Satisfaction with your life is a direct result of the choices you make
david3 replied to NWFlyer's topic in The Bonfire
The momemtn we stop thinking we are more evolved than the rest of the animals that enhabit this earth is the moment we disconnect with the reality of our biology. Love is not blind. If it were, you would not have eyes. I use the word love....feverously but I'm sure you can understand what I intend. Our behavior is not only governed by our biology but also by how that biology interacts with our society. Like it or not....and I'm going to guess not.....a good looking guy or a girl will be allowed to complain more about their lives and be more discontent for others have provided them the privilege of voicing their discontent due the "currency" of their outward physiology. Their looks and our desire to mate with those who fit a given "look" / "shape" / "size" They are "spending" their "currency" so in a manner that allows them to obtain a level of empathy from others. And as long as they have "currency" they can spend it in procuring emotional reassurance from others. Others are "spending" their "currency of empathy" so that the person with the better "looks" may perhaps find them attractive and consider them for a mate. Now there are truly hard luck cases where people are just going to not be happy with life even though they lack the "currency". Those are truly interesting cases. Those are the people that make us look at our built in programming and wonder what is going on? All that aside...I need to stop viewing the world in this way. It's not good for me and it's not good for you. Sometimes it's better to just "beleive" than know how the magic is done. -
I haven’t mastered pizza dough yet and every time I try it comes out okay but not worth the effort. My grocery store sells frozen pizza dough that comes out very good. I have also purchased the dough right from a restaurant. With all that being said it has been long enough since I tried making my own that I’ll give this a try. As far as soggy crust, I have a pizza stone that I preheat to 500 degrees before I put the pizza in. You need a peel to prepare to pizza on and put it on the stone with. No more soggy crust.

.... and how does that not make sense? Do you remember what was printed on the signs they held? Signs..., what signs?

Not if you are Samuel Boob.

once - never again, very ashamed to not have the nerve to address the problem BEFORE my mind got to that point. But..... should it really matter in discussions about what is right and what to strive for though? even if a person is unable to achieve the type of person they want to be, what's wrong with putting the ideal out there to strive for? or at least talk about how we wish we could be? It shouldn’t matter. I don’t think it is an unusual question in this thread though, do you? I am all for striving to be better. I don’t fault people for falling short. I don’t think they are wrong. I don’t believe you should be ashamed either. Learn from it and strive to be better. We all may fail again but if I’m going to wish, I wish I don’t find myself in a situation to be tested. Not sure how you got the idea that it is wrong to put the ideal out there.

great story - and being fired is the right thing from more than a liability standpoint. If you 'lost it' for any reason, you shouldn't be in enforcement of any kind, right? Have you ever "lost it"?

Boy, theres a shocker. So what you are saying is two wrongs make a right? booyah So what you are saying is two wrongs make a right?

We aren't acting as lawyers...we are acting as Jury. And the jury has spoken, little runt is guilty on all counts of bullying. I don’t think he understands what a lawyer does.

Yes, that is what i am saying.

I hope he gets that monkey off his back.

I meant generally speaking avoiding problems is *easier*... But not always "better." So for instance, I try to avoid getting raped by not walking alone late at night in dodgy neighbourhoods. I avoid confrontation with drunken people who seem totally irrational. But in this case, where it's the schoolyard and the big kid is going to keep getting harassed by those twerps... Well, like I said... I was glad the little kid got flipped. And that is what the video doesn’t show. How many times had the big kid turned the other cheek in the past? I have to figure the little bully only had the confidence to behave like he did (besides all his friends being there) is because to that point the bigger kid always turned the other cheek. Surprise!

If you are subletting from your flatmate I believe you should have your own insurance.

If dating sucks, stop dating. You act like your only choice is, “dating sucks so I’m just going to settle for the first person that comes along”. How about you just stop dating, learn to enjoy being by yourself, stop being so desperate. All this has been said to you before and you will ignore it this time as well. -
Is this in reaction to specific incidents or a preemptive strike?

I’m with ya. What is proper etiquette if you are passing people in the left lane 5 to 10 mph faster than the right lane traffic and someone starts riding your ass because they think you should be passing at 15 to 20 mph faster than right lane traffic? I pull to the right lane after I’ve passed the car/cars on the right. I may even accelerate a little but I’m not going to floor it.
