+1 A Dan Rossi Story below.

Actually Treetop has shown up here a few times within the last year under different names only to be quickly banned. I see peanut post on occasion. I think Snuffy and Jerry K are still arguing on rec-dot.

[reply Currently people being 'responsible for themselves' is ending with them hitting and killing others. Again, feel free to kill yourself. I will not be happy about it, but hey it is your right. But you are NOT free to risk OTHERS lives. So it is low time jumpers with small canopies hitting others?
-
Genius. Given any thought to the backlash from you killing yourself on the same DZ I'm trying to work/play? Bad press, cops all over the place, lawyers oozing out from under rocks, other jumpers having to witness your stupidity. Yeah, you sound like a considerate, well thought-out individual, and I can see why people would rather do things your way then to side with me and my 'crazy' ideas for logical downsizing progressions and continuing education. What ever was I thinking?!?! I am not restricting a business owner from making a business decision. If a dz wants to a make and enforce rules, they should. If they don't and you disagree with the way they run the business you should walk, I would. I am all for “logical downsizing progressions and continuing education”. That is what I believe I have chosen.

We are talking about two different things.

I’m not a big fan of legislating safety, organizations or governments protecting me from myself. If I am endangering someone else, by all means enforce laws to stop me. If not, teach me, nag me, berate me or ignore me but don’t restrict me. Let me make the choice. Educate, don’t legislate.

Actually I see parallels with fast canopies and fast cycles. People new to motorcycling can (and do) walk into the showroom and buy cycles they have no business being on. I believe you see it with cars too, someone with a newly minted license driving way too fast for their experience level. You read about them in the paper all the time. And when they are told to slow down and take it easy, they say pretty much the same thing that new canopy pilots with mad skills say, “I’m different”. I think you would see it with more with fast cars but it can be cost prohibitive.

I consider this a public service announcement. The answer to your problem Shah. NSFW

OP: “I couldn't get any serial #'s from him though.” Chuck: Just reply to the guy asking for the serial number and DOM. Wow, I actually missed something. Guess I should crawl under a rock, eh? Really? Dude......please. So you didn’t read it. Sorry, the original poster tried to do the right thing and I saw your crack “Easy there Dick Tracy” as belittling him for trying. So yes, really. -

How you doin? -
It’s called conversation. He related an experience he had. It doesn’t have to be constructive. Have you ever relayed a story about an experience you had with someone else? It’s funny you use the phrase “stick up your ass”. That’s what I thought about your post. Lighten up Francis.

As I said, I'm a new jumper, it was my first day at a new DZ, I really don't know what his instructors there have told him and what policies they have in place, I only know my DZ which tends to be very by the book. My reason for the post was seeing if what I experienced is common and I just have a stick up my ass or if this as something that others would consider an issue. Looking back sure there are things I could have done differently, I was just seeing what the general community online thought of such a behavior. my subject line was probably more bold than it should have been, but a good subject line tends to grab readers. Nothing wrong with your post. matt002 is out of line.

Then petition the USPA to remove the requirement. Personally, it is not that big of a deal and it is for the highest license the USPA has... I'd like to see the requirements increased, not dumbed down. But hey, petition the USPA to remove it... But mainly quit crying about it. It is their license and they can require what they want to require. Whining about it on line is not going to change jack. So either DO something and quit crying about it, or just quit crying about it. I thought it was our license. I thought we were USPA. What was I thinking?
