  6. Can you explain this part a bit: When he got done kicking out of his line twists, his dytter flatlined, then what happened ? IF he just got out of them, why chop it away ? Why did his cypres fire at his flatline alti ? Was his Cypres set to fire that high, or was his flatline set at 800' ?? Or did his Cypres fire prematurely ? It seems there is more to this story, and having an accurate timeline as the events that took place would help. Please explain the billvon reference too. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! 7. dude! with the RIAA going after individuals these days www.isp-planet.com/news/2002/riaa_020823.html, I'm not sure I'd be posting that in a public forum!!! He never said that he stole them or downloaded them..... I got about 10 gigs and most of them are from my own CD's, so I can listen to them working out, or in my MP3 car player, or trade with other people. My roommate has about 20 gigs and ALL of his he ripped himself. He even setup a script on our Unix box that will do the DA conversion automatically. And I've said this before on these forums...the RIAA can suck my left nut!! Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Cool! bellyflier on the dz.com hybrid record jump
  8. Hey Phil, if you are talking about the van ride back to the airport from the lz, I think it is a gradual descent from point A to point B. Maybe once you get within 1/4 of the dz, does it start to level out to the airport altitude. Ask Seabazz....he should know the answer to this. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! 17. Might I add that that sunset jump was spectacular!! (although not quite a Byron sunset jump, but it was close) Not only did I get to ride in the Monterey Otter for the time (BEER!!) But I also got to chase a tandem out the door for the time (BEER!!) And I pulled at 9K and watch a beautiful sunset while the rest of you Hollister peeps were on the ground already!! LOL Maybe see you next weekend fi it rains up in Byron and blue skies down there. . And Jeff, don't rely purely what they tell you on the phone at Byron...it's winter man - there is going to be fog there every morning for the next couple months. Hollister is the place to go since it is out of the valley fog. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Cool! bellyflier on the dz.com hybrid record jump

  19. I will preface this with saying that I have only been in this sport for almost a year and 130 jumps.... IMO, I feel that we (skydivers ) are entitled to know about every incident that takes place that involves skydiving. It isn't a "Hey, let's slow down and look at the gnarly traffic accident" type of response. Instead, it's a "hey, what can I learn from this person's unfortunate mistake" or "gosh, bad shit just happens, and what can I do to try and prepare for it so it won't happen to me?" I think that an informed skydiver is an educated and more responsible skydiver than those that are not informed. I learn from every incident that I read about. I too take something away from it, whether it be adding something to my gear check (which I do quite often) or whether it be something that I look for with myself or other jumpers. When I first started skydiving, I spent a couple days reviewing the incident reports on skydivefatailities.com ( or whatever it was called a year ago.) True, they freaked the hell out of me since I didn't have a clue as to what a lot of that stuff meant. Of course, that type of information does have a different effect on some people. I showed it to one of my co-workers who did a tandem and he refused to jump again. The bottom line is that incident reports are a very good way for other skydivers to learn from other's mistakes and to educate themselves and others. Personally, they have helped me tremendously in my short skydiving career. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Cool! bellyflier on the dz.com hybrid record jump

  22. Doh, sorry. I was not following this thread. /hint hint Maybe a little hash mark next to the subject would allow me to see what threads I participated in / hint hint So FTP and mIRC are not new. Actually mIRC or IRC and FTP have been around since the beginning of the Internet - or close to that point in time. The logistics of getting MP3's this way is hard if you are not too techy, but I will try to explain it to you.... First get a copy of mIRC from www.mirc.com. The tricky part is getting you connected to a server that has FTP site lists. There are one or two out there that I could point you to. Next you need to download your favorite FTP client. Put the information that you received from IRC ( the username, password, and path ) into the FTP client and connect to the server. From there, it's just looking on the site for MP3 files and start downloading to your hearts content, or until the site shuts down or your hard drive fills up.
  23. Looking through this months issue of Parachutist, there is a picture of a hybrid formation called "Cup and Saucer." It is located in the center of the magazine, you can't miss it. If someone could scan it and post it, that would be great. I'm at work and can't do it right now. I am curious if anyone here has done this ?? What is the procedure for accomplishing something like this ? Is it launched the same way as a hybrid, but then the hangers just kick their legs up under the arms of the belly fliers ? It appears as if it is a pretty stable formation, with the sitters/hangers locked into place. I am adding that to my list of things to try next time someone suggests "HYBRID!!" I doubt it will have as many people as the picture shows, but a good 6 or 8-way ought to be fun. BTW, I am posting this here, since it really does not qualify as RW nor FF, but more of a hybrid, but it is a formation. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah!
