Without the year on the reserve, I'll put a guess at $600 on the reserve, $600 to $800 for the main, $700 for the container, and $800 for the AAD. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Estimated value of container/reserve...

$800 to $1300 depending on the shape it's in. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Be careful! If that "old guy" says "Let em show you something."....... Let him! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Do your FJC and during the lunch break make the tandem. They can help take some of the fear off the top of the AFF L1, which will allow better performance.

Actually it's pretty uncommon in this industry to have such coatings on mesh anymore. And I haven't seen an AD or SB requiring acid mesh testing on a reserve PC made in the last two decades. And I've seen a Micron bench lock. What's your point? It's ok to be biased. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Keep working at it. Repetition is your friend here. 250 jumps from straight in landings to 270's is a pretty small sample set to be expecting real consistent results. Just err on the side of safety. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Between the two, I'd rather be jumping my rig this season, so I'd go for the Mirage. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Thought it was a lot of fun, even if there were some pretty big goofs, and I've very glad they didn't wreck that Buick in the car/bike chase! Worth the $8 IMO. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Air is air and gravity is gravity in all parts of the world. http://allafrica.com/stories/200805220633.html Isn't 1 fatality or even the increased chance of one enough reason to never push the limits when working with a student? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Sounds a lot like how I pack a reserve or base rig. Some have called it a "ProStack" ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY PROCEDUREs FOR SKYDIVING
diablopilot replied to DON321's topic in Safety and Training
Good idea. Here's a start. ALWAYS be ready to skydive when you get on the airplane. Now this may sound self evident, but you'll be surprised how many you'll see in your skydiving life, that are not. Either through getting on with unprepared gear (i.e. legstraps loose), or through a mindset of unpreparedness. Now as to emergencies, listen to the pilot's instructions, and do what you can to prevent them. Engine failure: Without fire, it's probably not that big a deal if at a jumpable altitude. Wait for the pilot's exit command. If it's below about 1000ft/or the altitude you'd be willing to exit on your reserve, you should still have a seatbelt on. Stalls: If it's on departure, your pilot really screwed up. You probably won't have time or altitude to exit. The only things you can do to help are preventative really. Load the aircraft within it's weight and gravity limits, and wear your seatbelt till at a safe to exit altitude to minimize the shift of CG in an unusual attitude. Major fire, or structural failure: Well, try not to let the pilot beat you out the door. Note that if the pilot orders an exit, everyone should comply in a smooth and orderly manner, exiting one at a time, and reducing any major weight shifts. DO NOT climb out your dirt dived 8 way. (See it done.) ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY PROCEDUREs FOR SKYDIVING
diablopilot replied to DON321's topic in Safety and Training
Well for starters, when you are behind the controls, what's your title? PIC or Pilot in Command. So as a parachutist in a jumpship emergency, you follow the instructions of the PIC. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. -
Right, one wanted to win a championship, and one wanted to win an experience. Nothing wrong with either. The key for next time, when building the team, ask what the goal is. Bring up this scenario. I play to win, always. But sometimes my goal is different than the assumed goal. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

"Fair", unless talking about the event, is a bullshit concept. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Both sides of your discussion are playing to win, but what they are playing for is different. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

What a shame, but in this age of "no personal responsibility" it's becoming less and less surprising. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
