of flare needed to stop vertical descent is not affected by wind, but the amount of flare needed to produce zero horizontal ground speed may be very much reduced (assuming you are landing into the wind) compared to no wind or light wind days. Which does not affect the HEIGHT at which you need to start the flare, but only the LENGTH of the flare. If you start the flare lower, you must use a faster, stronger flare to arrest the energy of the decent in the smaller window of opportunity. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     I don't have a 1000 but I have 324 jumps on 11 different air locked canopies and all but three of those canopies the regular openings were brisker than their non air locked counterparts. The 3 that opened with a soft consistent snivel were all the Paratec R.A.G.E (not the US manufactured parachute) which is a different airlock design than is commonly found in the States. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.     Stop looking down where your feet are going to go, and look out ahead of you. In any other sport you look towards the horizon, you'd never find yourself looking at the front wheel of your bike while riding, the tip of your surf board, or even your feet when running. Your legs will know what to do when you get to the ground (PLF), so keep those eyes out in front, and make sure you flare the parachute all the way down to your hips.
