  1. You know the "light" in Bud Light refers to calories, right? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  2. With all due respect (seriously), I'd need some more convincing that there's much down-side, compared to plenty of up-side, to a hybrid program of, say: - 1 tandem to get past the oh-shit/sensory overload of the first jump, uncluttered by any other tasks; then - a couple IAD/SL + 1 hop & pop to learn the basics of saving one's own life on a parachute jump, uncluttered by either first-jump brain-lock or any freefall tasks; then - with those minimal basics dealt with, however many structured AFF jumps it takes to learn the basics of safe freefall. Done right, with planned structure, I don't see that there's anything necessarily unclear about the path or ambiguous about the decision process. It's not program-to-program; it's a single program, with planned, structured phases. But I invite being educated by the experts, which I am not. Having worked in many different programs, and methods I'll say you're right about the advantage of the tandem progression. It's amazing what a better product that sort of program turns out with much less risk to the instructors and students. Jumping between dropzones has much risk associated with it and no one in their right mind will accept a transfer without verifying knowledge, and skills in a controlled manner. I'll put a transfer through a complete FJC since the way they have been trained may or may not be different than what my expectations will be, and I'll make them return to a harness hold stability only dive earning a release if possible. The risk is to high to do anything other. A student should really only consider switching programs if they are not getting what they need elsewhere. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. Hell I don't believe most 25 year olds in the US do either. The question remains would a jury believe they do. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. Agreed! Nice work... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  5. The "new" 59oz OJ cartons..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  6. Who cares? What's more important is will a jury believe they should have known the risks. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. No, it performs about as well as a Triathlon..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  8. Truck on back to your nanny state with that nonsense. That has been working just fine for 40 years, and it's the same process that created the instructors that taught you. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  9. I've been in this business for 15 years selling gear and EVERY manufacturer has a cock up. What matters is how they handle it after the fact, so before you get on your high horse, talk to them. My bet is I've see pretty big errors from whomever your favorite manufacturer(s) are. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  10. Couldn't pay me enough to get into a Robbie.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. The cops in both shootings should be charged with attempted homicide. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. You wanna get mad about someone trying to point out the problem rather than fix the problem. You're the problem. You think that leaving a campus unsecured physically, banning people's means of defense, suppressing education about such tools, and making a media frenzy of the incident to engage people on an emotional rather than logical level is going to prevent this sort of thing from happening again. All you're doing is painting a bigger target. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. No, I could show you nuts, but it's socially inappropriate, and in most places considered indecent exposure. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. THe extra 5k was to ensure the individual answers to the crime as charged. The Judge has discretion over the penalty and assigns it to merit the likely hood of recidivation. I would venture he's only going to be able to determine that likelihood based on the actions, demeanor, and acceptance of responsibility of ones actions. The lack of respect was palpable, and the judge had every bit of evidence to believe that anything less than the maximum penalty would not be enough to attempt to prevent recidivism. Of course the contempt charge was just a beautiful bit of icing on the cake, seeing a foul mouthed disrespectful jackass taken down a notch was great.
  15. Not really. The power generation is just as wasteful of resources as if you were using petroleum products to power the vehicle directly, and the infrastructure to "refuel" them is not in place, nor will it be easy or economical to establish it. The alternative fuel that has the energy companies worried enough to be looking into it themselves is biofuels, and of those bio diesel is the best answer. Fuel aircraft, trains, long haul trucks, fleet vehicles, and if the eco retards would become educated the multitude compact diesel cars available from major manufacturers world wide. The infrastructure to distribute is in place, the sources are many, the milage ber unit is high, and the technology has already been researched. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. 16. No. This policy is for US citizens turned terrorist and living in other countries not friendly to the US where it makes no sense whatsoever to endanger the lives of US troops to attempt to capture them. I have NO problem with this policy. As far as I'm concerned, you give up your rights the moment you leave the country AND align yourself with terrorists bent on killing Americans. Fuck those guys. There is no evidence required, so you your second criteria is a null set. Better not take that weekend in Canada. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  17. You. Sound. Ignorant. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. So my question is who are you and how would you know? Most large DZ's have a regular turnover in staff as it's kind of the nature and the attraction of the business. Caveat emptor. Being a video only is going to limit someone in this industry, being able to do any and all jobs is what makes one succeed. I've been doing this for almost 15 years now and have yet to fall under a 1000 jump a year average. You get out of it, what you put in. Show up on time, don't turn your nose up at work, treat it like the job it is, don't be a deadbeat, drunk, or druggie. In this industry you're a contracter, essentially a one man/woman business. Act accordingly. Have a product your client (the DZ) wants more of. I've got it wrong before, and I've got it right some of the time. But don't come off entitled to something. Oh, and what's you real D-number, because I'm pretty sure you're not Becky.... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. Yeah, they fly those canopies at anywhere from a .8 to 1.7 wingloadings on a regular basis in every weather condition that you won't jump in, while getting thrown up on, snotted on, landing regularly to PRO rating standards, while teaching the mostly uninformed and keeping them involved including having them assist in the landings. But make no thought of the hundreds to thousands of skydived the made to get to the rating, or the time they spent in the sport watching everything that could possibly go wrong. Instead why not belittle the guys and girls that keep the financial side of this sport alive and afford the turbine jump ships and amenities that you enjoy daily? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  20. Blues skies, black death..... peace upon your family Jim. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  22. You have 14 jumps. You really shouldn't have that attitude. You need to learn to fly and be relative first, then worry about the type of skydiving you want to do. Of course just like every other overly impressionable newbie you already *know* what you should be doing. Is your vertical suit made of ZP with spandex inserts? Why do you think you cant wear weight when freeflying? How do you intend to learn to recognize the sight picture of being high or low on a formation without practicing in a stable body position first? Relax. You have the rest of your skydiving career to become a freefly snob. Those of us that have been around a while have figured out a secret I'll let you in on. It's all the same. Bodyflight is bodyflight. Upsides down, right side up, belly, back, head, feet, it's all the same. I
  23. Why I gotta be the one that broke the neewb? Damnit, must remember the smiley faces... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

  25. The harness was not designed to fit the human body in that way. So, The safety margins are compromised too much. So, It's against the rules. Because, It's not safe. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
